We spent three nights at the Gens Julia and loved it! The location is unbeatable and Sergio was extremely helpful in providing directions and local recommendations. Definitely a more personal experience than a larger hotel- you feel much more like a guest than just another tourist. We were served cappuccino, juice, and a pastry each morning and little glasses of...

This hotel is directly across from the "Sacred Area" which also happens to be where Julius Caesar was murdered. It is a short walk to the Pantheon, or to the Campo del Fiori and close to the Forum and Coliseum. The rooms are beautiful, the view spectacular and I loved that they served us our breakfast in our room. Rome...

What a great hotel. We took two rooms, one with a view, another without and were very pleased with everything. Staff is just best ever, the host, Sergio, was incredibly helpful and kind suggesting nice places to go and bringing coffee or tea during the day. Light breakfast (free) was served in the room by Ernesto and he was greeting...

From booking to leaving we really felt looked after. Sergio sent website addresses by email so I could book ahead for things like a car from the airport (cheaper than a taxi !) and places we wanted to visit. e.g. the Galleria Borghese is only booked in advance and was booked up for 2 weeks when we arrived so we'd...

After staying here for four nights with my boyfriend, I understand how this has gotten so good reviews. It feels personal, and its a totally different experience than staying in a big chain hotel like we usually do. The owner and his assistant are attentive and took the time to explain what we should and shouldn't do in Rome, a...

Beautiful place in the center of Rome...Easy walking distance to Pantheon, Colloseum, etc...Sergio as a host and his assistants are absolutely great, complimentary prosecco in the evening and coffee in the morning are nice finishing touches. We checked-in at 2am due to a flight delay and for them it was not a problem at all. Thank you Residenza Gens Julia...

Staying in Ghetto

Neighbourhood Profile
Ghetto
The mini-neigbourhood Ghetto holds tight to its reputation as a stand-alone area thanks to its nearly 300-year history as the home to Rome’s Jewish community. Times changed in the 20th century, but the tiny area still retains its mix of tradition, community, and history. Ancient and medieval architectural design frames apartments, bakeries, shops, and restaurants. Friends and families are the pulse of the neighbourhood, keeping company on the Via del Portico d’Ottavia. The Ghetto observes the traditional Jewish Shabbat: businesses close from Friday sundown to Saturday sundown.
