Nestled in a convenient spot, the Mecenate Palace Hotel delights guests with its traditional and stylish ambiance, complete with comfortable beds and well-furnished rooms. Many reviewers praise the hotel's cleanliness and the rooftop views, although some find the rooms a tad snug and the dining pricey. The service garners compliments for its helpfulness, yet some inconsistencies have been noted. While the location near transport and attractions is a hit, opinions on value diverge, with some questioning the cost relative to the experience.

We selected this hotel because of its 4-star rating and proximity to the train station. It was easy to get there on foot. Our room was ready at 2 pm check-in. We were leaving before breakfast the next morning so did not book a rate with the meal included. However, there was an electric kettle as well as tea and instant coffee on a tray in our room. This was the only hotel during our 2-week travels in Italy that provided a way to make a hot beverage in our room. So appreciated!
Also worth mentioning is the beautiful rooftop bar and restaurant. Go up at least 30 minutes before sunset in order to get a good seat.
Many thanks to the front desk staff for securing a car to FCO (must pay in cash!) and for offering to put our postcards in the mail.

Highly recommend this unpretentious but very good quality and value for money stay. Would definately return. Handy location only 15 mins walk to Coliseum, friendly staff, comfortable rooms, decent breakfasts and bar cocktails were excellent with the happy hour prices only 5 euros even full price 8 euros. Rooftop seating for evening drinks overlooking the stunning basilica papale santa maria maggiore or daytime sunshine for a read makes for a gr8 relaxed base.

As staying for 3 nights wanted somewhere a bit more up marked, and this hotel ticked all the boxes, as only 10 mins walk from Termini station. Very nice décor as a 4 star hotel, porter took our bags up to room, only small for 3 of us but all rooms looked same size, but comfy beds good bathroom air conditioning worked well and a nice aray of bathroom soaps/shampoos etc.
Included was breakfast which had quite a few english items to choose from but the bacon was the worst ever seen anywhere, nice big continentle range of foods etc to choose from as well. I asked for two teas and was brought 2 expresso’s. Changed it straight away but then came with no milk.
You have to take meals on sky lounge on top floor outside with 360 degree views of Rome fantastic.
This is where you have the restaurant for meals in the evening but were very very expensive, we ate just to the right of hotel in a restaurant on the corner with views of the church over the road, great food and drinks not the cheapest but reasonable prices with a nice outlook and pleasant staff, and where we used to stop off for a drink at lunch time. Hotel can book you a transfer to and from the airport, for 5 of us 80 euro (on the train would have been 85 euros) 50 mins in rush hour traffic well worth it.
No doubt would stay here again as perfect location and great staff.

On a recent trip to Rome we had booked into this hotel for 3 nights. On arrival we were taken to our room to find that there was an overpowering smell of sewage in the bathroom. We asked to be allocated a different room, not an unreasonable request under the circumstances! Having gone through a range of options with the receptionist they were unable to offer us accommodation that suited our needs, so eventually we decided we had no option but look for an alternative hotel. The attitude of the receptionist was dismissive, rude and very unhelpful. I asked would we be charged and was told that I would have to get in touch with the Manager. On returning home I wrote several emails to the hotel outlining our experience, to date I have had no reply, and of course we were charged for staying in a hotel that we didn't use as result of poor housekeeping on the part of the hotel! Surely it's not too much to ask that rooms be checked before guests are brought to their room? One other thing to mention, I had requested that we be on one of the lower floors as one of our party will not use a lift. We had been allocated a room on the 2nd floor as requested but they failed to mention that breakfast is served on the 9th floor!

A group of 8 of us spent 4 nights at this hotel. The rooms were well kept and maintained, with updated baths. The roof top terrace, where the breakfast was served, was a great place to stop and relax in the evening before going out to dinner.
Within 2 to 3 blocks we found some incredible restaurants, where the locals dined, and the meal prices were extremely reasonable. The hotel is a short walk to both the train station and the metro stop. Just across the street was a church that was originally built between 300-400AD (Santa Maria) and quite interesting inside. The staff at the front desk was always eager to help, as were those who worked on the roof top terrace. As an added bonus, immediately attached to the hotel was a great gelato shop.

Booked the rooftop restaurant for my wife’s 50th birthday, although a great location the view was impeded by the wall, still a great view for photos though. Then came the food, we both ordered mixed meats and cheese, this was quite nice, cured meats and a selection of cheeses. The main however was a different story, I ordered the fillet steak and mushrooms, it arrived cold and had to send it back, when the second attempt arrived it was unseasoned and bland, the mushrooms were like eating slimy worms. At this point my wife had eaten her main so decided just to press in and eat mine. After finishing the waiter asked how it was and I told him it was unseasoned, his response was “well we like to keep it simple” ! Gordon Ramsey entered my head at this moment and I was about to ask him how a chef at an expensive restaurant couldn’t even season a steak ! .. however he offered me another drink to apologise so I asked for a White Russian, 10 minutes later and nothing so we asked for the bill, the bill arrived with a charge for my missing White Russian!! .. I told them they had charged me for the complimentary drink I had not had ! .. they apologised again and took it off the bill. All in all the food is overpriced and overrated.. basically you are paying for the location.

Very clean, cozy and comfortable room.
Great mattresses.
We traveled with our two 13 years old twins and had asked in advance to have adjacent rooms. The hotel provided us with two rooms that had a small hall between them with a separate key to it, which allowed us to keep the doors of our two rooms open and gave our children some extra confidence.
We had some worries as for the distance to main attractions, but found it as a non-significant issue.
Furthermore, the proximity to the main train station that could lead to a noisy and a bit rundown area wasn't so altogether, on the contrary, the rooms were quiet and the area turned to be a residential area.
On the downside we would mention the breakfast that was quite poor in its ingredients and variety. Having said that I would like to add that for those who love cakes for breakfast there was quite a variety of them, but my family and I are not of the sweet tooth part as for breakfast.

We enjoyed our stay in Rome at this hotel in late October and early November. I would call it a classic Roman hotel. Rooms are small, but comfortable and clean. The breakfast room is in the Garden Room on the top floor with commanding views of Basilicata Majjiore. All the staff was special. I wish I could remember all their names. Susannah was steady as a server and attentive. Front desk staff all were friendly and quickly remembered our names room number for the key. Raman (l know I have the name wrong) at the front desk was helpful to us, as was all the front desk staff. We'd happily stay there again.

Hotel nice room fine nice bed and shower only uk news on tv but out most of time.
Breakfast on roof not very friendly asked for something got a curt no, our friends got asked 3 times to pay at table although they were told it could go on their bill. Our taxi to cruise ship didnt arrive after 40 minutes went to reception bald headed one said it had been there all along but we had switched rooms which we hadnt so didnt tell us also insisted twice to pay city tax which we had just paid him literally 3 mins before. Manager intervened shouted at taxi driver and us again we had switched rooms till lady receptionist told him it was their mistake not even an apology. In the confusion left mobile on counter cost us €200 to get it delivered to port they could have brought it out as my paper work was with it while we loaded taxi.

Hi. I haven't used the Ciampino airport, but acording Google Maps there are busses to go to Termini train station. During my vacations in Rome, I used UBER with success. In your case, would be around 25 minutes by Uber to go to the Mecenate hotel. I hope helped you. Cheers

Hi, from memory the lift goes up to the second to top floor, there’s a short staircase up to the roof terrace. It’s a great hotel and the view in the early evening at sunset is stunning, we will go back.
