The room in the hotel was simple and reasonably clean for my one-night stay. The breakfast was substantial with excellent coffee. The staff was very helpful with guidance for public transportation. The decor in the lobby and garden was lovely.

Hotel Cisterna is a clean, quiet haven in the midst of the historic Trastevere section of Rome. Although not much English is spoken by the staff, they are accommodating and good natured, and will do whatever it takes to meet your needs. Not exactly modern, The room we had was clean and spacious, and it opened up onto a lovely...

This hotel is ok, clean and well located in Trastavere. However for the price, our room was small, the breakfeast was simple. The service is acceptable.

The couple who runs the hotel is quite nice. The accommodations are simple, without luxury but do not need anything beyond what was offered. Being in Trastevere is great!

Great location, very clean, apparently nice staff. But -The breakfast is really awful and not at the level of a 3 stars hotel at 140€ per room - not a single fresh fruit, industrial marmalade, butter and cheeses, dry bread, poor tea. Only coffee and cappuccino are acceptable. - Neither the fridge nor the safe were functioning - I had...

The only word that comes to my mind tinking about my experience with this hotel is crazy! At first I found the hotel great (thoug not to clean), but we soon became victims of the extremely bad managment. Looking back I can't do nothing but laugh. It was like a stay at Fawlty Towers (but without the carm). The hotel...

great location in Trastevere section of Rome - great restaurants nearby. Rooms are small but adequate; bathrooms are very tiny. Breakfast is average.

Where to start ... I travelled with a group of colleagues and we booked (and got our booking confirmed by the owner) our single rooms in advance. When we arrived the owner had forgotten all about it! We were squeezed into whatever he had left of rooms, two or three people in each room. I really enjoy the company of...

We found this hotel through friend recommendations...2 sets of couples from our hometown in Canada had stayed here a number of times. I went through the website before booking, and I feel that the hotel's site accurately reflects reality. We arrived in the middle of a heatwave...their air conditioners worked. The modest breakfast was lovely...the owner makes fantastic espresso...and the...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
