My wife and I spent 4 nights in the Hotel Sonya and were thoroughly pleased with our stay there. The location was perfect for us, since it is very close to the Roma Termini station (easy walk) and in a safe neighborhood. The room was clean and comfortable and the service was great - they had even arranged an advance...

We arrived too early so we had to store our luggage and come back at 2pm. Not a big deal. The staff was very courteous and helpful. Our room was much bigger than we expected, which makes it nice to stay 4 days and be able to move around. Had spacious closet, and clothes storage. Big king size memory foam...

We stayed three nights at Hotel Sonya and we're glad we did. The location is only a few blocks from the train station (Termini Roma--which incidentally has surprisingly good food and is like a mall) and if you go out the door of the hotel, straight down the street is a McDonalds for those who enjoy that kind of food!)....

Stayed at Sonya Hotel Nov 29 - Dec 2. In beautiful older buidling that is across and down a couple of doors from the Opera House. The lobby is on the ground floor but the hotel rooms are on the 4th floor (push 3 in the great old elevator) of a very quiet apartment building - gorgeous wooden doors to...

We stayed in Hotel Sonya for about 4 days in Jul '10. When we arrived we were told that our room has been booked in their new hotel a few buildings away. The room was incredibly small, with 2 adults and a 6-year old and our luggage, there was not much space to move around. That said, the room was...

VERY very CLEAN, very nice rooms, no so big rooms, but enough for Rome and value of money... Yes, yes, yes we are very very happy with our choice... and especially with the price, and the location.. We take the open air bus, and go around, termini is close... Everything was perfect... The breakfast was perfect... typical but we enjoyed...

In our recent trip through Italy, I booked all my hotels based on what they provide in terms of value. This one's perfect for Rome. Close to train station, within walking distance of everything other than maybe the Vatican, breakfast was pretty good too. We would definately stay here again.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
