Stayed for prior start to tour. Reception staff friendly and attentive. Breakfast pretty good but rooms were musty, furniture tired. Moved from a single to double but both were shabby, one had chair seat with large hole, most light fittings not working. Bed was hard, pillow the same and smelly. No comfort whatsoever. Single room shower was primitive, water tepid...

We stayed here as the starting point of a tour. The accommodation was clean but basic. The bed was quite hard but okay. Could be improved with new pillows, provision of extra pillows [we only had one each and both were very flat] and proper towels [the ones we had were like oversized tea towels]. Close to train station so...

We stayed here prior to starting a tour and also for the first night of our tour. The first night we had about 30 school children on the floor above us who were incredibly noisy we complained the next morning and were told "this was not possible as the rooms were sound proof" also had issues with the noise of...

We stayed at the Hotel Stella during our 3 day visit to Rome. The room we had was one of the upgraded ones and was very comfortable. The hotel is located close to the train and bus stations. There are a number of good local restaurants in the area.

Unable to sleep the bed was Horrendous, the bed was like sleeping on a wooden floor, I wanted to get out of bed and sleep on the floor because it may have been more comfortable. Noisy, would not recommend.

Very charming hotel. You get everything you need. One of the cleanest hotels we have ever stayed in. We've stayed at some higher end hotels in the US that were not even close to the cleanliness here. I would recommend bringing your own pillow though. If I came back to Rome I would stay here. Close to lots of transit...

We stayed one night in this hotel as the starting point to a group tour - but the previous night had paid a lot less for a significantly nicer place. Very thin towels, in a tiny bathroom, room overlooked the street & was incredibly noisy, and overall the hotel was just a little tired & dated. Buffet Breakfast served on...

Loud bar on ground floor; base pounds thru the building until 5 AM! Complained to staff and moved room! The next night they were closed and no issue; our last night it was back ; complained to staff who claimed they would speak with them; this did not happen , or the request was ignored. Do not stay here if...

I stayed here with 32 children and 3 other teachers in late March. The hotel were very accommodating; everything was ready for us when we arrived and check-in was easy as a result. The rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable. The breakfast room is rather on the small size but we fitted in (just). There is a balcony...

It is almost 8 months since I visited this hotel, so it could have changed. However it is still my favorite budget hotel (not only in Rome). Location is exellent. Short way from the cental station (with busses and metro). Several good restaurants just outside the door, that is affordable and with italian food. Very nice after a long day...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
