I went with my husband for his 40th birthday. The Lirico is a neat hotel run by 3 brothers, the staff are lovely and will help in anyway they can, offering advise on how to travel around and where to eat etc.

Since the hotel is near, but not too close, to Termini, it served as a great base to tour all of the areas of Rome. The rooms were "European Small" but entirely adequate for us. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were good,...More
comfortable rooms - clean, small bathtub, comfortable bed (firm), satellite TV (took some tweaking to get satellite channels to work initially), quiet, lift does not go to the street level so be prepared to haul your luggage up a long flight of stairs, good breakfast...More
We stayed for 5 nights in Hotel Lirico and are very satisfied. Friendly staff, clean rooms and a good breakfast. The location near the Termini is also good for people arriving by train. We enjoyed our stay very much and will surely book this hotel...More
The hotel is in a great location, particularly if you are traveling to or from Rome by train. The hotel staff were very welcoming and the reception staff excellent . The single rooms in particular are of a good standard and very comfortable.
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up
basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
