Hotel dei Mellini, with his great location in the centre of Rome, only 10 minutes by foot to via Condotti (considered the best shopping area in tow),13 minutes to the Spanish Steps and the Vatican, is really the right address to be in Rome. The Hotel dei Mellini worked out very well for us during our stay in Rome- it is located on the other side of the Tiber river so away from all the noise and business of Rome, but still a short distance away from most tourist attractions and sights. As four people, we stayed in a suite which was not huge but big enough so that we were comfortable, with two people sleeping in the king bed, and then in the other Room one on the sofa which was turned a bed and one on an extra rollaway bed. There were also two bathrooms, which we highly appreciated., and the design of the room was quite quaint and stylish. I have seen better breakfasts, but this one was okay and the area itself was nice to sit in. Staff were very friendly to us, except for one incident where the receptionist behind the desk was being very defensive about a 60 Euro fee we had to pay for the extra rollaway bed. However, this was settle and she did not end up making us pay it in the end. We were very happy with the price for the hotel, especially because we had gotten a suite and left feeling very happy with our visit. If returning to Rome I would definitely consider staying here again.

Our family of three (2 adults and a toddler) stayed six nights at Dei Mellini in a superior room. The airline briefly lost our luggage and the hotel went above and beyond to provide us with additional toiletry items so we could clean up after a long flight. When we arrived there was a toddler bed setup (complete with a small doll) and a fruit plate. The bellman was very kind to show us the features of the room. The even turned down our bed each evening, which was a nice touch.

Overall the room was more than adequate and made a great “home base” for our week trip to Rome. The hotel was only a short walk from the Spanish Steps, Vatican, and Piazza Navona. The neighborhood seemed safe and we never had any worries walking around in the evening.

The only negative was that we never figured out how to get the central AC to work. It was incredibly warm for February so the room got a little stuffy. We made do by opening the window in the morning and evening but having an overnight airflow would have been a plus. In their defense, I didn’t ask them about a fan or for assistance with the air.

We would recommend this hotel to friends visiting Rome and would definitely consider staying here on a future trip to Rome.

We stayed 29 sept to 2 Oct ... it is a lovely hotel on great location. Travelling during covid is strange times but safe.

Breakfast was palatable, good choice delays in replenishing the hot food more frequently.

The terrace was lovely shame the table tennis was not available.

Rooms clean and spacious for time we were there. We did not get told that the room would not be cleaned whilst staying due to Covid.... This meant no replacement of fresh shower towels, room being cleaned or tea coffee replaced in room and no long life milk available for the in room tea coffee making facilities.

The bar was not open due to covid, unable to get a drink at hotel after long day’s in the hot weather.
we had read on here some guests given a complaint cold beer upon their return to the hotel in evening. This was not offered to us at all. I personally believe this should’ve offered to everyone, especially as only 15rooms booked with quests.

In all we had a lovely trip

Thank you for taking the time to post your review. We are sorry to hear that your experience at our property was not to your liking. Guest feedback is very important to us and we take them very seriously. I will check with the Housekeeping Manager why your room was not cleaned during your stay, we do have reports of cleaned rooms. This is very strange because it is true that the Covid imposed us some limitation but absolutely not on regard of cleaning, we change towels if they are in floor as indicated by written information in the bathroom and we refil coffe, milk and sugar everyday as aslo the minibar. On regard of the complimentary drinks that you mentioned, actually, to be nice, we decided to give for free a welcome drink to whoever wonted it, bottles of beers and soft drinks were on a basket with ice on the reception desk for everyone to take by themself, this was only in September (last day on free drinks was September 29th). Please feel free to reach out to us with any additional comments, questions or suggestions you may have. Have a wonderful day, and we hope that we get the opportunity to welcome you back again, in the not so distant future. Best Regards Luisa D'Alessandri Front Office Manager

Recently visited for my wife’s birthday and anniversary post-lockdown from the UK. We were initially given a room with an internal view from the window. The kind member of staff on reception quickly found us another room with an outside view without any extra charge.

When we returned from walking around beautiful Rome on my wife’s birthday they left a bottle of Spumante on ice in the room - so kind!

And all the time we stayed there the staff couldn’t do enough for us.

It’s also in a great neighbourhood - lots of nice restaurants close by but out of the main touristy parts. You can still walk and be in both the main part of town and the Vatican within about 20 mins either way.

Loved Rome, and very much appreciated all the staff kindness at this hotel.

Grazie Mille!

We stayed in this hotel for 6 nights just before this year's Easter.

The hotel is not far from the Vatican and is within walking distances to most of the attractions in Rome city centre, so its location is perfect.

Upon arrival we were upgraded to a suite, which was a larger room, but with no view. This wasn't an issue for us because we didn't spend much time in the room during the day. The room was very clean.

The breakfast was continental style, plentiful and tasty. No queues at all.

All the guests and staff in the hotel observed Covid rules, e.g. wearing face masks in public areas.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Dei Mellini and will definitely return.

PS
A normal taxi in Rome has a fixed fare of €50 to/from Fiumicino Airport. If you are to book a taxi via the hotel, the taxi fare is €60 for 3 people (maximum 3 pieces of luggage).

Parking in Rome was never going to be easy and this was a concern as we approached the hotel. Thankfully an area right outside the hotel was coned off and we were allowed to park there after Luisa D'Alessandri removed them. This was our first encounter with Luisa and she was this helpful and accommodating for the rest of our stay.
The room was lovely. Clean, spacious and everything you could ask for. All the usual tv channels (BBC news, etc) available, not that you'd ever want to watch tv whilst in Rome! What a beautiful city...truly stunning.
On check in we asked if there was a bar bar and were told straight away it was closed due to Covid, so this was never an issue. We just bough a little tipple in one of the many supermarkets available locally. Besides, there are bars aplenty within minutes of the hotel!
On booking it said a continental breakfast was included and what was on offer was perfectly acceptable. We always left with a satisfied belly :) Food was replenished on time and staff were very sweet and helpful. My only gripe was the scrambled egg was a tad off colour a couple times and the bread a little hard due to not being covered...but that's it.
All in all a lovely stay. Great location but quiet and relaxing. The staff were attentive, helpful and genuinely friendly. Luisa made us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived and she is a great asset to the hotel. Thank you and we look forward to staying again in the future.

To start with, very helpful and friendly staff. Then the room...We paid extra € 40 per night for a double luxury room for just an extra space and instant Nescafé coffee so not really worth it.
The room on their website looks much better than in real. The beverages are quite overpriced... for instance € 12 for a gin tonic? They did not change their prices as former guests were complaining too.
Plus: the location is very centrally located from all the hot spots!

This is a great hotel in a quiet area of Rome and an easy 15 minute stroll to St Peter's Basilica in one direction and the Piazza del Popolo in the other. A warm welcome from Roberta and Louisa on reception, who were very friendly, courteous and helpful speaking very good English (and numerous other languages). A complimentary cold bottle of beer was offered when returning to the hotel each day - much appreciated and very welcomed. Bedroom was comfortable, spacious, clean, good size bathroom, minibar fridge, TV etc. Breakfast was a simple buffet of cereals, cheese, cold meats, fruit, scrambled egg and bacon, coffee machines etc. and the staff were very covid mindful and friendly.
Overall I would have no hesitation is staying here should I ever get to Rome again.

We stayed at the Hotel dei Mellini for 3 nights at the end of October 2021. The staff was excellent and the hotel was very clean. We had a junior suite, and our room was comfortable for me, my husband and our daughter. The bathroom was especially spacious, and worked very well for the 3 of us. Our friends had a suite, which was nice for gathering as a group. We all felt the prices were very good considering the size of our rooms.

We thought the location was very good, as it was about a 12 - 15 minute walk to the Vatican, and only a few minutes more to the Piazza Novana area. We could cross the Ponte Cavour in about 3-4 minutes from our hotel and be on the Via del Corso in about 7-8 minutes. The only caution I have about the location is that the streets in that area are a little crooked, and it's easy to get turned around without a map or guidance. The streets surrounding the hotel are quiet, which we appreciated, and there are a number of good restaurants nearby.

Breakfast at the hotel was fine, but crowded most mornings. On our last day, there was actually a line of people waiting to get a seat that lasted most of the morning. The hotel has a bar, which we used, but it was a bit expensive. There is a nice outdoor terrace as well (view is just the surrounding streets.) Overall we would stay again.

Stayed in April 2022.

Hotel is a great location for getting around the city and travelling to all the usual tourist hotspots.

Staff were very friendly throughout and helped with travel advice when needed.

Very clean throughout the hotel (all areas we visited & our room)

Breakfast wasn’t a vast selection but enough for us with some toast, pastries, cold meats, yoghurts and fruits with usual drinks options.

Small breakfast area but never over crowded at any time we visited and always a table immediately no waiting.

Only criticism was decor was a little dated for what I’d call 4 star.

And we had an adjoining room for some reason and the noise transfer was annoying at times as next door treated us to various music from a travel speaker or something.

4/5 or 8/10 for me.

Nice hotel, not necessarily a 4 star but a great base of operation for exploring the city and importantly clean!
