The hotel itself was okay. We had a suite at the top of the hotel, literally the top. We took the elevator to the top floor and then had to walk up a flight of stairs to get to our room. The room was basic, comfortable, definitely not luxury. Kind of pricey for what you got, however, all the hotels...

My sisters and I stayed here on our first trip to Rome and the hotel was in a great location in a trendy area with restaurants and bars in the neighborhood and convenient walking distance into the heart of the city. The room was basic but big enough for our needs. The only hiccup was a broken hair dryer in...

The hotel was ok. The staff was friendly enough. Breakfast was included and was pretty good. However - BEWARE - they LIE on their webpage. They say each room has a fridge and security safe. This is simply NOT TRUE. I have no way of knowing how long they have been luring travelers with this phony webpage - but we...

If your looking for a hotel that isn't overly expensive or luxurious but that has a great location and friendly staff then this hotel is perfect! The free breakfast was decent and the free wireless internet was a nice bonus!! The only thing was that the bathroom door had no lock! The staff was very friendly and the air conditioning...

Great location if you don't mind a decent walk to the nearest shopping precinct. I disagree with previous reviews re the distance from major tourist sites because the distance means a better hotel price and the bus and light rail systems are great. Would recommend the daggy looking 'Bar' around the corner (just before you enter the main square) for...

Nice little hotel in a less touristy area of rome. Great spot for nightlife. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby with a great atmosphere. Room was small but had everything you need. We had a terrace room which was nice. Breakfast was a good start to the day. Staff were extremely helpful, even with a language barrier.

Room was adequate at best... bathroom was the same. Breakfast was fine. Location -- depends on what you're looking for. It's south of the river (Trastevere), so it's a pretty decent walk to just about any of the sights (25 - 30 mins to the Vatican, for example). The neighborhood is mixed at best but it really does come to...

Cisterna is family-run, and you can tell - the staff is very nice and service-minded. My room was small and not anywhere near posh, but with a lovely terrace right outside. The building is beautiful, and if you get a room not facing the street, it's very quiet. Excellent location, great service and lots of charm. NB: some of the...

Wonderful hotel; great location in historical Trastevere. Four sisters traveling together arrived hours before the Pope died, but already Rome was bustling with extra travellers. The hote had all the amentities: quad room was good size; the general location was secluded so that you felt as if you could get away from it all, but in fact were in the...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
