Location is good but in the night doesn't feel safe to walk around,be prepared to hear all the other guests and their activities, bed and pillows are awful and very dusty...really regretted it,once maybe it was a four star hotel but not any more.

This is one of the hotels in Rome my wife and I keep returning to when we are passing through Rome for just a day or two. The location on top of the Gianicolo hill gives us a quiet but authentic neighborhood near but not in lively Trastevere where we love to dine. We find the staff very helpful, amenities...

Pros - the hotel was in a great location and took us about 35 minutes to walk to the Vatican. The reception and breakfast staff were really helpful and the hotel lobby, garden and pool were really nice. Rooms were very clean. Cons - the pool staff were not very attentive and in the end we got our own drinks...

Dear Sam, thank you very much for reviewing our hotel. We are glad you have enjoyed your stay, we work hard to satisfy our guests. We are sorry if our staff at the pool hasn't been fast in bringing your drinks and the bill, sometimes when the hotel is fully booked, there may be a delay in the service. For...

The views from this hotel are fantastic - overlooking Rome from the rooftoop. The garden is also nice. The rooms are ok and so is the service, although the staff downstairs are not the most attentive. Will stat there again for the location and the views.

Dear guest, thank you for reviewing our Hotel. The view from our building is great indeed, maybe one of the best panoramas of the city you can get, and being able to enjoy it while having a freshly baked breakfast is a luxory. As for the staff, is usually ready and professional. It happens sometimes, though, when the hotel is...

Beautiful hotel with nice pool but didn't get to use it as weather and time we had stopped us. Location not really good for access to trastevere as lots of steps maybe 30-40 minutes walk.good if you like walking as we covered between 10-14 miles each of 3 days. Nice little locals bar 50 yards away.

Dear tomturbo, thank you for reviewing our hotel. Grand Hotel Gianicolo is located on top of Gianicolo Hill, that is in Trastevere district, one of the most characteristic district of Rome. You can find a lot of nice cafès and restaurants around the area, that are not as turistic as the ones you may find in the centre, and you...

We arrived late at night (taking the number 75 bus from Rome Termini) which drops you a 5-10 min walk from the hotel. The hotel interior is very dated, the room was fairly small but does have a fridge and aircon. We chose this hotel for its location but the main reason was because it has a large pool, which...

Grand Hotel Gianicolo is situated in an old monastery, we, and most of our guests, believe that it still has the romantic atmosphere of an ancient building, and we don't feel like its fashion is dated, but we do understand and respect other people's opinion. We are sorry if you found our staff unfriendly, we always suggest our guests, though,...

In Rome for a Conference, but my first visit - so also had a quick glimpse of some sights. The hotel was just lovely, food excellent, room comfortable and a gorgeous outdoor pool. The staff were excellent. The hotel had an intimate traditional feel to it, and would definitely stay again. Breakfast on fourth floor terrace - lovely views.

First holiday with the girlfriend and I thought where better than Rome. Booked with BA for a great price and the pool was what hooked me. I think that and the staff are the strengths of the hotel. Thank you, Jack, for reviewing our Hotel. Lovely hotel with brilliant staff. Room was a decent size, beds a little firm for me but I still slept well. The pool area was lovely and great to come back to after a day out. Breakfast was good with lovely views over the city. Would stay again most definately.

As you enter through the impressive gates the gardens are immaculate and a wonderful place to sit outside in the evening. The pool was at a blissful temperature, where we drank Aperol Spritz. Staying in Monteverde

Neighbourhood Profile
Above the city on the Janiculum hill, Monteverde is Rome’s popular "getaway" neighbourhood, coveted for its greenery. Rome's largest urban park, Villa Pamphili, is the area's centrepiece with affordable prices and peace and quiet. Monteverde is just far enough away from the centre to feel like you’re on a Roman holiday and close enough to feel the lure of Rome's chaos. Though its downside is the lack of scheduled public transport, this family-oriented area is literally a well-deserved walk in the park.
