Visited March 2017 with my partner and we were very lucky to have a fantastic room over looking the Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore which is truly beautiful all lit up at night and well worth a visit to during the day. The roof top terrace with fantastic view over city was a great plus for the hotel along with the...

In walking distance to all main sites except the Vatican but the train station is 5 minutes walk away and really easy to use the tube (Metro). Breakfast was good enough to start the day with. Rooms are big enough and clean. Lots of good and local restaurants to enjoy. There is a "Tax" you have to pay on check...

We spent 7 nights at this hotel recently. The rooms are fine. Beds are comfy. Bathrooms are extremely tight but clean and do-able. Great breakfasts with a view. Near the train station and hop-on/hop-off buses. Most of the staff were great. The wifi was terrible in the rooms. It seemed to get worse the longer we were there. If you...

On a recommendation we went on the off chance of a table and we're lucky. The resteraunt has a step in back in time feel - in a charming way - painted frescos , silver candle sticks even down to the menu folder and menu choices . The staff were friendly and service attentive , the head chef coming out...

this quaint hotel is perfectly located. we picked this place because of it's close proximity to the train station. Its a 400m walk, very easy to get to. The Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica is your view from the delightful rooftop dining room. Spectacular. The rooms are comfortable, not spacious, but still ample room for my husband and I. There's a...

Located very close to Termini railway station ( 5 min walk) and also you can reach Fori Romani and Colosseo with a short walking. The best of hotel is represented by the sight on S. I stayed 5 nights at Mecenate Palace on my recent visit to Rome. It is in a perfect location, a short 10 - 15 min walk from Termini train station, Santa Marie Maggiore Basilica is right out the door and to the left, and the Hop on Hop off bus stop is a block away. My room was small and...

We stayed here for 4 nights in Rome, it was the perfect location for visiting everything. We were never more than an hours walk from any attraction (furthest being the Vatican) though of course there are many transport links too - termini station is 5 minutes up the road. The staff here were all very friendly and helpful, and the...

Lovely hotel, we upgraded to a deluxe room with views of Santa Maggoire, could not believe how the windows blocked all the noise (with exception to the church bells which do stop from 9pm until the next morning so no issue). Rooms good, average size for age of building with all facilities, bathroom was long with 2 doors, one where...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
