We stayed there because it's where you can get the transfer to Windstar cruises, but otherwise probably lots better places to stay in Rome. The location is wonderful and the staff very helpful, especially the concierge for nearby restaurants and tours. And the fact that the thing was built in 1903 and still runs fairly well ought to say something....

+ Ample space in room + very clean + nice lobby and bar + good location + Breakfast in mezzanine was outstanding + I liked the RFID key card + beautiful, well-appointed bathroom - not uncommon in Europe, a cramped bathroom. When seated on toilet, knees touch sink - Rome is expensive, but despite the elegance of this hotel I...

An older "grand hotel" located on the Via Veneto. Public areas and lobby a little like going back in time, nevertheless very nice. The room I had was newly refurbished and was very well done with a very comfortable bed and nicely appointed bathroom. The included breakfast was in a word "fabulous ". Overall a well located and comfortable hotel...

First the positives. The room was very nice, the breakfast was tasty, and the location is grand. Now the negatives. The concierge was very confrontational. On our first day at the hotel, I simply asked the concierge for directions to the Borghese Gallery. After he gave me the directions, he stepped close to me and looking me squarely in the...

We stayed at the Ambassador suite, great suite with a huge balcony, jacuzzi great old style Italian furniture. The breakfast room wasn't much to write about, the hotel is kind of old and some areas not upgraded. The food also wasn't "A" rated but good. The staff apart from the concierge were very helpful. Service was very good and fast....

I recommend it! Friendly employees, nice hotel with a good location. Spanish steps and trevi fountain is available about a 10-15 mins by walk. The room was cleaned everyday, cleaned towels, bed was made and the cleaner put my Teddy Bear nicely to the bed :) the hotel is near the barberini and spagna metró station (line a, red one)...

This hotel couldn't be better located for all the major sites and within decent walking distance of many of them. We were in a classic room on the 4th floor and I must admit that it looked a bit tired, however it had everything we needed - the bed was really comfy and I don't know whether it was all...

Excellent hotel in a great location. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Bedrooms were spacious, spotless and had lovely big bathrooms. Breakfast is absolutely excellent. Everything you could possibly wish for... the chocolate and plum cake was just fantastic. All in all an excellent place to stay in Rome.

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighbourhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighbourhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighbourhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 20:00.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Five-star luxury for the Ambasciatori Palace in via Vittorio Veneto, an elegant window facing the Eternal City. In an enviable location, the hotel blends the magic of traditional hospitality with contemporary elegance. Known as 'Ambassadors' Palace', it was originally built in 1903 and it has been the location of international affairs between diplomats from the nearby Embassies and a witness to the excitement of the mundane 'Dolce Vita'. The restoration was made according to the original structure of the environment, and repeating and interpreting the existing decorations: the Brazilian granite columns and the intricate wrought-iron balustrade of the grand staircase, the marble floors and the polychromatic mosaic and the pleasant succession of stuccoes, the Venetian chandeliers and skylights. The welcoming and aristocratic atmosphere of the Ambasciatori Palace combines with exclusive services provided and a careful attention to technology and comfort. The 152 rooms are bright, spacious and finely furnished, decorated in soft colors and aristocratic textures. The new Ambassador Rooms are equipped with TouchControl devices to adjust temperature and lighting and MediaHub to connect the HD screen to the TV audio/video devices. Guests can use the Fitness Center, dine at the refined and elegant restaurant 'La Terrazza', renowned for its culinary fame since the 1920's, the Embassy Bar and Bistro corner and complimentary Wi-Fi is available in all the rooms and public areas. The privileged position of the Ambasciatori Palace, in the business district, makes the Hotel the ideal location for business trips, meetings , exhibitions , banquets and vernissage. The elegant business center includes several multipurpose rooms of different sizes, some with natural light and overlooking via Veneto. The main hall is housed in the ballroom. The Ambasciatori Palace is the ideal place for an unforgettable stay among the most legendary historical-artistic monuments and the elegant shopping streets of Rome. A few steps from the Metropolitana Train (stop Barberini) allows a pleasant walk to the Fontana di Trevi, Piazza di Spagna, Piazza Navona and the main railway Station Termini. ... more   less
