The Hotel Santa Maria is an Hotel de Charme located in a 16th century cloister completely renovated in the year 2000 maintaining the flavour of the original construction. It makes a very pleasant base in a romantic and relaxing ambience. Our guests can easily walk from the Hotel to the historical and archaeological beauties of the city. It is also possible to drive to the hotel with the parking available at the private Garage next to the Hotel. The Hotel rooms, connected by a monastic portico, face onto an ample and silent garden of orange-trees, flowers and Mediterranean plants, or onto our rooftop garden, framed by evergreen vines... perfect settings to enjoy your breakfast in the warm and sunny roman days , or just for relaxing after a day of sightseeing The Hotel has a number of bicycles should you wish to cycle through the alleys of ancient Rome. The Hotel is Internet connected by secured Wireless Lan. You can comfortably use your PC where you like: at the lounge Bar, in the garden or in your room. If you are travelling without your PC, a computer with free Internet connection is at your disposal in the Living Room. You can relax in the romantic atmosphere of our bar or our garden with a glass of excellent wine, chosen from the selection of refined Italian wines stocked in our Cellar (from Vermentino di Gallura to Brunello di Montalcino), before you venture out into the narrow streets of Trastevere in search of a good trattoria or restaurant. After site-seeing in the ' Eternal City ' , our rooftop garden, framed by evergreen vines, with lounge chairs facing the sun, awaits you for relaxation in an ambience of refined comfort. This hotel is an amazing, beautiful hidden gem in Roma - quarter Trastevere. All of the staff is very kind, helpful, speaks perfectly English. Any request we had - before and whilst we were there - is immediately dealt with and to our fully satisfaction. Once you enter the gate it is a transquility serenity place after the crowd outside. The location is perfect. Close to Ponto Siste (bridge over the Tiber) so you are directly to all Roman highlights. Go for dinner to La Scala: perfect and not expensive. (in and outside nice)

Hotel's Favourite
Just...wow. The hotel from reservation to past checkout was great. We were "picking up our daughter from school" (studying abroad and her apartment was in the amazing Trastevere neighborhood). This gem of a hotel was a quiet oasis in a busy neighborhood. We were able to reach the staff through WhatsApp. They gave us a great room (bathroom complete with bidet) upstairs with a patio outside. Got an email with an offer for a private pickup from the airport for the same price as a taxi, which was great. The driver was waiting for us just outside customs. Such a nice touch after a long flight from California.... The hotel is behind a private gate. Once inside there is a wonderful little courtyard with fruit trees and tables where we had a nice cocktail from the little bar and breakfast room onsite. In the evening they offer some light bites and inventive cocktail offerings. In the morning an amazing spread of breakfast items...all fresh and locally sourced and the barista made us daily cappuccinos with art from our discussions...(San Diego skyline one day and our last day a broken heart because we were leaving!). The staff always welcomed us with a smile and on the last day, kept all of our bags (and our daughter's stuff as well!) at the site so we could tour around before catching our plane, and then we got a private ride back to the airport as well. Did I mention they have friendly hotel pets as well? Very friendly dog and cat on site if you are missing yours from home...

Beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Trastevere. Comfortable attractive layout. Comfy bed. Nice private courtyard surrounded by orange trees. It’s an oasis inside a busy Trastevere . They offer a lovely happy hour every afternoon from 5:30 to 7:30pm. Yummy breakfast served every morning, where you can dine inside or outside on the patio. The staff was thoughtful, efficient, friendly and helpful. A special thank you to Norman for his designer and delicious cappuccinos every morning! He made our stay very welcome! We will stay here again when we return to Rome!

A beautiful and peaceful hotel in the heart of Trastevere. Staff were friendly and attentive to all our needs. As we were arriving by car they arranged for us to book one of the two car parking spaces inside the hotel, which was a huge bonus. Breakfast was excellent and the Happy Hour buffet of various antipasti is a wonderful added touch. We will definitely return when we come back to Rome.

This was the most excellent hotel! Every single person that works here is concerned with whatever you need or want. Very friendly, very safe, very welcoming, very warm. No matter where I’m visiting in Rome, I will want to stay here. The courtyard where you have breakfast and happy hour daily is lovely, the room is exactly as described, and was very comfortable…the staff is beyond accommodating. It is nestled in the neighborhood of Trastevere and it is a quiet little oasis that is just perfect.

We so loved our stay at Hotel Santa Maria!!! A most inviting, quaint, and serene environment tucked away in the heart of Trastevere!! We were greeted by Armando who welcomed us with enthusiasm and consistently went out of his way to help us with restaurant reservations, gelato recommendations and sites to see that were not the more common sites. The amenities were above expectations: a warm environment to wait in when we arrived including being served coffee specialties and pastries while we waited; an amazing breakfast with hot and cold items to eat and specialty coffees; staff consistently pleasant; several quart yards to enjoy breakfast or happy hour in or just a quiet place for reading. The staff managed our transfers to and from the cruise port and to the airport. Staff were consistently upbeat, friendly and most accommodating. They made us smile and truly contributed to the AMAZING experience we had with them and during our stay in Rome. We will be back!

Without doubt this is the hotel stay I have most enjoyed while travelling. The staff could not be any more welcoming and friendly, the location is ideal and the authentic feel and atmosphere of the hotel is superb. Breakfast was delicious and fun and the bar in the evening was most welcoming with excellent service. If I could make one suggestion it would be to supply an outdoor heater on the cooler evenings. We would have loved to have sat on a little longer but found it too chilly outside ( smokers curse). I would love to return to Rome in the future, so much more to see and do, and I know where i'll be staying!!

Hotel Santa Maria is a wonderful little hotel in the middle of Trastevere. We felt at home! The patio, the caring and professional staff as well as the special touches all over made our stay very comfortable. We loved staying in Trastevere! The delicious baked goods and fresh juices as well as the opportunity to sit in the patio under the orange trees was a perfect way to begin the day.

AMAZING This hotel was just what we needed. We stayed four nights and loved it. All of the staff were wonderfully friendly and keen to assist. The two men in the breakfast room are outstanding as were the young reception assistants. Happily gave restaurant recommendations and offered transportation options. The bed was comfortable and big and shower had great pressure (although it was over a bath). Trastevere is a vibrant neighbourhood but once you go through the secure gate you are in an oasis with a beautiful patio area with fruit trees and a seating area. They also have a lolly basket.

I can't say enough good things about Hotel Santa Maria. In forty years of business and leisure travel, I've spent thousands of nights in hotels in numerous countries and I can't think of one that is more comfortable and welcoming than Hotel Santa Maria. The hotel is a peaceful oasis within the fun chaos of Trastevere. My family and I spent four nights there in early March when it was cool and rainy, but I can imagine the secluded courtyard is cool and refreshing in the hot Roman summers. The staff were all friendly and charming. The young men who hosted breakfast and happy hour always greeted us warmly and were very attentive. The food provided at breakfast and happy hour was delicious and far superior to what we have had at other hotels in Italy. The location is great for a Roman vacation. Trastevere is full of history, great restaurants and plenty of night life. It's a short, easy walk to the Pantheon, the Colosseum, Spanish Steps, Vatican, etc. We felt completely safe at all times. We will return to Rome and we will definitely stay at Hotel Santa Maria when we do.
