The hotel is well situated with several restaurants and bars close by. The old building is a former convent and is very atmospheric. Our room was fairly basic but clean and functional with free wifi. Staff very helpful and friendly.

We stayed on level 2 for 3 nights in a comfortable room overlooking the street. This is a quiet, elegant building. Only problem was we didn't know if we were allowed to use the outdoor garden square for drinking wine, reading etc, so we didn't use anything outside our room. There were no guidelines for guest behaviour provided

( Uncomfortable chairs In lounge area. Only minus.). Sitting area in an Outdoor central space that was pleasant. Wonderful white cotton sheets.

Our family of 4 stayed for 4 days, 3 nights. The A/C worked! The room was very tidy. There was an elevator. Breakfast was served. We didn't need more. By American standards the single beds had thin mattresses, the shower was tiny, and the elevator only fits 2 ppl. The front desk was helpful. You can buy water at front...

I think they need to update the rooms and wifi. It is a modest place and has always been so, but in the past it was cleaner and better. They have complicated the wifi beyond belief and the shower in one of our rooms did not drain. The breakfast is easily the worst we have had on this trip and...

If you want to stay in a building with a fascinating history in a fantastic location within Rome for a great price, this is definitely the right spot for you! This hotel is an oasis of calm in the sometimes bustling Trastevere. Wonderful restaurants and the heart of ancient Rome itself is within a short walk. The building was a...

This is a straightforward, good value hotel with simple, clean and functional rooms. Breakfast was good. Reception was always staffed and friendly. The location is excellent, just across the river from Central Rome. Wifi not terribly good.

We were expecting a convent experience and it definitely had religious art and such, but it felt more like a lay retreat house more than anything. Front desk staff always helpful with a range of personalities from friendly to abrupt. Stayed here for 3 nights. In a quiet part of Trastevere right near the Tiber. 30 min walk to Vatican,...

I accompanied a school group of 24 students from Australia. This was our first stop after our flight. We arrived early in the morning and our luggage was stored until our rooms were ready. The people at reception were very interested in the students and were very accommodating as were the lovely ladies in the breakfast room. This is not...

The hotel, a former monastery, in Trastevere is a beautiful Rome neighborhood that's frozen in time. Or, so it seems. It's peaceful, has the right touches of the Old World and is a very welcoming place to stay. The staff was helpful, providing directions, and suggestions on places to eat and sites to see. The complimentary breakfasts started our day...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
