Like most inner-city hotels in older buildings the room is on the 'bijou' side and en suite is also very 'compact' but the location, service and value more than make up for this. Everything was clean and it decent order, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. There are brilliant bars and restaurants with a short staggering distances and beautiful historic sites within metres. Grazie mille to everyone at the Amalfi Hotel.

I chose the Amalfi for it being very good value in a convenient location. I appreciated the old fashioned style, friendliness and cosiness. My single room was pretty tiny but that’s fine with me and the bathroom was actually quite roomy, updated and very clean. It just bothered me a little that I couldn’t control the room temperature; it was a bit chilly one evening. The wifi in my room was terrible, but later I learned that there were all sorts of boosters or adaptors I could have asked for at reception. There was enough selection in the cheery breakfast room to have a good breakfast before heading out each day. I would happily stay at the Amalfi again.

I stayed here with my best friend for a girls weekend away. We got a lovely welcome when we arrived. The decor is so cute and the whole place has a lot of character. We are both young girls in our early 20s alone in an European city and we both felt very safe in this hotel. No one could access the hotel without a key and each room had there own key and a lock on the inside. The room was cleaned everyday. The location was perfect with the main attractions being between a 10 and 30 minute walk away. Great to see the streets of Rome along the way. Just outside the hotel was a range of restaurants. Great value and amazing food just outside the door. At the restaurant just below I got a coffee and pastry for €3. There are plenty of shops nearby and the main train station is only a few minutes away which takes you straight to the Vatican for only €1.50. I actually couldn’t fault this place.

Stayed at hotel Amalfi September 20-27 2021 and loved the hotel and staff. The entire staff was helpful and friendly and my room was clean, comfortable and perfect. The outdoor patio was a great place to enjoy breakfast that was provided and delivered to my room every morning. The location was ideal, close enough to the Termini train station to get there in about 6 or 7 minutes but far enough away to not have noise issues. It was also a quick walk to Rome’s best attractions. Plenty of shops and restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Plan on staying here again on my next trip to Italy. I’ve included a couple of photos, one is the fresco above my bed and the other is the amazing patio which was a very nice plus.

We required two individual beds. One for me and one for my daughter. Could only reserve a “triple”. A two person bed and a single tucked in a small sitting area prior to the bathroom.
Upon arrival the shower drain was clogged. The staff used a plunger and it was draining normally for three showers. During day two it was filling up again.
Expect to hear your neighbors. If you are road side the traffic noise is excessive until around midnight and again starting around 5am.
We elected the breakfast option. It is a buffet type breakfast. They require you to sign up for time slot. (30 min) The second day we selected 7am - the earliest time slot. I arrived just after 7 and the food was not ready. Not completely ready until after our time slot expired. Not sure why they require time slots. There was never more than two couples eating at a time. We ended up at the corner bakery- fresh pastries and cappuccino. Far better than the hotel.
Convenient to the termini station-yes.
Expected better for the price.

Dear 759Patrickq, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! We’re glad you enjoyed our location between the Central Station and the Colosseum! The reason you found only one triple room available is because it was the last and only room available having been a last minute booking. The triple room (as you can see in all photos) consists of two communicating rooms and the layout of the beds can be a double bed + a single bed or three single beds. If we had known that you would have preferred three single beds for two people we would have changed immediately. We apologize for this. The hotel has anti-noise windows but unluckily it could be some noise as all hotels in the city center, but we certainly also have internal rooms for the most sensitive people. If we had known, we could have offered you a room at the back of the hotel. Upon your arrival we have given you the first available room with a free early check in to let you rest after a long journey. Breakfast is a very important moment of the day but also a moment to be managed with caution and responsibility to ensure the safety of guests. For this reason we ask our kind customers to reserve the table and avoid unnecessary and dangerous gatherings. We regret not being able to explain it adequately. We agree that the nearby bakeries are of excellent quality and in fact they provide us with fresh bread and croissants every morning! The breakfast we offer to our guests is a little more varied and in addition to hot drinks made at the moment such as cappuccino we serve: marmalade butter honey yogurt cereals rusks Nutella Fresh croissants Fresh cakes Freshly sliced cold cuts (ham, salami, mortadella) cheeses scrambled eggs boiled eggs bacon Fresh fruit and other products depending on the day. Everything being cooked fresh in the morning it is likely that the lady had a little delay on some preparations and we are sorry for that. It’s always important to speak with the Staff cause we’re always willing to help! Thank you again for your suggestions! Regards Hotel Amalfi Francesco Nigro

This hotel is great if you want to be within walking distance of a multitude of nice restaurants and historical sites (also close to station). The rooms are pretty small and the shower was tiny with a rather weak flow of water. I also found the bed incredibly hard although my husband was Ok with it! The frescos on the ceilings of all the rooms are a nice touch and the staff were lovely. Breakfast was adequate but nothing fancy.

Dear Wendy H, Thanks for reviewing us! We are pleased you enjoyed the excellent location in front of Santa Maria Maggiore (whose ceiling is adorned with the first gold from the new world), near the central station and a few steps from the Colosseo. The frescoes that decorate our historic structure (there are only 176 historic hotels in Rome) are a feature that makes the Amalfi Hotel unique in Italy. In every room there is an orthopedic beds the could be hard for people used to very soft mattress. But just advise us and we can change with a softer mattress or use a soft topper! Rest is very important and we are able, if advised, to meet different needs. Unfortunately, there is no a mattress suitable for everyone! We really hope to host you again in the future! Do not forget to contact us before arrival via email for the best offers, the free breakfast and to organize your stay in all details (internal / external room, shower / bathtub, soft / hard mattress, high floor / low floor etc. ). We are here for you! Regards Hotel Amalfi Francesco Nigro

The hotel is well located, just 5-10 minutes walk from Termini station on via Merulana. Despite being on a main road the windows insulate a lot of the noise. The decoration in the rooms is something to behold.
Due to Covid breakfast is being served in your room. You order this the night before. On our first night we didn't realise this, but when we appeared the following morning and had it explained to us, our breakfast was delivered just 15 minutes later. Thank you.
All the staff we encountered were really helpful and friendly.

We found the location a bit out of tourist area. Rome is a big city with lots of walking on cobbles , hills and steps . It was a 15 min walk from the colosseum.
Sadly the room didnt live up to our expectations!
Hardest bed I’ve ever slept on . Horrendous back ache in the morning . Numb hips and legs during the night .
Hot hot and hot room with no way of cooling unless you open the window onto a noisy busy road !
No tea or coffee left in room.
Decorated ceiling wrong way round to view the bed .
Shower cubicle very small , so pointless having fancy shower settings as you can’t move forward to appreciate them.
If you are tall- you will have your knees up against the shower cubicle whilst sitting on the loo.

Dear Dear Jelleybaby25, Thank you for taking the time for reviewing us! We're glad you have enjoyed our location and in particular that the Colosseum, the most visited site in the World in 2019, it's just a short walk from us throught the ancient Colle Oppio garden. Of course we're sad we didn't manage to satisfy you in full! I will try to explain the solutions that we could have offered you if you had told us about your problems: A) Hard bed : at the Amalfi Hotel we use the latest generation orthopedic beds. We understand how each of us is used differently at home. Therefore we have different types of mattresses and toppers more or less soft. Just speak with us! B) Hot hot room: in winter we have the heating service on and in summer the air conditioning service as per municipal legislation. if it is too hot we can: 1) Turn off the heating in your room. 2) Provide you with an independent cooling fan (the staff offered you). 3) If you prefer to sleep with the window open but without the noise of the city we can offer you an internal room. You will not have the fantastic view of the ancient Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore but on the internal garden. C) No Tea or Coffee left in room: We have tea and coffee always available in the lobby for free and a kettle in each room. We consider unhygienic to leave products in the rooms which then, as in most hotels, remain between the passage between one customer and another, only the products used being added again. Certainly if you had informed us that we would have prepared a complete set of tea and coffee in your room, it is certainly not a big problem for us. D) We understand that the showers are not very large. In your case, the shower had the size 75x75 with a newly installed hydromassage shower column. We certainly have rooms with a bathtub for those who need larger spaces. The hotel is one of the 176 historic hotels in rome dating back to before 1950, although we do not have huge spaces. E) Every art form is free, each of us contextualises it and gives it a sense. The perspective changes from our points of view and we believe it is right that you have your own. The famous painter Merosi called "the Caravaggetto" who created this work leaves room for each of us. I would like to restore your faith in the Hotel Amalfi. I'm sure we could find the right room for your needs. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future! Regards Hotel Amalfi Francesco Nigro

Hotel staff is very good & helpful.

The location is about 8 minute walk from Termini and 20-30 minute walk to all attractions which can be a bit hard given the heat & humidity.

The breakfast spread is OK.

The rooms are really small with limited space for moving around or keeping big bags. The bathroom is also small and the shower can feel a bit claustrophobic.

Overall OK.

The hotel is in the Monti rioni (district), right across from St Maria Maggiora. It is a small and slightly quirky hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. My room was a single room but an interesting set up, it had a bedroom, small but sufficient, and then a huge step up to a door to a balcony which was lovely and to the bathroom. The staff are very helpful if you need information or directions. There is a small lift so if you don't want to walk the stairs with your luggage that is helpful. The breakfast is simple but sufficient. It is walking distance from Rome Termini, if you google maps work properly, and has metro stations close by. There is also a taxi stand just around the corner and it is about a 14-minute walk to the Colosseum. Lots of places to eat nearby, the bakery/cafe a few doors down is great.
