Had to try to the Excelsior because of its reputation as one of the grand dames of Roman hotels. Rome had super high ceilings. Very elegant but shabby-chic. Buffet breakfast was very impressive, much more so than the Marriott down the street, where I've also stayed. But the Marriott is more updated and a bit more comfortable even if the...

We stayed here for two nights when we were going to watch Italy playing Ireland. The hotel is full of elegant features. Wonderful breakfasts and the rooms are everything you would expect of a hotel of this standard. The staff are very friendly and helpful and it is situated in a good position for walking to the Spanish steps and...

The Westin Excelsior in Rome's city center is an impressive luxury class hotel. The hotel's facilities and amenities are truly luxury class. The spacious lobby and bar restaurant were inviitng. Our junior suite room was far more spacious than those in other typical luxury class hotels. It was like an apartment with a large bedroom and a large living room....

Dear TripAdvisor Thank you for your nice review and for saying we are an impressive luxury class hotel. The location of the hotel at the Via Veneto nearby the Borghese park is indeed convenient Walking from the hotel to the major attractions is going “down” and to go “up” again you can also walk from the metro station of the...

First let me say that the staff is great. Regarding the rooms I expected more from a SPG property. Our room was tired. The carpet was filthy but the staff steam cleaned it the next day. One has to ask how it got that bad in the first place. Bathroom shower stall was disgusting. Big clump of hair left in...

We were in Italy for a month, and stayed at the Westin at the beginning and end of the trip, five nights total. We had a wonderful experience. The hotel exudes Italian charm. The rooms are large, the largest of all we had in Italy, with amazingly comfortable beds, a sitting area, and a roomy bathroom. We found the staff...

I stayed in this hotel weekend of the 10th febuary 2017. We took a suite which cost four figures.Fair enough as I knew what I was paying for. But the aircon didn't work and it was stiffling. When I complained I was told it was broken. I complained again and was told it wasn't turned on in winter. We had...

On a catacombs tour, (on the bus ride portion) our guide had pointed to our hotel and said it was the most expensive hotel in Rome Well, we got the room on priceline and I feel we got a lot of value with this hotel. Great service, very helpful staff. Our room is huge for European standards, and our sleep...

We have just spent a most enjoyable weekend in Rome, staying at the Excelsior. The hotel is a magnificent stately building. Our room was immense with a small balcony overlooking the street. The common areas were beautifully appointed. Moreover t it was well situated: it was a pleasant walk to the Spanish Steps and the Trevi fountains. However the Wi-Fi...

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighbourhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighbourhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighbourhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 20:00.
