Stayed in this hotel january 2020 with 3 others i booked a room 4 people which I thought was funky looking on website and nice interior but all I got was good size sitting room plain cream walls with a table 3 chairs and sofa bed which was like sleeping on steel very uncomfortable for 3 nights stay, bedroom was a proper bed for other 2 guest but no heavy curtains hung only voile which brighten up in the room and woke you minute sunrise came up very early only dowfall of room. Please read carefully what rooms u booked I'm not sure if u have upgrade to get room that advertised on website
room were cleaned every day
Reception area is very modern and very friendly.
Restraunt and bar in hotel lovely hotel gives u discount for happy hour 2 for1 cocktail and 10% of dinner.
Hotel.is in good location 5 mins from tram number 8 bring u straight to square where u can start touring
There is a snack bar shop on tram road that do lovely pastries coffee smokes like a small shop also sell smokes very cheap 4.50 compared at home ireland 😂 and u buy your tram ticket there also €1.50 return but only last 90mins
We have breakfast for our stay but only ate there once as teenager were fussy and not great trying different foods . there is selection of pastries cereal juices fruit bread coffee hot food (sausages German I think scrambled eggs bacon)
I would stay here again but I'd make sure there is more comfortable bed as it very good prices and not to far from attraction
Rome maps makes you think your far away from things but most attraction are walkable when u get to last stop on number 8.

Myself and my partner stayed here for 3 nights in an "Executive room". We found the price to be fair considering we only booked it 3 days before arrival, however I think it was a little expensive for what we got. While the hotel itself and the communal areas are lovely and quirky. It is not the usual traditional Italian hotel but we loved the modern artsy decor throughout. We found the hotel to be very noisy, we were on the top floor so can't say what the other floors were like but there was a consistent loud humming noise throughout the night which stopped for 5ish minute intervals. Not sure if this was a generator, water system or lift, but if you are anyway a light sleeper maybe ask for a different room. Could also hear our neighbours conversations and switches clicking so rooms are definitely not sound proof. There was also only one power socket, that didn't allow for a power adapter to fit, so we had to unplug the tv to get a power socket. The room was spotlessly clean however the bathroom could do with some refurbishment with cracks in the sink and plaster falling off in the shower, but overall we were happy enough with the room. The bed was comfy and the blackout blinds were great.

All of the staff were great to deal with and the area was also a great place to stay. The number 8 tram will get you directly into the city centre in a few minutes, and 3 stops the opposite direction to the train station for the airport, there are also plenty of bus routes around too.

There is a small cafe right on the corner of the main street with great coffee and pastries, we found ourselves going here for a coffee in the morning instead of the hotel included breakfast. The hotel breakfast was ok for a grab and go situation, there was an option of scrambled eggs, cakes, sweet treats, juices and coffee. Everything was a little too sweat for us for early in the morning so we skipped this. Ate once in the hotel restaurant which was great, a small menu but everything we got was delicious and for a reasonable price too. I would definitely recommend grabbing a drink or dinner in the Treefolk public house which is a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

Great hotel for being in Trastevere, without being „in the middle of it“. I do recommend this hotel. We stayed here for 6 days in August 2021, which is always a bit difficult time in Italy (plus COVID?). The Bar was closed on the weekend and opens at 6pm in the evening. The breakfast team was short of hands and the food selection is common for Italy (lots of cakes, no kitchen to get any other egg than the scrambled egg at the buffet). And if you just relax and have time - all is perfect. We stayed in an „Executive Room“ on the 7th floor, which was clearly worth the extra charge. Parking was either just behind the hotel (for us free, because we booked on their website, otherwise 20EUR a day) or just around the corner, for 8EUR a day. My wife liked the little “artsy” details throughout the hotel and enjoyed our stay. If you come to rome for the pure roman “feeling” (whatever that means for you), this may not be your place. If you are looking for for a hotel that offers what you expect in a efficient and pleasant way and then get around the town from here - this may be it.

Hotel Ripa is an excellent choice for your stay if you are looking for a very fun boutique hotel in the lively Trastevere region of Rome.

The décor is tongue-in-cheek and unique. From the giant, lit rubber ducks lining the road outside the entrance, to the patterned corridors, to the art on the balconies and in the rooms themselves, everywhere is dotted with quirky humour.

Our room reflected the hotel’s overall idiosyncratic style, with a retro and minimalist chic look. The views from the balcony were little less than spectacular. The air conditioning is very good, keeping us at a comfortable temperature even in early August, and the external blinds do an excellent job at keeping out the sun’s rays.

The staff at the reception, the restaurant and the bar are all very pleasant and accommodating (even in these times of Covid). They made sure we felt welcomed, even leaving extra savoiardini for us at reception having noticed we enjoyed them at breakfast.

When we stayed the Cornavirus regulations were in force, so there was no buffet breakfast, however there was a good range of baked goods, fruit, cereals and yogurts. We also had chance to dine at their restaurant, which had a good if reduced menu (accessible via QR code), with a particular highlight being delicious fruttini (frozen fruit filled with sorbet).

Loved the modern ambiance of huge fun animals in the foyer. The breakfast table offers a wide range of choice - quite a lot of cakes! The bedrooms are comfortable and quiet and ours was large enough to satisfy people who wished to stay for a good length of time, with table, television, and a small balcony. The staff are incredibly helpful with useful advice. Public transport (such as trams and buses) is a very short trot from the hotel and takes no time to reach the main sites. We'll certainly stay here again.

Came here for 4 nights using a voucher obtained from a planned trip 2years ago which was cancelled due to Covid hotel about 15 mins walk to the main sights

Hotel was on UK terms an average 3*

Rooms were comfortable enough , very clean and new towels and sheets etc daily

Bathroom was very clean and shower excellent and powerful. However as always these types of hotel always have a shower curtain which sticks to your bottom when using it!!!! Also most hotels I stay in ( which aren’t that many) always have something wrong with the toilet and this is no exception with a loose toilet seat

Downstairs the toilet adjoining the breakfast room had the same problem with the addition of the door lock being faulty

Had an evening meal there which was very quickly served (I commented it would put McDonald’s to shame) and the burger was excellent but my partner had pasta in a cheese sauce which was very dry

Breakfasts were something else. Being Continental you would expect cake and croissants , coffee was from a machine you did yourself and there was a choice of scrambled egg and fatty bacon

Fruit was very much not in evidence and my partner had some pineapple and melon which could be only described as rancid/ fermenting . This was pointed out on day one and was never changed during the next 3

All in all an okish hotel providing you know what to avoid but hopefully the management will see this and do something about it

I visited in October 21 to visit my daughter that is attending the American University. I read a thousand reviews before I booked and for my budget which was in the area of 100$ a night I have found this hotel to be more than satisfactory. The front desk speaks english , they offer a very good breakfast included in your rate and the rooms are a very good size and are extremely clean. I stayed in a superior room and although I read reviews of the bed being hard and the curtains being sheer I would disagree the bed is firm but comfortable there are plenty of outlets and the windows and balcony door have metal electric blinds that block out the light completely. The switch is hidden behind the curtains but it makes the room a cave. Over all I would definitely stay here again Trastevere is a great section that is a 20 minute walk from the center of Rome but is preferable to me as it gives you a better feel of living in Rome outside of the main tourist area. There is a tram right outside the Hotel as well which makes it 10 min to the center.

I booked a “club” experience direct with the hotel which includes half board (breakfast and dinner included), plus complementary upgrade. However upon check in, when I got to the room it immediately had a musty gym-like smell. Everything is dated and a bit worn, my room was very dark, and facing onto another building. When asked if I could move to a brighter room the receptionist said they were fully booked so upgrade was not possible. Location feels like it’s in a bit of a “no man’s land” part of Trestevere, so did not want to walk around there on own at night. As to the design touches, there are some hotels that do “modern” design well, this is not one. It just felt like the vibe was weird, and they tried too hard and failed. Plus, I got woken up early as I could hear other guests talking in the next room as walls were thin!
Also in all interactions with reception seemed quite unorganised. Considering the price paid, I am certain I would have been better staying somewhere else.

I’ve stayed at this property quite a few times owing to frequent work visits to Rome. The recent stay, after a 4 year gap, came as an unpleasant surprise. The quality of the hotel, furnishing, furnishing, room amenities etcetera has drastically gone down. The staff though are as warm as always. The location of the hotel is still great within walking distance of the centre and of trastevere train station and they are value for money. If you have no previous comparison mode and will spend minimal time at the hotel, then go for it.

This quirky, boutique hotel is very well located to access the main sites of Rome. (walking) Restaurants and taxi rank nearby. The outside seating area for drinks is jasmine covered pergola illuminated by strings of lights and yellow rubber ducks!! The main feature in the lobby is a large silver Mickey Mouse and other features are a large red gorilla on a pool table, and seating based upon silver animals an lips shaped sofas. The bar and restaurant staff deserve a special mention as they create a lively pleasant vibe with complimentary tapas available on the bar. Breakfast is served in a separate airy room down a short corridor featuring a lifesize flamingo!. We did not intend to eat in the restaurant but we pleasantly surprised by the quality and value of the food. Complimentary lemoncellos were also a pleasant surprise.

Answer from Ana K

Yes, there’s a big buffet breakfast, self-service and it tncludes bacon and eggs. There are also cold cuts and cheeses and yoghurt, nuts too, so plenty of protein. Good choice of bread and a toaster available (not always a given in Italy). Lots of different pastries and cakes though nothing gluten free. Vegetable milk upon request.
