I have just come home from Rome and four nights at the Hotel Locarno. The only good thing was its location and the breakfast. I found the hotel terribly shabby and rundown .The rooms (I saw 2) were dark and tiny with small, short and...More
We heard about this hotel in just about every travel book we looked into. It was perfect! We spent our anniversary in Rome in October. We stayed 6 nights at the Hotel Locarno and only wish we could go back. First of all, Rome is...More

Hotel Locarno is a wonderful blend of old world charm and new world amenities. Excellent location, helpful staff and delicious food (try the smoked salmon with pink peppercorns) make for a pleasant and comfortable stay. Be sure to check out the roof top terrace. My...More
From its original role as ancient army training fields to its present-day identity as one of the city’s most desirable neighbourhoods, the Campo Marzio is the best place to get lost in Rome. Gorgeous Renaissance and Baroque palazzos line the streets, and are filled with enticing boutiques and food shops. By day, Rome’s best-dressed denizens criss-cross its streets in a fashionable parade of errands, occasionally pausing to
look fabulous in gorgeous piazzas like San Lorenzo in Lucina. Campo Marzio can be a bit of a sleeper after aperitivi hour (21:00), so visit by day and experience the pulse of daytime Rome.
When I was here in February there was some refurbishment going on however it was not visible nor noisy. Best to call the hotel and request a room away from wherever the activity may be. Enjoy your stay, SD
