We stayed at the Beehive this past Thursday and Friday and really enjoyed our visit. This is a very inexpensive option near Termini, so it was perfect for the last two days of our trip after returning from 4 days in Sorrento via train. On the front end of the trip we stayed near Campo d'Fiori in Rome for 2...

After travelling around Europe for three weeks it was fantastic to stumble upon this wonderful little hostel tucked away by the train station. I had chosen it because of it's proximity to the station and it's subway but it has so much more to offer than just location. Not only is it clean, friendly and welcoming but the staff are...

The Beehive was a great place to stay as a solo female traveller for work. Initially I had been at a loss for where to stay as the conference I was attending had no assigned hotel. I was delighted by my experience; even though I was in a dorm, it was by far the best dorm room I have even...

My boyfriend and I stayed in Rome both at the beginning and end of our October/November Italy vacation, staying at both the Millefiori apartment and the Beehive itself, and each location was extremely convenient for Termini station. The front desk staff was so polite and helpful, setting up our taxi appointment and answering all questions quickly. The Millefiori was a...

We had a special time in Rome. We stayed for 1 night in The Beehive, a very small particular hostel with more luxuary than in a normal hostel. We were happy that we meet young students, meeting other people from all over the world is important to us for having a nice holiday. The staff was very friendly.

The Beehive is a wonderful place! I'm not sure why it's listed under "specialty" lodging. It's a very small, economy hotel with the friendly and helpful service of a high priced concierge. I felt like I was "home" whenever we returned from a busy day of sightseeing. Everything was always very clean and well maintained. Style is simple, modern, with...

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Beehive and found the staff very caring and helpful. As we are vegetarians we were pleased to find that the breakfast cafe was able to meet our dietary needs and at a very reasonable price. Their snacks and drinks are priced reasonably as well. The internet service was excellent in our room. Also...

We welcomed 2011 in Rome and decided to stay in the Beehive as it was highly recommended by Lonely Planet. The 5 of us in the family had a wonderful stay and we all agree that we would stay at the Beehive again if we were to visit Rome in the future. It's location is perfect - just 2 blocks...

Thank you 1412 for the kind words. We're glad you enjoyed your stay with us and want to clarify a few issues you mentioned that might concern future guests. Although we have 1 dormitory room, we are not a hostel and don't want to offer a typical hostel experience. For people who want to have a hostel experience at the...

My wife and I have stayed in two of the Beehives private apartments (Acacia and Clover). Both were very clean, the rooms were huge, and had everything we needed. Our Clover apartment had a little balcony over the courtyard which was great in the mornings. The beds and the bathrooms are Italian standard. All the apartments are close to termini...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Beehive is a cool, stylish, eco-friendly budget hostel/hotel owned by an American couple, Linda & Steve, who came to Rome to follow a dream. In 1999 we packed up our apartment in Los Angeles and, along with our 2 cats moved to Rome and opened The Beehive, a unique cross between a budget hotel and an upscale hostel - a place where you can feel at home. Everything about The Beehive reflects our own personal values and we genuinely want to be helpful and hospitable. We love to share the kind of information that helps you get the most out of your travels. Over the years The Beehive has evolved along with us and our many repeat guests. With our amazing onsite staff and manager, all of our guests receive our dedication and effort to helping you get the best out of your holiday.
