We stayed here for 4 nights. The staff was always friendly and helpfull. The room was clean. If you are planning to discover the city by foot the hotel is in a perfect location. You have all the biggies (Colosseum, Forum Romanum, Vatican etc.) in 30 minute walking distance and when you come home in the evening you have lots...

The rooms are basic but very comfortable and cleaned every day, there is a wardrobe, bed, desk, sink and a fan. Huge windows with shutters. The bathrooms are shared but you have everything you need in your cubicle, they are also super clean.I was on the little lane on the third floor and it was quiet and I had a...

As my first time experience at a hostel I was really surprised at the quality of this place versus my expectations.. The staff were very polite and helpful. The rooms were very clean and a good size. I was sharing but there were also single rooms, as I was with a large group of people and all were happy with...

I can't help but be a tad confused at other reviewers anger at the location. My boyfriend and I thought this was a fantastic location. It is a ten minute walk to Castel Sant Angelo, from there - it is a five minute walk to St Peters Basilica and Vatican City. From there, we got the hop-on-hop-off bus service to...

The hotel is well situated, really near Trastevere, where you have a very vivid nightlife (and affordable places for eating too!). The hotel room was OK. I stayed in a room with shared bathroom, which was located at the other end of the floor where my room was located. The bathroom area had like 7 different bathrooms, each with its...

I stayed in Villa Riari for three nights. It's in nice area of Trastevere - close to all restaurants and cafes but in located on quiet street so you can get good sleep. It's quite far away from the nearest bust stop (10 minutes walk) and very far from underground. Rooms are very clean, but simple, and beds are small....

Room 306 is beside the communal toilets and bathrooms - you will have a couple hours of people stomping around using the bathrooms and the doors have been specially designed to slam, and the residents appear to enjoy slamming them - too much marble and hard surfaces to bounce the sound around - not worth 60 euro per night -...

We had a lovely stay in Villa Riari. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the hotel is very clean and has a nice garden and our economy room was nice and big. We stayed on the 2nd floor and the WiFi in our room was really fast. For us the location was perfect, we don`t use public transport often...

This hotel is located in Trastevere, about 15 min walk from tram stop. It isn't convenient location if it's your first trip to Rome and you plan to visit all sightseeings, but you will like the neighborhood for numerous restaurants and cafes. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel was almost empty and quiet, but soundproof is not good, and, in...

I like the price but the location is not good. The public transportation doesn't reach it, no bus or no metro. It's a 30 minute walk to most of the main attractions in Rome. There are very few stores or cafes nearby. The wifi was terrible. However, the staff are very nice and will make an effort to improve your...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
