The hotel is in a very good location in terms of being literally 4 mins walk from the main train and bus station and walking distance from many of Rome's landmarks, monuments and main squares. Of course you can get a bus from there to go to all main attractions but with most being a mere 25 mins walk and with so many churches and little squares to be seen on the way it is worth just walking everywhere.
With regard to the hotel itself I was initially put off by the fact that you enter the building and receprion is on the 3rd floor. The hotel is located on the 3rd and 6th floor which is odd.
However we had a very warm welcome at the reception desk and the receptionist was very kind and helpful letting us leave our bags there, as we were early for check in, and giving us good tips on transport, attractions and restaurants.
When we checked in later on in the day we had rooms on the 6th floor which is newly refurbished. Rooms are very clean, very pleasant and modern so we were very happy with that.

The low point of the hotel is the breakfast room. It is very crammed and dated and on day 2 could not accommodate all guests so some were eating standing until they could get a chair.
The actual breakfast was okay.

I would recommend it for a short stay to families with kids as there are no areas for kids to play or hang around.
The hotel is probably more suitable for adults who are not planning to spend much time in the hotel and just need a clean and comfortable room in the centre..

The hotel room and facilities are fine, we were sold the hotel with breakfast included but were asked to pay a week of breakfast charges before leaving. I wouldn’t mind but I’m diabetic and couldn’t eat anything because everything is sweet, one morning I actually brought my own breakfast. Staff are genuinely polite and friendly, cleaning was a good standard everyday so I didn’t want to be arguing about a breakfast. The hotel was located near some great restaurants too.

Pleasant Hotel, at a great location, the staff are friendly and helpful with their guidance, able to leave bags for storage, very useful. Good size room clean and tidy, could of have some teabags or coffee to accompany the kettle, breakfast is nice but would like a little more variety, the only other moan is would have preferred the 3rd floor as opposed the 6th, being a little older the stairs to floor 6 can be gruelling after a day trekking around Rome, was slightly concerned about the antiquated lift, though having said that, it did work well and was a lovely feature.

I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in February 2022.

The location is perfect, right in the centre of Rome, only 5 minutes from the main train station, Roma Termini. This is the best place to stay , when in Rome , Italy, as it is just so close to everything.

The staff are so kind, friendly and helpful, as well as very professional, polite and courteous at all times. The rooms so spotlessly clean , modern with good facilities and service.

Very affordable rates, and worth your money

I highly recommend anyone travelling to Italy to book here

Thanks so much, i would book again without hesitation

Fantastic location - surrounded by good value restaurants and close to the main bus/train/metro stations.
I cannot believe the reviews of some people on here - what do they expect for the price? Of course it is not luxury but the room was a clean and safe (security cameras) base with friendly and helpful staff. Decent continental breakfast although as a Brit, I would have liked some toast to be available. Fridge, safe and TV in room (no English channels though).
The biggest negative was the lack of wifi in the rooms although it was available in reception/breakfast room a short walk away. The hotel should really upgrade their wifi connections.

We had a very bad experience with this Hotel and of course we and our friends want to share with you the experience.

1. The rooms were not prepared for "check in" in afternoon 14:00 without any information in advance. This is not only a comunication issues, they don't care about you.

2. We needed heating (in our group we had children and old people) , the Hotel's response was "Is not possible because there is no heating till 1th of November".
"Dear Marco Polo Hotel, I don't care if we are in the summer - July, if I ask for heating I'm expected to receive because I'll pay for this".

3. Poor breakfast which was served in the rooms because the renovations were not finished. (as in the first mention, we were forced to wait all the day because the renovation was not finished).

4. Fake photo with the Hotel, of course the Marco Polo Hotel is not in the corner(please see the attached photo), please ask before because you will have the same bad experience like us.

Of course we did not meet the Hotel Manager, why? 🤔 because they refused the comunication.

So, now I can have the next point.

5. Bad comunication with the clients, if you have a need the staf will say "we need to talk with the Manager" ...of course you will never see the Manager.

I'll never recomand this Hotel, unfortunately I was disappointed!

I'd like to inform everybody this is one of the several bad reviews made by the same person- It is made by the managers of Tamicris Tours (Romania). They sold all the services they booked at double for their poor group. Obviously the people are not silly and asked a compensation. Because they do not want to pay they got the brilliant idea to blackmail us by tripadvisor. They want a discount or we will receive bad reviews from them. This bad trick do not works with us.

Good points
SOME staff were helpful
Rooms were cleaned daily
Comfy bed
Close to train

Bad points
Hotel is more like a hostel, it is definitely not a 3 star.
Rooms are average if you just want to lay your head
Reception is on the 3rd floor, superior rooms are on the 6th floor. You can upgrade to this upon check in.
6 flights of stairs
Lift is very old fashioned, looks like it’s from the 1930s. Can only fit two people in at a push with a suitcase. No good for wheelchairs.
Hotel doesn’t specify if you have mobility problems, this hotel is extremely unsuitable if you do.
If the lift door isn’t closed properly on any floor, You can’t call the lift as it won’t work. Then you will have to walk the 6 flights of stairs.
Very noisy at times when people are just closing the bedroom doors.
We had groups of youngers on our floor who were running up and down the corridors into the early hours, we had to go to tell them many times. Hotel staff weren’t helpful with this.
Breakfast is continental and in a very small room by reception. We didn’t try the breakfast and it wasn’t very personal.
Hotel entrance is uninviteing and wide open to anyone to walk into.
Hotel was like a building site, the whole 4th floor is being wiped out and drilling noise was loud and also the smell of cigarette smoke coming through the floors from them.
If you want more of a nicer place to stay and have a nice reception to relax etc this isn’t the place!!!

Do not try it!
There was no heating in the hotel.
Breakafst poor and served in the room.
Rooms were not ready at check in time.
The elevator is horror.
Renovations at check in time.
They were not open to cooperate. I needed a triple room to change in a double room, because one of the lady was positive to Covid and they did not want to change. I want to mention that I was there with a gorup and I 'm sure they could change, bu they did not wanted.

We had the bad luck to cooperate once with them. Rough agency. They have failed to manage and inform properly their customers and then they pass the blame on to the hotel, citing non-existent faults. Problems could be avoided with better communication and management. Diego • Marco Polo Hotel Team

I purchased a trip to Rome via Wowcher and was provided with the hotel booking at ‘Marco Polo Hotel’ for 2 nights & 3 days Nov’22.

And what a lovely hotel it is. It’s literally a 5 minute walk from the Train station which couldn’t be any better!

The staff were lovely, welcoming and very warm towards guests. Super helpful with recommendations and providing us with a map circled with all the main tourist attractions.

Our flight arrived early in the morning which meant check out wasn’t for hours however we was able to leave our bags to explore.

On return we was given our room 605 which is spacious but still had that cosy feel. The facilities were great and a nice comfy bed!

Do not be put off by the reviews you may see, super pleased with everything this hotel had offered!!.

Thanks again Marco Polo Hotel and the staff 🥰 ♥️

My sister booked this hotel for our family vacation. After reading the negative reviews I was a little worried since it was not refundable. But I really loved the manager Diego answers 😂 my kids were so looking forward to meet the famous Diego .But unfortunately during our stay he was in vacation. The staff was amazing ,our room was clean every day and always fresh towels. Sometimes people love to complain and ruin other people business. This is not a 5 star hotel ,it’s great for the price and if you treat people with respect you will get respect back. The location and the restaurants around are a great bonus. I would highly recommend Marco Polo !
Hopefully will have to meet Diego in person next time! Thank you Marco Polo staff you were all so amazing and the nicest kindest people Ciao

Once through the front door there are several steps, 5 or 6, up to a landing. There is flights of stairs up to the floors above or there is the lift. Two of us plus a medium suitcase had to squeeze to get in the lift and to crush up for the folding door to close. The hotel is very pleasant and all on one level once you are on that floor but unless you can walk a bit and have someone else to fold up and manoeuvre the wheelchair you won't cope in the Marco Polo.
