Hotel Sonya was a delightfully place to stay, the daily breakfast and cappuccino was very nice. The staff was very accommodating and courteous, especially Mr. Hoda, he knew my family size and every day greeted us at breakfast. My son forgot his wallet at the table and Mr. Hoda ran it up six flights of stairs to my room. The...

Nice hotel close to Termini rail way station. We stayed one night coming back from the Amalfi coast and it was convenient to stay as we were on our way to Florence. For a three star hotel was quite nice and loved the old style lift in the building. Air conditioning worked well and breakfast was ample. Hotel staff were...

My friend and I stayed for four nights and were very pleased with the accommodation. Our room was comfortable with a lovely street view, the breakfast a good mix of continental and European and the staff very helpful. The only small detractor was that the older lift broke down for the last couple of days and we were six flights...

This was a lovely small hotel. The staff were lovely and very welcoming. Position was great, right across the road from the Royal Opera House and close enough to the Terminii. The staff at breakfast were so proud and felt really accountable for their service and always tried to make sure that we were happy with our meals.

Booked a triple room which was a bit cramped for 3 people with luggage, but luckily only in the room to sleep. Tea making facilities in room. Location very central - walking distance to all the attractions and Termini Station. Convenient little supermarket across the road. Breakfast was ample - coffee, tea, cappuccino, juice, hard boiled eggs, rolls and bread,...

We stayed here for 3 nights in September and were very pleased with our stay. In an excellent location, 10 minute walk from the Termini and in the middle of all the major attractions in Rome. The room was quite basic but more than adequate. The bathroom was absolutely spotless and the Continental breakfast was nice and plentiful. Great value...

The hotel is a 3 star and our least favourite. We had arrived very late and had emailed but still they gave away our room and we ended up in a dive called Opera Hotel which they called their sister hotel (ugly sister). Next day we got our room back at the Sonya. We had 5 nights booked it felt...

This hotel is on a relatively quiet street across the Opera. very good multilingual service. Excellent breakfast buffet. Very comfortable beds. However, the shower cannot be regulated. It goes from very cold to scolding an a matter of minutes. Eventually, we derided not to play with the faucets, just wait for a few moments when the water temperature is OK....

We stayed here for 3 nights and this turned out to be a good hotel with great location near the termini station. We took train from airport to Termini station and the hotel was about 7 mins walk. The breakfast was pretty good and the cappuccinos were great. The staff serving breakfast were so so nice they made our day...

About 15 mins walk from Rome Train station and 20 mins from the Colesseum this is a great hotel and very reasonably priced at this time of year (Nov.) Lovely period building with marble staircase, quiet location yet central. Rooms are clean, spacious and homely. Every room seems to have an old masters type oil painting in it. Friendly helpful...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
