The Amalia is within a five minute walk of St Peters and the nearest metro station. Ideal for seeing all of the sites. 10 minutes on the metro to reach the Spanish steps or the Trevi Fountain area. One change to get to the Colliseum. Don't bother booking a tour for a Papal Audience on Wednesdays. Just go to St...

Just came back from 5 day break in Rome, staying at Amalia Hotel. Very good location - not too noisy, but near to metro (very cheap) so you can get anywhere easily. Room clean and nicely decorated. Staff very helpful. Fairly good breakfast choice with nice pastries, and great espresso coffee! Comfy beds, safe, fridge and hairdryer in room. Nice...

My husband and I stayed at Amalia Hotel during our visit to Rome in mid May. It was an overall good experience. To sum it up for you: -location is excellent. It is close to everything, shopping, sightseeing, and subway. We strolled to Vatican city after dinner. Nice! -- Pricing is decent. We spent about $180/night including breakfast. -- Service...

My spouse and I stayed here from May 25-June4 2007. We had room 506. This is a very nice hotel, with adequate accommodations and although it has some minor issues I would consider this an excellent place to stay in Rome if your main interest is being close to the Vatican. The positivies: The windows are substantially sound proofed, but...

I've traveled to Rome many times, but this visit was a big disappointment because of this hotel. We arrived around 9:30 p.m. on a Saturday and were shocked to see the room we were given. Weeks before, we had requested on Expedia (and confirmed directly with the hotel via email just 7 days earlier) a double room with two beds,...

We stayed here in May 2007, our first visit to Rome. The Amalia is an excellent location for the Vatican City but a bit of a walk or a short taxi or Metro ride to the old city across the river. The rooms were spacious and spotless and the staff very helpful. We stayed in a spacious family room with...

My Mother in Law and I took a trip to Rome last November. We chose this hotel as it was close to the Vatican. We found it close to some shops, restaurants, and the Metro. It was also in a quiet part of town which was nice. The hotel staff was very helpful. My only wish is that there was...

We really enjoyed our stay in the Hotel Amalia. It is in a lovely building and we had a large quiet rooms. The breakfast is absolutely fine and is perfect for those with a sweet tooth. We loved the old fashioned lift. The staff were also very helpful. This is the right place to stay if you want to be...

We stayed three night in this hotel at the begginning of December. The hotel is quite well located to Vatican City area, but needs a walk to Rome's city centre. The area is half residential half commercial but not crowded. The room we had was very nice considering Rome's standards and prices. Room size was ok, not luxurious but neat...

Staying in Prati

Neighbourhood Profile
Prati
Just steps away from the chaos of the centre, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighbouring Borgo, Prati is a local favourite for its aesthetic organisation and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.
