We stayed here in February 2012 and enjoy all 4 days. Room at 3rd floor was clean and comfortable. The location was great - it was also close to the Metro station. We enjoyed the breakfast which catered for a wide range of tastes. The breakfast buffet was continental style with various bread and pastries, cold fruit, meat and cheese, and...

My wife and I stayed here for a total of 5 nights. The first 2 nights we had a room on the 1st floor which was not nice. It was loud from the street below and the walls were paper thin!! We could hear the people in the next room talking and watching tv. We left the hotel for an...

Made a last minute booking and were pleased with our choice. Only a 5 minute walk from the Termini and hence the metro station if you chose to use it. The room itself was of a good standard and the bathroom was excellent. Slightly disappointed with the service and attention from the concierge and reception staff. They seemed rather uninterested...

It was hard to decide whether to give an average or poor rating to this property. But really, its problems are not of the hotel, but from the neighborhood. It is basically a stone's throw from the main train station, a notoriously terrible part of town (I was booked as part of a group, so had no choice). But -...

Some of the other reviews have mentioned 'old dated decor' and the location being noisy with the windows open. Fact No 1. Rome is Noisy. If you want to be in the center and sleep with the window open, do not be surprised if you can hear life pulsing under the building. This hotel is 2 minutes from Termini train...

The service was freindly and prompt. We requested two connecting rooms and got it. Breakfast was ok, but the dining room was very crowded.

Unless Italy has a different star rating, this is a 2 star, not 4 star hotel. It is very close to the Termini station. Room decor is worn and dated, mattress is hard as a rock, air conditioning non-existent and with the windows open rather noisy. On the plus side it does include breakfast, and very clean. My email inquiry...

Just returned from a ten day stay at the Hotel Massimo D'Azeglio. We had a great room. Although a little noisy with the windows open, it was very quiet with the shutters closed. The hotel was close to Termini, the Green Line Tours and we could walk to S Maria Maggiore. It was extremely easy to catch the Leonardo Line...

Accommodation here was very good especially if you can get one of the larger rooms that face the courtyard where the street noise is none existent. On a negative note, their front desk seems to be very disorganised and dismissive. If you are wanting to book an airport shuttle with the front desk be doubly sure they have it and...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
