This was our first night in Rome and we were pleasantly surprised by how nice the hotel was. It looked as if it had been remodeled recently and it was very nicely maintained and very clean. The AC worked great and the street noise was not loud (we were on the 5th floor). It was a great location, very close...

We arrived on June 12, 2011 and found the staff to be friendly and attentive. The room was simple but, overall, clean. We would highly recommend that the hotel update its bedspreads since they were not just dated, but worn out. The shower was incredibly small and was barely useful since you can't move once you step in. The worst...

The location of this hotel is superb! It's very quiet in the area. You'll love the friendliness. *** Watch out if you use an ATM just a few doors away because there will be someone step up to the ATM and start pushing the buttons and another will step up to totally distract you and they will try to get...

We stayed at Hotel Sonya for two nights with our parents. The hotel is centrally located for all the main attractions in Rome. There is covered parking about a half block from the hotel and the staff there is very courteous. The breakfast is very substantial and it will help you get kick started for your day of adventures. I...

Having been to Rome close to twenty times, I picked this hotel because family of mine stayed in a hotel not far from the Hotel Sonya. I book a hotel closer to the centre myself usually. Still, being close to Termini does have its advantages and the neighbourhood is quite nice actually. There is a metro stop not too far...

I stayed here for 4 nights on our first ever trip to Rome with my wife, her sister and our adult niece. First off, the location is excellent as it is 3 blocks from the Stazione Termini which is the ending (and beginning) terminal for trains, subways and buses which made it very convenient for transportation. Be sure to buy...

We stayed here with a group of friends in june 2011. The greatest value in the hotel was the staff- always joyful, friendly and helpful. The house was nice and very clean, cappuccino "smiled" and the elevator reminded us of good old times. We will certainly be back some day!

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
