Anselmo is on the hill near the key hole where one can glimpse the Vatican. Nearby are parks and walking is a pleasure. The hotel 4star is lovely but not as good as its sister property Villa San Pio. The rooms a furnished with flair but smaller and unusually larger bathrooms. As always the hotel staff are efficient and helpful.

Stayed there for a short business trip in Rome this week. The place is just perfect for me. Not too far from the city center, very quiet, with all you need close by. Rooms are large and comfortable, with some "style", breakfast is perfect and staff is very helpful. I really appreciated the place and will very lukely come back....

We had an enjoyable experience here. The service was impeccable. The room was comfortable and we'll appointed. A short brisk walk to the Colosseum. The breakfast was phenomenal. Worth staying just for breakfast. Some of the best coffee we had in all of Italy.

I have waxed rhapsodic about the San Anselmo after each of my three previous visits here, so about the elegance of its appointments and the serenity of its setting I would only refer the reader to those earlier reflections. My one new observation is based on coming here in the deadest of tourist seasons: mid-January. (Yes, you might not know...

Stayed at this beautiful hotel for 5 nights from Christmas Eve in a deluxe room. We arrived using Rome Limousines for a private transfer at a cost of 49 Euros, which was a relaxing way to start our holiday. The hotel was very clean and tastefully decorated and furnished throughout and when returning to the hotel on an evening it...

Location: The area in which Anselmo is located is a nice oasis of stillness! It's not in the absolute center of Rome, but a 15 min walk will get you to the Colosseum, and from there: go with the flow to visit some of the magnificent architecture Rome has to offer. Or head to the other side of the river...

Staying in Aventine

Neighbourhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighbourhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
