A Relaxing Vacation in Rome, but Commute To and From the City Center Must be Calculated:

Hotel Mercure Corso Trieste provides an affordable and comforting escape in busy Rome, although it does require a bit of commute to reach the happening parts of the city. Embrace this opportunity – travel by bus or metro and familiarize yourself with the city, its rhythm, and charm.

The hotel room was comfortable and cozy, and the reception area and surroundings were soothing. The hotel is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, ensuring peaceful nights – although the property could use some refurbishing, namely the corridors.

While the hotel sits far from the city-center, its location offers access to both metro and bus transportation, with the metro station approximately a 7-minute walk away.

Staff were generally helpful, although a little more smile and personal touch to their service would've made all the difference.

Housekeeping could have been better - in fact, it was our greatest grievance during the stay. Surfaces were dusty and our bathroom wasn't properly cleaned. After checking in, we had to call reception to request the cleaning staff to remove urine stains on the toilet seat from a previous guest. However, the hotel did provide compensation with a complimentary drink at the bar, which we appreciated.

Regarding the pizza at the hotel, we tried two different types. Our verdict? They were average. Nothing out of the ordinary, but not awful either.

We recommend Hotel Mercure Corso Trieste for travelers interested in a serene stay in Rome, hoping that housekeeping issues will be addressed.

I trust the Accor brand and Trip Advisor reviews and this hotel absolutely exceeded my expectations. Staff were friendly, helpful and responsive. The room was air-conditioned!!! Both the room and bathroom were large. The bath towels were bath sheets and the soap was Nuxe, my favorite European brand and one I always buy when I travel to France. The neighborhood was residential and we felt very safe. The metro and bus were right down the street making it easy to get to Rome attractions and to the train station. Hotel staff were able to help us schedule a town car to the airport and explain what we should expect to pay. We are planning our next trip to Rome already and definitely will return to this hotel for our next stay.

I stayed in this hotel (4 stars) situated in Roma-Trieste quarter for 5 days, i.e. 4 nights as an alternative to my former hotel (3 stars) which has changed to the negative during the last 3 years. Altogether it can be said that it is not bad, but it has still a high potential of improving. The room (classic double used as a single) are partly renovated, however, not the sockets. There was no socket near the bed, and the sockets at the opposite wall were too far away from the water kettle and the Nespresso coffee machine. Thus I could use them only the first day as the reception staff removed them from the minibar and placed them on the little table. However, the next day the maid rearranged them on the minibar, she did not even look at the too short electric cables.
The bathroom was not very well kept. The dust bin contained some little waste from the previous guest, the shower partition urgently needed a cleaning of the sealing.
The breakfast was plenty and should have left no wish open. However, the coffee was hopeless, it was the worst coffee I ever had in Italy.

The last day I had to spend some time in the lobby as my plane left only in the evening. The strong smell of ham and eggs from the open kitchen in the early afternoon was very disagreable, they apparently did not have or did not use an effective extractor fan.

The staff was in general very nice and polite. The receptionist was strangely dressed in a private leisure dress (grey pullover and slacks) which is not representative for a 4 star hotel in Italy and which I have never seen in the hotels I visited in Italy. The worst was this dreadfull music the whole day, its loudness and its choice. In German we would call it "Schnulzen". This is also quite unusual for a 4 star hotels with partly business people as their guests.
As to the decoration: I did not like the wall paper with the big trees at the head end of the bed, I had hoped to get a room with the former decoration, but well, apparently they are no longer available.
The hotel is situated in a quite residential area in Rome and was quite. This is is a very big plus for Rome and I am glad that the reception staff gave me the requested very quite room. Thank you again.

The hotel does not respect the status of a guest at All Accor.
upon arrival at the hotel, a hotel employee said we were too early, instructed us on where to check in and said, and he is quoted as saying "see you at two o'clock". Saying this, he didn't even check the system to see if a room was available.
Obviously, we did not receive an upgrade to a room category. There was even no mineral water in the room, and on my inquiry about the lack of it, we were informed that we could ask for mineral water at the reception. The only thing I got as a platinum guest was a welcom drink voucher
The breakfasts were mediocre and served at the bar as the breakfast room was under renovation.
I must point out that there was a very limited selection of cosmetics in the bathroom and there were problems with regular replacement of cleaning products.
Of course, I am aware that most of the perks for the platinum guest depend on their availability, but the treatment we received upon arrival was amazing and the room we were allocated was not the best available, as we had already used the services of this hotel before.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at the Mercure Roma Corso Trieste. I am sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations; please allow me to express my sincerest apologies. At Mercure, we strive to provide a superior service experience for every customer; therefore your feedback is very important to us. You reserved a triple room. We do have just a few triple room in the Hotel and that day, when you arrived, they were still all busy. Our check out is at 12pm. So telling you to came back before 2pm was a risk that you couldn't find the room ready and we don't want that. So that's why we told you to came back at 2pm. An upgrade was not possible for the fact that the Hotel was full in that period. I'm sorry for the breakfast, but our breakfast room was under renovation and having a breakfast in a smaller place there was missing the hot part. But also for this, the rate for the breakfast was much lower than usual. We appreciate your sharing your concerns, and it is our hope that you will give us the opportunity to better serve you in the near future. Sincerely, Boris Nanut Front Office Manager

The Positive Points:
The hotel is in a quiet location and only 4 stops from the mainTermini Station by metro. The walk from the metro station to the hotel is around 5 to10 minutes. The hotel itself is in a quiet side street with very little traffic or noise. The twin room we had was immaculately clean and
well maintained as well as being spacious. The cleaner did an excellent job of servicing the
room for the 4 days we were there. There was a spacious and attractive outdoor patio area
with plenty of shade where you could sit and eat or have a drink. The breakfast area was well
laid out.

The Negatives:
A nice selection of cold cuts, breads and breakfast staples. However the HOT offering
(bacon/eggs/ vegetables) was tepid. This applied when we ate at 7.20 am and at 9am and at
8am.
The bar service was disorganised. This was specially true in the evenings when staff seemed
to be trying to take orders from tables outside as well as in the lounge area and bar itself
without much focus or organization. Although the bar area itself only had 3 people at it it took
20 minutes to actually get served!!! A similar incident happened in the early afternoon when the barman was on the phone for around ten minutes while we tried to order and pay for our drinks. Clearly there is a problem with the bat service and attitude of the staff serving.

The staff were so welcoming and nice, especially the off-hours woman running the reception at night. Clean, traditional room, with efficient air-con and spacious bath. Breakfast in the ground floor bar was perhaps not worth the extra price, in light of cheaper local options around the corner. Fabulous neighborhood to explore!

Cannot say enough good things about this Hotel.
It's modern and immaculately clean.
The bed and pillows were so comfortable. I don't normally sleep very well but had 3 good nights sleep out of 3. Helped by not hearing any noise , be it other guests, from the street or traffic.
We had a Superior room so not sure if this applies to all rooms but we thought the free mini bar that included sparkling and still water, a can of coke and a iced tea , all free was a great touch. We only used the still water but was replaced each day , which given the heat whilst we were there was amazing.
The safe was free, again nice 'extra'.
All staff were helpful and friendly.
We went for a drink after checking in. 2 Fanta were 6 euros so we thought that was reasonable. We were also given a dish of complimentary Crisps with our drinks that was another lovely touch.
First night we had a meal. The pizza was lovely. I'm a fussy eater so there wasn't a lot of choice for me but that is my issue and by no means a reflection of the hotel.
Breakfast was fab. So much choice. Little tip, the butter and milk are in the fridge under the bar. Never sussed that first morning.
The hotel is near a Metro Station. Turn left out of hotel, sharp left again, go to the bottom of the road. It's 7 euro for an all day ticket for 24 hours.
To conclude , this is a bold statement, but I'd say this is the best hotel we have ever stayed. The outside area is lovely and we enjoyed a few drinks outside on an evening after sightseeing all day and found it so chilled and relaxing. Thank you to all the staff for a terrific stay.

We had a wonderful stay here, lucky enough to have booked room 601, with a beautiful large terrace with a jacuzzi and sun loungers. The bedroom was also a fantastic size, though it could do with a few extra pillows, but that’s personal preference.

The breakfast had a great variety and the bar was also well stocked. All the staff that we met were knowledgeable and friendly.

The metro (line B) is close by, use Sant’ Agnese/ Annibaliano, around a 5-10 minute walk, and only a few stops from Roma Termini.

A truly lovely stay. I would certainly recommend the Deluxe rooms if you can.

We stayed three nights at the Mercure Roma Corso Trieste hotel in Rome, Italy, and our experience was very positive.

First of all, our flight to Rome landed at the airport in the morning. Check-in time at the hotel was 2 pm, but the staff was gracious and allowed us into our room earlier, and we were able to take a nap and compensate somewhat for the jet lag. We were very grateful for the kindness of the staff during the whole time we were there.

Our room was clean and quiet, and we slept very well.

We enjoyed breakfast there as well as supper, and the food was amazing. The breakfast had many options to choose from, and every item I tried was very tasty. I was pleased with the varied selections of milk. I am allergic to dairy, and was glad I could have oat milk with my muesli. They had soy milk, rice milk, and other options as well. I don't see all those options in the hotels I stay at in the U.S. Usually, I am lucky to find any milk alternative.

The hotel is not located near the typical tourist sites in Rome; it is in more of a neighborhood setting. You will need transportation to go to downtown Rome. But I went to a grocery store not far away from the hotel, and there are a number of good restaurants within walking distance.

It was a very positive experience staying at the Mercure Roma Corso Trieste, and I would recommend it to others travelling in Rome.

Never in my life have I been treated like this at a hotel.

I made my booking via hotels.com, I selected one adult and one child, aged 17 (from.the drop down menu).

When I checked in, the manager told me I should have selected my son as an adult, as 17 year olds aren't children (even though you could select his age).
They have now told me I need to pay more, and for some bizarre reason, breakfast isn't included.

The manager, a lady named Antonia spent possibly a whole.hour with me at the point of check in, telling me that there is a fault between the hotels.com and mercure, and that I need to pay extra, and claim it from Hotels.com, as I am the one who has made the mistake.

Even though I showed her a screenshot of my booking which clearly indicates that I have done nothing wrong. What then followed was an absolute charade where she tried to make another booking to prove I'd done something wrong, which surprise surprise she wasn't able to demonstrate, as clearly I had done nothing wrong.

The last thing you want after a long day of traveling is to begin your trip on such a bad foot. I've had poor experiences with mercure before and I foolishly thought this would be better. Never again. Every other hotel would say they recognise that the fault lies between them and their travel agency, and not with the individual who is staying in the hotel. Yet Antonia spoke to me as if I was a common criminal.

Dear Customer, we are sorry for your experience, generally on direct systems we do not have such problems as the age policies (childrenadults) are well specified. the intent of those who were present in the facility was certainly to explain what happened, there must surely have been misunderstandings on both sides, and for this I am deeply sorry. Our staff really has a strong understanding and helpfulness, and they always strive to offer a quality service, for young and old. The intention of my colleague was not to make her out to be a criminal but to explain the problem that had arisen. We hope that in the future she will be able to return to stay at our establishment and fully experience our sense of hospitality, without penalising her entire experience due to problems that are not directly attributable to the hotel. I can assure you that we will take all necessary measures to ensure that similar issues do not occur in the future. best regards
