This hotel is really nice, staff are very friendly and helpful. Room was very nice and clean.
Continental breakfast only, if you want eggs and bacon then that is extra. It’s not really central to all the attractions but there are good buses that are close by and for a few euros will get you to the city centre in about 20 minutes.
From the airport it takes about 30-40 minutes to the hotel.

Pretty as a picture. Set in a quite residential area is this user friendly hotel. Lots of street appeal and that theme is throughout the premises. Friendly, helpful staff. Well appointed modern room. Good breakfast. Only problem is that it is far from the major attractions of Rome. No Metro station. It is at the end of an irregular bus service. However, it is close to the Olympic Stadium if you want to watch Latzio playing football.

Good hotel. Room is clean but old classic style. Old building but everything works well. Morning breakfast is good and high quality coffee service is very nice. You need to use taxis if you want to go rome center but not so far. Nearby supermarket is so good, and there're so many local restaurants.

Hotel was convenient for us to attend the tennis Italian Open at Fort Italia. It was close enough to walk but neighborhood was very dirty and unkept, full of young adults at night at local bars, however, never felt unsafe walking around. We had two rooms- one was excellent very spacious and nicely furnished. The other room was in the basement with a terrible smell, ugly view and very tiny. The breakfast was average, nothing special! The customer service was fair. When returning to the states and receiving my credit card statement, it was apparent that I was billed twice for the same charge. I contacted River Chateau and they insisted they did not, therefore, my bank is pursuing the refund. I would not stay here again or recommend it.

Response from River Chateau, Altro at River Chateau Hotel
Responded May 26, 2023
Dear guest, many thanks for sharing your experience but from your words it seems nothing went really bad so.....why don't come back? The area where the hotel is located is a typical "movida" area full of restaurants and bars haunted from the romans, not touristic. The Stadio Olimpico and the Foro Italico are easily reachable by walk following the river Tevere. We'll share with the city administration your comments about the bad conditions of the neighborhood. Regarding the room I want to remember the possibility to upgrade the room category in order to satisfy your expectations for both the rooms. I want to confirm that we double checked and there are no double charges, our accounting department is at your complete disposal. Best regards.

Lovely hotel, Assisted continental breakfast included. Cooked breakfast extra charge. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room great, Only criticisms were that there was no tea or coffee in the room and the bar closed early. Would definitely go back.

this is a wonderful property. Brand new, in fact we were the first people to sleep there (May 12th). It's not in the city center, but just above the Villa Borghese at the river. In a great neighborhood. But the best - the SERVICE. Incredible. And the rooms are elegant and the bathrooms are marble with beautiful fixtures. Our room had a huge terrace overlooking 2 beautiful villas on a hill. Just great. The best bargain i've every had. The rates are very low whilst they try to build a clientele...better get in fast!

The River Chateau Hotel was a wonderful place to stay in Rome. We stayed in a room for 98 Euro a night. The room itself was beautiful. We had a computer/television as well. Even the bathroom was beautiful, with a mosaic above the bathtub. Everything was spotless. The people working at the desk were always helpful and accomodating. The breakfast was the best we had in any of our hotels, with a large variety of foods.
The only concern we had with the hotel was the location. The hotel is located in a nice area of Rome. However, it is a bit of a distance from the main sights of Rome. There is a bus which is about a block away from the hotel which takes you into the heart of Rome. However, you will need to take a Taxi or bus back to the hotel, it is not someplace you can walk to from the main sights (Vatican city, Spanish Steps, Colleseum, etc). I would also recommend printing a map of where the hotel is and bring the phone number when you first arrive in Rome. The hotel is off many of the Rome maps we had. We took taxies two times to the hotel, and neither taxi driver knew where it was. One called the hotel on his cell phone, the other driver used the map I had printed off the internet from the hotel website.
We would recommend it, just know that it is not in the heart of the sites. However, for the price we paid and the service we got, we felt it was worth it.

Went for my husbands birthday. The hotel was fabulous, we stayed in the double room for for 3 nights at 125 euros per night. Bargain. Everywhere was marble. The breakfast had a good choice available and included in the price. The staff were very friendly, showed us how to get around. You can travel in Rome for 75 minutes for 1 euro!
The hotel booked a car to collect us from the airport and to take us back again for 110 euros. Brilliant.
The only downsize was that it is out of the city centre, but it was in a lovely area and very quiet - no sleep was lost!
At the bottom of the road there are a few restaurants and this is where the Italians eat - always a good recommendation! We found a briliant and very cheap restaurant (can't remember it's name!) It was very busy, but they always found us a table. They could barely speak English, but we got by. 20 euros for a 2 course meal, cappachinos and a litre of wine for 2 people!
We will definteley be going back to the hotel and the restaurant - can't wait.

My daughter and I spent four days in October in this beautiful hotel.
We had a pretty standard room with twin super confortable separated beds (not just put togheter). The room was very cozy and had a balcony with a very nice view.
We had free Internet in the room through the LCD TV.
Even the ceiling was decorated. It´s very silent at night, despite the music and noise in the hotel´s restaurant.
The bathroom was great, with a mosaic decoration and everything first class there.
Check in and check out were very quick and the staff very friendly. We remember Alejandro and Rogelio (we had a problem with the keyboard and he got another one for us in a second).
The hall has somewhat of mixed styles in decoration but that´s irrelevant.
The buffet breakfast, included in the price, was very good, and the staff there very nice and efficient. Just the bread wasn´t very good.
The only (but important) problem was the location. The neighborhood is fine but the hotel is far from every touristic places in Rome. Since we left the hotel each morning, got the bus and arrived to the center loosed almost one hour.
On Sunday didn´t pass nor buses nor taxis and only after almost 2 hours we could arrive to Piazza Navona.
If you plan a trip to Roma, try to avoid Sundays!
Everynight we took a taxi to return, always remarking that the hotel is near Ponte Milvio. Once we forgot to tell it to the taxi driver and he got lost.
If you want a good pizzeria, go to La Scalinata, Via Sant´Andrea delle Fratte, 32, near the Fontana di Trevi. The place is very nicely decorated, with high quality cuisine. Alessandro and the other waiter are great (the best in Italy)! By the way, it´s closed on Sundays!
If I return to Rome and decide to rent a car, it´s for sure I´ll go to River Chateau again.

Not in the tourist area. It a a lively residential area with cafes and restaurants but away from the sites you would visit as tourist. 30 min walk to "the center". You have a tram that takes you there though.
