We stayed here for 10 days in December 2019/January 2020, right before the world shut down for Covid. (As an aside, Rome during the Christmas season was wonderful. in Vatican City if you are there during the Christmas season, the exhibit 100 Presepi (cribs) is a must-see.) The staff and service and Kolbe were wonderful. It's not the cheapest but very reasonable for quality and location. We were going to stay somewhere else that was more expensive but I'm so glad we didn't. Kolbe was perfect for us. The breakfast each morning was extensive. very fresh and good quality. walking distance to circus Maximus where we found there was a New Years eve celebration with live performances, food tents (cannoli food booth!), and it was BYOB which was a nice surprise to this American to be able to walk in with our wine we bought at the pizza place across the street. On New Years day, Kolbe was walking distance to a big New Years day parade and festival with performances, food, art, and music. On Sundays, there was a locals fresh food and produce market which was on the same street as the Kolbe, maybe a 3-minute walk. It was a very unique and local experience to eat and sample foods and oils and buy some things to take home. Kolbe was also walking distance to Trastavere where we ate dinner several times. I was so sad to think about how much Rome and the wonderful staff at the Kolbe suffered in the early days of the pandemic. I can't wait to return! We stayed in a room with a loft which was very nice but will probably opt for a regular room next time to avoid the stairs on the middle of the night bathroom trips.

Room Tip: We had a room that faced the garden which was lovely and quiet. Next time we might try a city view.

Dear PWTexan, thank you very much for your amazing and exhaustive feedback! It's great to see that you're thinking of Rome and of us. We hope you are fine too! Italy and Rome are reopening and getting ready for guests from all over the world and we too can't wait to see you again soon. You are absolutely right about the Christmas season: it has a magical touch and in Rome the weather is most often pleasant enough to walk around and visit all the majestic monuments of the eternal city. Now we're heading towards the summer season which has its own charm too: eating outside in our garden or on one of the many terraces Rome offers, having a stroll in the nearby Trastevere, enjoying delicious ice creams and the sunny weather. We are glad to see you enjoyed our neighborhood - right in the middle of the ancient part of Rome yet close to everything worth seeing, which is a lot here in the historical centre! And yes, the market a few steps from our hotel is a great place to learn about the locals and their habits. At the Kolbe Hotel Rome we have several room types and on our website you can find more information, or you can contact us by email about your next trip to Rome. Our staff is happy to be of help and we all look forward to welcoming you again in our safe and sanitized environment! Warm regards, Kolbe Hotel Rome - Marieke

Hotel's Favourite
We traveled with 3 year old twins and needed special assistance and care. We got all of it in Kolbe hotel, where everybody was willing to help. We really enjoyed our stay. I would rate it as outstanding level of service. Also, the hotel itself is very beautiful. Location is just great! One minus. I could not connect to Wifi with my PC, though all other devises were connected. And indeed from our group it was only me who had this problem.

Dear Guest, thank you so much for your amazing feedback on our service. It's great to see that you enjoyed your family stay in our hotel. We all loved having your 3 year old twins as our special guests! It can happen, due to specific settings in your pc, that you can't access the wifi. Next time you're in Rome please ask the Reception if they have any suggestions. We hope you'll soon have another occasion to return with your family! Kind regards, Marieke - Kolbe Hotel Rome

Customer service was excellent - due to COVID-19 we were unable to travel to Italy as schedule in June 2020. They graciously provided us with a generous reservation voucher to enable us to reschedule for any date prior to Sept. 30, 2021.

Dear 646sherry, many thanks for having taken the time to send us your compliments on our customer service. With all the safety protocols we trust that travelling can soon return to normality - or perhaps to a new 'normal'. It is simply wonderful to visit Italy with its many beautiful sites, monuments and museums and Rome, due to the mild climate, is worth a visit in almost all seasons. We are very much looking forward to hearing from you with the new dates and to welcoming you in our hotel! Kind regards, Marieke - Kolbe Hotel Rome

We stayed at The Kolbe Hotel Rome twice last year - at the beginning and end of our trip to Puglia and the Neapolitan Riviera. We've been to Rome a number of times but cannot think of a better place to stay while in Rome. The Kolbe Hotel has an excellent location: across the street from the back wall of the Roman Forum, about a block and a half from the Circus Maximus, convenient walking distance to the Palatine Hill, Coliseum, Arch of Constantine, Victor Emanuel Monument, and the Gates of the Roman Forum! The front facade of the Kolbe Hotel Rome is unpreposing and located on the Via Di San Teodoro, itself a very unassuming side street. You'll have to look carefully to notice the hotel (see the pictures below). There is a large lobby with plenty of seating for weary and/or social travellers and the Desk Clerk(s) were very helpful and friendly. We had two very different rooms during our two stays at the Kolbe Hotel: Room #211 was located towards the back of the hotel on floor 1-1/2(?). It was the only room located just off a gallery reached from an extra flight of stairs - almost like a private mini-penthouse. It was a nice room, good sized with asymetric walls. There were two twin beds (with 4 pillows and a white duvet) with night stands and lamps, a small desk & chair, wardrobe closet (with removable hangers), and only one luggage rack. An unusual feature was that the large TV was mounted on a pedestal stand and positioned at the foot of the bed (basically in the center of the room!). The bathroom was good-sized and roomy with a tub/shower combination and a bidet. The shower had a 1/2 glass partition and a decent shower head. The bathroom had an attractive dark red granite sink counter and floor. The sink had a single lever faucet handle. There was a heated towel rack with 4-6 towels; and a nice selection of toiletries; with bar soap, but no face cloths, and only plastic drinking cups. The room had no complimentary bottles of water, nor a coffee urn or fixings. It did have a mini bar. There was no overhead light but the lighting was controlled from bedside. ; and there were some spare electrical outlets. Dinner at the Hotel Kolbe dining room was very good, but the breakfasts, served on the terrace were only fair to good. Room #233 was altogether different: Located on the front wall of the Kolbe Hotel Rome it had a view from window facing the front of the hotel and across the street to the back side of the Roman Forum. Room #233 also had a sofa/loveseat (which might have been a pull-out sleeper sofa) that backed onto the head of the circular bed. All/both were located in the center of the room with the bed facing towards the windows. The high headboard of the bed served as a divider between the two parts of the room. There were two TV, one each serving the bed, the other facing the sofa. This is a great place to stay and we'd be pleased to stay there again on our next trip to Rome.

Dear Bill, thanks a lot for your wonderful and very detailed feedback. We are happy to see that you enjoyed your stay (twice) in our hotel and appreciate it very much that you took the time to publish your impressions of the rooms. You're right: in our rooms facing the Palatine Hill/Roman Forum there is a sofabed for two. When it's not used as a bed it simply is a sofa, where one can relax while watching the tv. The view on ancient Rome is unique and we hope you had the opportunity to visit the very interesting archaeological area of Colosseum/Palatine/Roman Forum. From one of the terraces on the Palatine Hill you can see the hotel (and room 233). It's good to know that you have pleasant memories about this amazing trip to Italy and we are grateful for your kind contribution. Looking forward to welcome you again soon in our hotel, warm regards, Marieke - Kolbe Hotel Rome

Dear Paul, many thanks for your amazing vote and feedback! We are really happy to see that we've been a positive contribution to your honeymoon. Rome is indeed a very romantic and relaxed city, an ideal destination for honeymooners, with lots of beautiful spots for taking pictures and creating wonderful memories. Our hotel also happens to be a wedding location. The charming green courtyard garden and the spacious rooftop terrace with its incredible view on Rome are perhaps the most beautiful wedding location in ancient Rome and will provide for an unforgettable day. We loved your description of Trastevere! It is at a short stroll from the hotel and probably the best area of Rome for having dinner in one of the many typical restaurants or trattorie. We hope you'll soon have the possibility to return to Rome. We all look forward to welcoming happy guests again! Warm regards, Marieke - Kolbe Hotel Rome
