We didn't know what we were getting ourselves into but turned out to be best hotel we've had so far in Europe. The ladies working were very generous and helpful. Centrally located, close to Main metro station, train station and bus station, grocery store 30 meters from the hotel, all kinds of restaurants surrounding the place (both cheap and expensive),...

After a mix at another hostel in Rome we ended up at Planet 29 and it turn out to be blessing in disguise. The room was great with no noise at night, Rome has a lot of street noise but with the windows closed it wasn't a problem. The staff spoke many languages and English extremely well and were able...

Got to the room and it was absolutely freezing we put...

I went to Rome this summer with my friend. When we got to the hotel we needed to take a nap because we were so jet lagged. We got up and found a bug on the bed. At that point we didn't think anything of it, but later at around 23:00, we woke up to find bed bugs!!! We couldn't...

we had a gr8 weekend in rome, the hotel really was'nt anything to rave about, but it was clean and friendly. the location is fab, literally round the corner to the termini, which takes you everywhere. however if you dont mind walking, a good 20 minute walk will take you to most famous sites, colloseum, trevi fountain etc. we mostly...

Had read good reviews, albeit mostly a year or two before our stay. Only two were very negative. Fortunately we only stayed two nights and were out most of the time. As we kept telling each other,'It is ed to sleep in'. The bathroom looked newly refurbished and clean, the wooden floor was filthy and we couldn't walk bare footed...

I would definitely stay here again. It's a decent hotel for the price. We had asked for a room on the same floor as the reception and it was fabulous. The room was large with a huge window overlooking the courtyard, private bathroom and air conditioning. If I was to stay here again, I would request for the same room...

We did not even end up staying in the Planet 29 accommodation but in Della B&B across the road, even though I had booked this back in July with Planet 29. We asked where breakfast was served and was told repetitively that it was downstairs but we were unable to locate it so never got any breakfast during our stay....

We stayed here for one night, and thankfully that's all it was. We booked it last minute so we didn't have a lot of choices, so lesson learned. The location is good - very close to Termini but the place was terrible. First, you have to walk up 4 flights of stairs (if it had been nice this wouldn't have...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
