it's my 3rd time stay in this hotel. great location, reasonable price and unbeatable concierge service. all concierges (franco, claudio and michael) are kind and efficient, esp franco, who's always smiling and most helpful, makes you feel like home. all of them speak eng too. however, they're not superman and cannot serve everyone at the same time both at reception...

The problems start when you enter the hotel, the key is a great big clunky thing... the lift is an old fashioned cage unit which broke down for a day, the rooms are small and dark, the ensuite was tiny, the toilet was wedged up agaist a mid hieght radiator which dug into your legs so you couldnt sit on...

We were looking for a good value hotel that was within walking distance of the Termini and bus station which this was. With wheeled luggage it took about 10 mins to walk from the Termini. We had a standard triple room and it was very nice with full sized beds and a nice shower room. The very old elaborate lift...

While the Montecarlo suited our needs and everything about it was adequate, I would not give it the glowing reviews posted by others. The hotel decor is dated and the rooms are dark. The elevator often would not work during our stay, usually because someone left its gate open on any of the floors, which caused it not to work....

It's 5 minutes from Termini station, we found it very easily. It was clean and comfortable, not a 5 star but perfectly OK for our long weekend stay. I recommend it to everyone! We loved the little caffee opposite the hotel (little further up), it is very cheap and very italian!

There was nothing bad about this hotel...it was all great. The position was good, close enough to Termini to walk easily but far enough away at the same time. Easy to walk to the Trevi Fountain & Spanish Steps, and to start/finish the hop-on hop-off bus at Termini. Breakfast was fine..always a busy time for staff though. Rooms were clean...

Standard room was in fact a single bed room with extra bed added, room was super tiny, could even open the door fully !!, When i complained at the reception, they promised better room next day ( what if i did not complain ???? ) That room...

We stayed in this hotel for 6 nights and we were mostly impressed by the hotel especially given its reasonable room rates. Yes the rooms are small. Yes having a shower was like getting wet in an upright coffin and the breakfast was non-variable and bland. The single lift was old, slow and out of order on occasion, so we...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
