This hotel is in the perfect location for sightseeing in Rome.
We stayed in a family room that was essentially two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The hotel is 15 minute walk to the main shopping street, 30 minute walk to the main central attractions in the City and 30 minute walk in the opposite direction to the Vatican.
The room was absolutely fine if your expectations are managed in that this is a busy hotel in central Rome so naturally some wear and tear. This didn’t bother us as it was just a base to sleep. The bathrooms and room was cleaned daily, and have the essentials such as hairdryer, iron, toiletries. Good shower!
Breakfast was ok. There was a juicer, pastries, scrambled eggs, tea and coffee machine and selections of fruit, cheese and jams etc. Perfect for filling up before long days sightseeing,
Plenty of restaurants and a great Gelato stop 5 minutes walk down the road.
If you’re looking for something clean, safe, and a base to sleep in this is great. Kids aged 10 and 13 were perfectly happy here.
Staff were nice, but this is a very busy hotel with high footfall so naturally not as attentive as some higher end hotels. But we were perfectly happy with that.

We are dual Italian/American citizens, and travel to Italy quite often. We have to pass through Rome in order to drive to our home, and we ALWAYS stay at Hotel Mellini. Without exaggeration, this hotel is among the best in Rome with regard to room quality related to price, and location. The rooms are always clean, the linens are soft (very important to my sensitive skin), and the beds are equipped with both feather and hypoallergenic pillows. Like with breakfast, there's something for everyone. The hotel is located in a residential area, but within walking distance (10-20 minutes) of all major tourist attractions. There are fantastic restaurants close-by, and great shopping. But the best part of staying at Hotel Mellini is the staff. Everybody from the bellmen to the desk staff to those at the restaurant and bar is extremely kind and helpful, and everybody loves our little dogs. Five stars isn't enough!

Nice small hotel in the city centre. It’s located on a quiet street away from the traffic noise. We stayed in a suite which suited us perfectly as we had two separate rooms and separate bathrooms. The suite was nicely decorated although it was a little tired looking in places , a few cracked tiles in the bathroom that should be replaced and the wardrobe doors were dragging on the floor, both would be easy fixes in my opinion. The rooms were very clean with a turn down service in the evening. The breakfast in the hotel was quite good with a nice selection of everything hot and cold , and tasty fresh pastries. Any staff that we encountered were very friendly and helpful. We didn’t use the bar or restaurant but had a couple of drinks on the rooftop terrace which was nice . The location of the hotel is quite good with it being about 20/30 minutes walk from both the Vatican and the Spanish steps but away from the really busy streets and noise . We enjoyed our stay and would have no problem recommending it to anyone visiting Rome.

We are just home from a magnificent 3 night stay in Rome. The hotel was super! A short walk from all of the major attractions. The hotel is clean and friendly. I particularly appreciated the fresh water which is always available, especially during the hot weather. We opted to get a taxi from the airport, however there is a bus ride a mere five mins walk from the hotel at €8 a person. So we went back to the airport via bus! Definitely look into that! The breakfast was a wonderful choice and the staff were excellent! Thank you!

This is a wonderful hotel! The staff is fantastic. When we arrived jet lagged and exhausted on Wednesday, they switched our room so we could check in immediately mid-morning and go to sleep. Since then, they've been so helpful with every question and request we have. The location is within 20 minutes of most major places in central Rome (cabs are easy to get here) and is walkable to several important areas, too. The breakfast is impressive and generous. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are quiet. And again, the staff is excellent. Highly, highly recommended!

A hotel with a privileged location, close to the most important monuments of Rome and St. Peter's Square. Very safe area. The attention of the first level staff. They pay attention to the smallest details to make the guest feel at ease and do not require one to follow them especially if you are in Family. They're always attentive. The family room is super comfortable and relaxing with everything a Family needs. If you forget to hire a taxi to the airport, they solve the problem at a comfortable and market rate. In our case, we left the hotel 5am and when we arrived at the airport, the driver handed us a catering with breakfast that the Hotel staff had kindly prepared and sent us in practical utensils because for schedules we would not serve ourselves the buffet breakfast. This was the initiative of the Dei Mellini staff, which of course we recommend 200%.

This hotel is fantastic we stayed for 3 nights from 25th April to 28th April in 2024 we had Superior double and Superior triple bedroom as family of 5 adults . The rooms are spacious and clean has great facilities . We found all the staff at reception so helpful in regards too where to eat , how far tourist attractions are to walk , booking taxis etc , really friendly and personable . Equally the bar staff was so friendly too and engaging . We didn’t utilise the gym , we sat on rooftop terrace just have drinks up there in the evening enjoy sun. We brought drinks up from bar. The hotel is down a side street it’s in a fantastic location as it’s walkable distance to so many places there , they will provide you with maps . Don’t use Google maps don’t know why it doesn’t work there will bring you all different places especially if you book a tour and limited to time. Infact can’t fault any staff at this hotel from housekeeping to porters too as really helpful and friendly. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to others it’s excellent we loved our stay so glad we chose it to celebrate ours mums birthday . It truly has a warm atmosphere they go the extra mile to make sure your stay is comfortable and pleasant .

Can’t remember exactly, it would vary anyway depending on time of year and agency or supplier you’re using . We found that all the hotels in Rome were quite expensive but the Mellini was to a good standard and the location was pretty central and good for walking to all the attractions .
We are 45 minutes away from Fiumicino Airport, we can arrange pick up and transfer back, just send us an email.
