We were visiting Rome with family for five nights. We had two rooms one with two singles and another with a king. Both exceeded our expectations. It was exceptionally quiet. Service was outstanding. The concierge, Simone, was exceptional in setting up tours. One member had a medical emergency. Simone dealt with the situation with speed, compassion and professionalism. Grazie!

Spent 3 nights in pure luxury! The staff were outstanding, so helpful and attentive! Great food , sumptious cocktails and fantastic central location! We were spoiled from the minute we arrived! Extra charges such as high "city tax" was a little disappointing but overall a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Will return for luxury and location in an amazing city!

Wifi is free only if you're an SPG member and after you agree to the fee, then it's waived from your final bill. I was travelling alone, female and WB (while black). The staff was friendly enough except the bar lounge staff were less than attentive. I chose it because I wanted to feel safe and that was accomplished. It's...

My wife and I found the Excelsior the best of both worlds. The Feel of a European/Roman hotel with all the amenities of a Westin. Well located walking distance to the Spanish Steps, Villa Borgasie and the Metro among other attractions, getting around Rome was a piece of cake from this location. Never needed a cab. Conceirge desk was terrific...

We were in Rome for a week prior to our cruise and we chose the Westin Excelsior. The location was great and afforded us easy access to the city. There were plenty of good restaurants nearby, as well as the dining available in the hotel. We spent several evenings in the bar as well. The food and drink in the...

I came here for my Mother's birthday and the staff was wonderful. Our room was beautiful! You can tell it's an older hotel but it's a classic! A place celebrities have and still do stay. We were given a sweet treat by the restaurant staff with our breakfast to celebrate her birthday. 😊 All of the Concierge were fantastic. Everyone...

A grand old lady, the Excelsior offers large well appointed rooms. The bathrooms are rather large too with many luxury products provided. Located on the Via Veneto, we found the hotel to be quiet and well maintained. We received a room upgrade upon arrival. I am guessing because we are SPG members. Our room also had a very large outdoor...

Great location and a charming building. Our rooms were very comfortable as were the beds but they do need renovating to lift this hotel to a higher level. Breakfast was good as was service in the bar. Swimming pool was small and too cold for our liking. Lobby staff need to engage more rather than standing around. When we first...

The Westin i walking distance to most of the touristic attractions which is nice. We were upgraded to a spacious room with terrace & pampered with a bottle of bubbles for my birthday. Front desk was attentive and facilities of sauna & steam room were ok and not busy. I will totally come back.

Hotels like this can no longer rely on their past glory and reputation. For the business traveller, well-placed sockets for charging laptops, phones etc are critical as are decent lighting and an appropriate chair/desk combination in the room. It was also one of the few places I have visited recently where I felt that I was looked down upon by...

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighbourhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighbourhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighbourhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 20:00.
