If you seek a peaceful oasis in Rome just off the beaten tourist track then we would recommend this hotel. Bad bits 1. We were given a smoking room, despite requesting non smoking (didnt realise this till we returned on the first day tired and weary from sightseeing - no we didnt complain, typical brits). Bad bits 2. Dont use...

We loved our stay at Villa San Pio, an incredible slice of pampered tranquility in busy Rome! This is a wonderful hotel for those desiring peace and quiet at the end of the day. The option of an excellent garden dining venue enhances the facilities. Although a bit remotely located, it serves travelers well. We stayed in late August while...

I stayed here for two nights with my husband after a weeks cruise and would definately stay again. I picked this hotel purely because of the rating on tripadvisor and was not disappointed. A lovely american/italian woman who we asked for directions at the Circo Massimo station told us we would probably not find the hotel but she knew where...

We loved the Villa San Pio so much we came back to stay there on the second half of our trip to Italy. The staff was very helpful. The rooms were beautiful and very spacious. Our bathroom even had a tub with a jacuzzi! It was within walking distance to the Colosseum. It was a bit farther from the spanish...

The Hotel Villa San Pio is a beautiful hotel in a quiet residential area located about 15 minutes walk from the Coliseum. It has a lovely garden and breakfast in the conservatory is a great start to the day. The hotel is very quiet and provides everything you need as you will not spend any time in your room when...

The Hotel Villa San Pio is a beautiful hotel located about 15 minutes walk from the Coliseum. It is in a tranquil, garden-like setting away from the busy streets filled with tourists. It is a class act all the way from their beautiful garden setting where breakfast is served to its decor and spotlessly clean rooms. Even the maids are...

Stayed there for two nights in the early September. The hotel is located in a quiet, very nice residential area. It's not very close to all the major sites but definitely walking distance to some (perhaps a 15-20 minute walk). The staff was definitely helpful. The breakfast buffet was quite good. The rooms, however, are in need of an upgrade....

Great location - only five minutes walk from the Metro and then just one stop ride to Colleseum area. Very peaceful, garden-like setting. Staff polite and helpful. Good breakfast in delightful setting. Only drawback was that we had to complain twice to get the non-functioning air-conditioner to work. When it was first looked at we were told (incorrectly) it must...

We loved the Villa San Pio. Our room was large and very clean, and we had a large bathroom with both shower and bath. The staff was GREAT and booked all of our tours. The only down side was having to walk back up Aventine Hill everyday after sight seeing.

From Sicily we went off to ancient Rome and got there pretty late. We had had some mix up with our booking by the booking site, but we had been assured that everything was fine and we should come on over. Getting there at about 1 a.m we got the keys to our room and the site that awaited was...

Staying in Aventine

Neighbourhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighbourhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
