Room was clean and comfortable enough, if a bit grim. There are NO other hotel facilities. Despite the information given in the room and on their website, it isn't possible to get a drink in the hotel and the 'garden' doesn't appear to be used. Worse, I wasn't told at check-in, nor when I went in the evening and again...

Hotel Montreal was a disappointment. The grumpy old men staffing the hotel were not warm, friendly, nor helpful. In fact, we felt like we were cheated with regard to the tourist bus companies. We asked for a recommendation and were strong armed into the "Green line" tour bus. We gave a 10 euro deposit to the hotel and were told...

Pros - budget stay, close to termini, good eateries, walkable to pantheon, colloseum, trevi fountain etc. Cons - not very clean, breakfast was in an adjacent hotel ( palatable though), wifi was hit and miss, noise from the main street, one of the receptionist was a bit grumpy. 3/5.

This is a small but functional hotel near Termini station and only a 10-min walk to the Colosseum and Forum. The room was cosy with a good-sized with a very comfortable double bed and good bedding. It had a reasonable shower area which was rectangular and larger than the small square ones you find in some basic hotels. There was...

In an excellent city centre location, a 10 minute walk from Termeni, and just beside the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore. Clean, with friendly staff. Some rooms quite small, and breakfast is in the hotel next door. And do remember to close the lift door properly or no one else can call it! Great value.

We stayed at the Hotel Montreal for our break in Rome and cannot fault it whatsoever. We were well aware that this was a three star hotel and therefore expected a basic yet comfortable stay. The hotel exceeded our expectation by far. The hotel itself is a lovely traditional building situated in a prime location that allowed us to walk...

Spent a long weekend (december 10-11-12) in Rome with the four of our family. Booked two rooms in this nice cosy hotel. Had a warm welcome upon arrival at the hotel. After signing in, received the keys for the rooms at the first floor. Romantic bedrooms together with a clean and good bathroom. Well equipped with small furniture, television, small...

This small hotel is a 10 minute walk away from the station, where we arrived on the Leonardo Express train from FCO airport. It's located on a busy road, a stone's throw from the impressive Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore. Expect traffic noise if your room overlooks the street. It's not on the prettiest of streets but we felt safe enough....

Staff is wonderful and accommodating. They'll be happy to let you know of any extra costs as soon as it happens. I arrived in the middle of the night about 6 hours earlier than my parents did (who booked the room) and although I did have to book another room at the hotel while I slept off my jet lag,...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
