We have just returned after a 3 night stay for our 25th wedding anniversary treat which the hotel had no idea of even after an email from our TUI agents.
I did not approve of the Happy Hour at the bar between 5pm and 11pm where
limited drinks were available at 5 euros each which gave you access to a small
selection of buffet food [same or similar ever night).
The streets around the hotel were scruffy which was made worse with the amount of
litter and rubbish left around which seems to get worse day by day.
The staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly with advice, maps and hop on
hop off bus tickets.
The first room offered on the 3rd floor was very small and claustrophobic and the bathroom shutters did not open. The window in the bedroom overlooked the kitchen.
We were moved to the 7th floor which was clean and spacious with views over surrounding roof terraces.
The 'hop on - hop off' bus trip around Rome was well worth the 46 euros for
the day for us both, in fact we went round twice stopping at the Vatican and then Trevi Fountain on the first lap and then stayed on and went round again. Day 3 we walked to the Colosseum and spent time in the area as it was raining the previous day. On day 4 we walked to the Spanish Steps. We had lunch at Pepys bar near Trevi Fountain, well worth a visit for lunch.
We went to Terme Di Diocleziano for our anniversary meal which was recommended by our hotel. The food was amazing, the service was spot on and the ambience was perfect.
We also visited a local restaurant opposite the hotel called Rosy's. The food was excellent and again the service was excellent. The waiter stands outside and waves to potential diners, it worked for us as we ate there three times.
The local McDonald's were very Italian, but change is as good as a rest and coffee in a china cup is a very Italian touch.
We also ate at Gallo Nero and the Washington bar, both worth a visit.
The Hotel is not suitable for disabled as the lift was a little temperamental and every time we used it, the doors started to shut on us which was quite painful.
We would recommend visiting Rome out of season because even in January, the queues for entry into the Colosseum and the Vatican were about two hours.

Booked 2 rooms at this hotel quite late through British Airways as original plans affected by Covid. Got to say we really enjoyed the hotel & Rome itself is beautiful & all we hoped for. The hotel just needs to work on a couple of things hence the 4 stars.
Positives
Original room we got the air con was not working. The lady on reception tried to reset but after not working moved us next door to a better room. She was very nice & said hello every time we entered the hotel after that.
The rooms were fine with all facilities we needed. Good shower, fridge, Sky with English options. Beds comfortable
All but 1 member if the team were great helping with any queries & English was spoken very well. Our Italian was rubbish !!
Location great for getting to anywhere in Rome being near the station. We paid 24 euros for a 7 day pass so when we got back to the station was just a short walk to the hotel.
Negatives
The area is not desirable as per other reviews I read. We faced the front & there was a lot of noise at night. Double glazing fitted is not effective.
Breakfast not consistent. When we booked it was for a hot breakfast. I asked by e-mail if still hot options due to Covid & was told yes. First day we were offer an egg fried, scrambled or boiled. That is what we got on the plate .... an egg You could also get bakery items cheese & salami & other usual items. After that it was ok as we did get enough to fill us up until halfway through the stay.
The waiter that day was not helpful Served me green scrambled egg & the others got stale croissants. We had donuts & danishes previously. We asked for these & were told run out. He was rather rude & abrupt.
I complained that day to reception & they said they would refer to the Manager. After that we miraculously got bacon & sausage & assorted pastries & the service we got was fantastic. Why didn't we get this from the beginning.

Overall though we would recommend staying at the hotel. Rome was very quiet & we visited many sites with no issues. We hope the situation improves for the tourist industry in general but especially for this hotel as the staff there were great & genuine.

We stayed in this hotel a few months back. The hotel decoration is very impressive. The rooms are modern, but cozy. We had the bad luck of getting a room facing the inner patio, so it was a bit dark, but it was otherwise a lovely room.

The breakfast was amazing. They have an amazing varity of things to try, from sweet to salty.

The location was great, not to close to all the main attractions of the city, but close to the citytour bus stop, which was very convenient. It also had some good restaurants nearby, altough we prefered to eat in the restaurant in the centre, as they were a bit more charming

The hotel is situated very close to the central railway station Roma Termini, very comfortable to reach all sightseeing destinations by walking distance. Very friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant is great, tasty food (breakfast and dinner), very nice people, very helpful, hosting the hotel guests like their relatives and creating friendly and caring atmosphere. Highly recommended!!! The room was very clean, comfortable with the memory foam pillows, very comfortable to sleep on.

Great hotel by Termini. We were looking for a nice hotel by the railway station as we were going to use the train to get to our cruise.
The hotel is less than 5 minutes away on a easy walk from the train station. Check in was quick and easy. Room was a nice side, recently remolded in a modern theme. Washroom was large and a little quirky with opaque walls & bright colours. Breakfast was perfect.
Front desk can be busy but very helpful.
15 minute easy walk to the Colosseum if you want.
Inexpensive Italian restaurant across the street, and a Chinese one also that was very busy.
Only issue I had was in trying to book the airport shuttle the day before we came. I tried phoning 3-4 times no one answered. Tried email no reply. Next morning phoned again and was told to late to order.
Reading reviews we were not expecting much for breakfast. However they had a buffet with baked goods, yogurt and fruit. They also serve eggs with meat and toast. It was all very good.
The washrooms in the rooms do have doors, barn style doors. The room also had a safe in it.

Good hotel, and reception staff are great and really helpful.

We had a poor room at first, the tv was not working, the fridge was not working and the bed hard.We explained to reception staff and the next day they moved us in to the executive suite, this room was perfect.

The hotel is clean and tidy. Although you can hear a lot of noise from neighbouring rooms.

Hotel is really close to the airport, for 7 euros you can get to a bus directly there, saving you 50 euros on a taxi.

Also close to the Metro which you again can travel really cheaply too, 3 euros for 100 minutes travel.

visited with my wife and grandson 28th December 2019 to 1st January 2020.
the hotel is in a great place and only few metres from the main railway station in Rome. The breakfast is very good and the hotel is very clean. The only downside is that the walls in the bedroom are very thin because you can hear every noise.

OK not going to banter on about the sights in Rome they speak for themselves and are world class. The only problem is that the crowds can be huge and if you plan to visit these sights then best advice is to do it as part of an organised group, otherwise its easy to miss out and get lost !

Loads of good restaurants very close. The metro is handy for travel, one point to notice is that its best to get tickets at various shops as queuing for ticket machines is a nightmare.

Got to have a whinge about the state of the streets in Rome, they are a complete disgrace in that they seem to never have been cleaned as there are about 1000 cigarette stubs to every 50 metres. Its very distressing to see it in such a great city, it might be the downside of not being allowed to smoke inside most public places. For gods sake whoever is in charge of cleaning in the city, please sort it out.

We chose this hotel for convenience with easy acces to the metro & got a great deal with flights via BA. It was so much better than we expected. We had a large twin room with two almost double beds, a big bathroom with walk in shower, tea & coffee tray, lots of amenities and fluffy towels. We were on the front which was noisy on Sunday night but reasonable the other nights - we are both good sleepers.
Buffet breakfast has plenty of choices in great quantity & the staff wil make cappucino or espresso on request. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants in the area including two opposite the hotel. The whole area was well lit, busy and we never felt unsafe.
Termini (train station) was amazing. The best was the food market we found after walking through the department store. Great produce, cooked food and waiters serving drinks!
Tips - take Leonardo express from the airport €14 and 25mins; Metro tap & go €1.50 anywhere (just hold tight to your bag - plenty of light fingers about), splash out on a guided tour of the Vatican you get a great guide & miss nothing

Not as good as the last time we visited.

Our room 536 was very dark, the shutters were closed all the time and the brick ceilings made it feel like I had been buried in the catacombs. The room made no sense, the fridge didn’t work, I have no idea who thought the colour scheme red and purple was a good idea.
The bathroom again made no sense, as you walked the sink was on my right, the shower in front of you against a wall with a step and a walkway either side, behind the shower up the step is the bidet and toilet. Not the best for someone who is disabled my grandmother fell down the step and tripped up the step everyday.

The other room 510 was slightly better, it had 2 beds, a working safe, a working kettle and although it had the same ceiling and colour scheme you didn’t feel enclosed because the lighting was placed correctly.

I stand by what I say the staff are very nice especially on the afternoon/evening shift, they were more than happy to ring through and book a trip for us and to check the time of our transfer.

The breakfast was a little lacking (sweet or savoury) and everyone coming into the dining room looked a little lost, maybe put a sign saying to take a seat and the waiter/waitress will be with you.

The reception and dining area was very clean, the rooms could have used another dust.

The Ariston is very close to the train station and to hop on hop off transport, and due to the fact they don’t offer dinner there are plenty of very lovely restaurants in walking distance to make up for it.

Maybe we had higher expectations from our first visit but we were left disappointed this time, whether we stay again would be a much harder choice than last time.

Ariston hotel is located a block away from Termini Station. It's the perfect spot if you want to take the metro around Rome or anywhere else in Italy. Also a great location to get taxis of you need one. The bad side is that it's also located in one of the dirtiest areas in Rome. Most of the businesses put out their trash, in bags of course, out on the sidewalk and many folks are out there either asking for money or trying to sell you something. It may not feel safe for some folks specially at night. But now for the actual hotel. The hotel itself was great. We stayed on the seventh floor and out room was great!. We had a queen size bed and there were 2 other beds for my kids. The staff was very helpful and our room was cleaned daily. Breakfast in the morning was good and filling. You don't get an iron or iron board in your room so you actually need to go to the first floor to get access to that. There is a small "gym" (a few machines) on the 7th floor also. All in all it's a good hotel for the value. I booked it through Costco. If you email them with questions they usually answer within a couple of hours.

Follow the signs for ‘train’ after baggage claim. You can buy tickets at the station at booths (language can be changed) or tap in on your phone. The hotel is a 3 minute walk from the termini station

Marco Polo is not an airport at Rome. The international airport for Rome is Fiumicino. The fare with a taxi will bei about Euro 50.- but there is also a train (Leonardo Express) Euro 14.- to the central station of Rome (Stazione Termini). There is another airport "Ciampino" for the charter flights.
