The River Palace Hotel garners appreciation for its central location, with guests frequently citing easy access to attractions and transport. The hotel's staff receives accolades for their attentive and friendly service, adding personal touches to guest experiences. While the hotel exudes a charming and stylish atmosphere, some guests have mentioned the rooms being on the smaller side.
Opinions on value are mixed, with some travelers finding the pricing fair despite additional charges. Cleanliness is generally praised, but amenities receive mixed reviews due to space constraints in rooms and issues with shower design.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed here for our first trip to Rome and we weren’t disappointed. The location was great and within walking distance to most attractions if you like to walk (we do as we feel it’s great to experience a city better) but there is a metro stop just at the end of the road if you prefer. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and very helpful with regards to visiting attractions and restaurant advice. Breakfast was included and there was a fantastic selection - a huge choice! The bar was great with a well stocked choice of cocktails, beers, wines etc and the happy hour (5-7) was great value. It was certainly popular. Our room was spotlessly clean and beds made, bathrooms cleaned daily with a turn down service and weather prediction too. The bed was very comfortable too.
The only reasons we didn’t give it a give star review were the fact it doesn’t have a restaurant on site ( which is sometimes useful if you have had a very tiring day sightseeing and need to eat without going on another walk to find food) although there are really good pasta/pizza restaurants 10/15 mins away. Also the room we were initially allocated was really small with no coffee/tea facilities so we decided to upgrade for an extra 20 euros a night for a slightly bigger room with said facilities. It did have a bit of a ‘water noise’ ( toilet flushing maybe) which seemed to come from room above ?? which did wake me up a couple of times - but wasn’t really a problem! Overall thoroughly recommend this hotel for its decor, ambience, cleanliness and friendliness.

We stayed 2 nights in hotel River Palace. The location is ideal , in the centre of Rome, You can visit everything by feet or you can take the metro who is 300 m from the hotel. You pay 7€ for the whole day, on the metro,
All the people who works in the hotel are super friendly. You can ask them what you want
The breakfast is also super, there is even Prosecco if you want.
There is a nice bar, and from 17 h until 20 h there is happy hour, all the drinks at 1/2 price, there is aperitief, that means you get little snacks with your drinks, 6 or 7 different things.
When I come to Rome I will never take another hotel again. I was there twice, and at the end of the year I l go back to that hotel.
It is located next to piazza populo, and next to villa Borghese
Thank at all the personnel ,to make our trip super.

The front of the River Palace is deceptive. There is no long driveway only a tram running down the middle of the street and a couple manicured trees in pots by the front door. Not an auspicious start after a 20 hour flight and a 30 minute drive from the airport. But, once you step inside, the decor is “Old World Gorgeous”. Patterned marble floors, gleaming dark wood cabinetry., pan ceilings with beautiful lighting fixtures, a step back in time to an era that was more formal than it is now. The entire hotel is clean and well maintained. Check-in was smooth and efficient. The hotel staff did their best to be sure our stay was pleasant.
The decor in our room also had pan ceilings and gorgeous light fixtures. Wainscotting was 1/2 up the walls. Our room was comfortable with a bidet and heated towel warmers (love towel warmer). Shades of fresh air, the windows opened out to the street. The only negative is our room overlooked the street and the tram that ran from 5:00 am until Midnight. Closing the windows did minimize the sounds and they became part of the background noise. A free buffet breakfast with wonderful coffee and a free happy hour are provided.
River Palace Hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of several Plaza's..

Had a wonderful 3 night break at River Palace Hotel booked through jet 2 city breaks. The hotel is in an excellent location and we found we could walk to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and even closer the Piazza del Popolo.
The hotel room was clean and comfortable, we were on the 4th floor, there are lifts.Breakfast was a mixture of continental cold choices and cooked (scrambled eggs, bacon) so something for everyone. Tea and coffee facilities in the room.
The happy hour between 5-8pm was very welcome after a day of sight seeing, providing half price cocktails and finger foods.
The staff were all very friendly and very willing to provide us with any assistance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay again and recommend to others.

Just in bed for our final night at this lovely hotel. very central : you won’t need to get taxis. Every staff member has been fantastic/ accommodating and extremely helpful. Decor is absolutely beautiful, smells amazing throughout / rooms excellent size / well stocked mini bar/ lots of little touches : dressing gowns /slippers / little daily note with chocolates delivered to advise of the daily temperature plus it was my birthday and they sent a personal note to me with a complimentary bottle of wine which was delicious. So thoughtful I was really touched. When we arrived they pressed our clothes within 30 minutes which is unheard of in my experience
Breakfast very tasty, had plenty of choice to cater for all wants.
We have had such a lovely stay , nothing was too much for all the lovely ,wonderful ,fantastico staff.
Highly recommended
Thank you for making our stay magical.

Just returned from a great 4 night stay at the River Palace Hotel. The hotel is in the perfect location to explore all of the main attractions by foot or via public transport. Couldn't fault the staff who were all very friendly and helpful. Happy to give directions and to assist with travel arrangements and advice. The hotel is very smart and the rooms are beautifully decorated with all of the modern amenities that you would expect. We asked for a quiet room and were given a room on the second floor accessible via 2 flights of stairs (not a problem for us, other rooms are more accessible and there is a lift if that is a requirement). The breakfast was plentiful and there was a good choice of hot and cold options. We enjoyed the eggs and bacon and the pastries and cakes. We enjoyed the Aperol Spritz and Bellini cocktails at the bar particularly during happy hour (5 to 7pm while we were there). There are plenty of nice restaurants within a short walk, the hotel doesn't offer evening meals although they do put out a range of snacks on the bar and we enjoyed those with our cocktails. Would certainly stay at this hotel again and recommend it to others. Chocolates and a weather forecast for the following day were a nice touch, Grazie!

The rooms are extremely small! The shower is literally a joke and thought is was made for children! The hot water, if there was any only lasted for a few minutes. The paint on the walls is chipping away, and the carpet a mustard yellow the looks like it should have been changed out years ago! The walls are not sound proof, I could literally hear a couple having a conversation while waiting for elevator, which is another funny part about this hotel... you take a small elevator to get to a smaller elevator to go up to your room. As far as the staff the one bright side was Gianluca (bellhop) who was always smiling and very courteous and Lorenzo (bartender) who makes appetizers for free at happy hour! Mihaela has a fake smile and didn’t seems to care about the tourists, and actually denied me to eat my outside food in the rest/bar area and told me that I can eat at the restaurant or in the room... Also, I don’t think this is a non smoking hotel either, I have asthma and could clearly smell cigarette smoke coming from the corridor and when I asked the hotel to do something about it they just shrugged their shoulders. Would I stay at this hotel again, absolutely Not, until the hotel does some upgrading from the decor to their twin size beds that definitely have seen better days!

+ The hotel is nicely located within walking distance to shops and attractions. The reception staffs are friendly. Nice buffet breakfast.
- The bedroom was tiny, old, musty and dark. The carpet was dirty and looks like need replacing. The worst part was the tiniest shower room i’ve ever seen in hotel in my life. The shower cubicle measured approximately 60cm X60 and you can’t even bend down to shave your legs in that cubicle. I know if you pay more to you’ll get bigger room/bathroom etc however i have never seen such a tiny bathroom. Instead of putting a bidet in such a tiny bathroom they should have got rid of it and put in a bigger shower cubicle . The outside of the hotel is not pleasant, there are lots of graffiti around and looks really run down.

We booked the River Palace Hotel a year in advance for a special occasion. The hotel is in a great location within walking distance of everything we wanted to see. When we arrived we were offered the chance to upgrade to a better room for 20 euros per night but we declined because our budget wouldn’t stretch that far. The room we were then given was in the corner next to the lift and was so small we could only just move around the bed and had to move a chair to open the wardrobe. There wasn’t enough room in the tiny wardrobe for all our clothes so we had to leave clothes in the case, which was squeezed into a space at the end of the bed. We were then constantly lifting the case onto the bed to get clothes out. The bathroom was also tiny and uncomfortable. Our room was obviously the smallest room on the floor from the plan on the back of the door, and we had the impression the hotel thought we would go straight back down and accept the upgrade that had been offered. The hotel was very quiet (mid January, low season) so there was no need to give us such a tiny room. The other rooms around us appeared to be empty for most of the time we were there. The room really was uncomfortable for two people and when it was cleaned only one towel was ever replaced, and in the evening turn down service one side of the bed was turned down and one chocolate left. These things left us feeling that even the person servicing the room thought it was for single occupancy. The ‘classic’ room we were in did not have tea/coffee making facilities (all the other rooms do) and it seemed a bit mean to me, especially since they had squeezed in a fridge/mini bar in order to generate extra money. On the plus side the bar area in the hotel was nice and the happy hour is a great idea and well attended. The breakfast is also good. We don’t usually worry about the size of hotel rooms but on this occasion we really did feel let down and it was depressing every time we returned and opened the door. Hotel guests should never have to feel like that. Based on our experience I would not recommend this hotel.

Booked this hotel after reading both the reivews and looking at the website..location is great very close to the gates at the Piazza del popolo. All the main tourist sites are walkable, so that is ideal, the staff were very helpful and friendly greatcadvice about visuting the vatican meant we were there for the pope giving his sunday blessing ( not that we are religious).
We had a lovely bottle of wine for my hubbys bithday and a lovely note, nice touches like turning sheets down and putting note with next days weather and turning sheets down and closing curtains..
There was food at the bar ( no tea needed)..I upgraded to what I thought was a delyxe room after reading reports about the classic room being small ( I have claustrophobia and am menopausal) but I am certain we were given a superior room despite requesting a deluxe room..they assured us we had a deluxe room but pictures dont lie..we did get a 6ft bed ( heaven) lovely luxurious bedding, great size bathroom with 2 sinks and great shower over the bath, robes and slippers ( although i had to ask for robes!). The reception staff offer to show me other rokms to compare but I was already showered and changed and to ve fair we only slept in the room as we were out trudging the streets of Rome every day !!! #shattered. The breakfast was ok, more continental with meats etc, small cooked selection, and also juices, cereals, bread, cakes and prosecco! ..
Just be very careful of your room booking and make sure you get the right room..our room shows a picture which on the website says its a superior room, but on the website its listed as a superior room

Hi, rooms are very nice. Smart, Quite spacious and well equipped and have nice bathrooms. However, rooms do not come as standard with tea and coffee making facilities. If you ask for them, they’ll supply it for free.
Hello, the breakfast is served from H 7.00 am to H 10 am. Best regards :)
