Visited with my Mum and 7 year old son. Was a little worried about the reviews but i know people like to moan. First off the location is fab! A few minutes walk from the train station - great access to the airports. less than 10 mins walk to the colosseum which looks fab a night. Also a minute walk...

The fact that the hotel was low-budget was definitely reflected in the room we were staying in. The bedding was a little bit horrible, and the room itself did not seem the most clean. The man on the desk was not very approachable. At least there was wifi which worked. If you are more interested in the actual city than...

Hotel Oriente is perfect if you are travelling to Rome on a budget. It is within walking distance from Rome's historical sites. The room was clean, the staff were helpful and nice. One thing though- the breakfast was terrible.. So plan on eating breakfast at one of the many nice Trattorias downstairs :)

The personel was angry and yelled at us all the time, the manager came in to the rooms without warning. Besides that the breakfast was some of the worst i have ever tasted. It was dry and full of sugar. The rooms were bad as well, and my bed tilted to the right.

I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND IT, it's a very good choice. The hotel is near train station, not the best neighborhood, but close to bus stations and metro. Area with many fast food, supermarket and close to bus station for the airports, very convenient if you have too early or late flights and we didn't felt any fear during those late hours....

Hotel oriente's Breakfast is terrible. The Wifi non existence and I literally scraped my arm on the sheets they r that hard not good value for money. If the hotel spent a bit of money they would easily be able to make some much needed improvements

The place looks a bit shabby, but the service is outstanding. The staff is very willing to help you. The rooms are small and standardised. The bathroom is very, very small. I couldn't turn around in the shower. Furthermore, the rooms and hallway are noisy. Unfortunately, the breakfast is poor really. Good experience by the good location and friendly staff.

Excellent location for all the top sites. All in walking distance except Vatican. Super friendly staff and quaint hotel in general. Perfect for a city trip even with kids but not too many. Rooms are small especially the bathroom but clean. Great little place to stay!

Don't stay here. Absolutely appalled at how we were treated during our stay. Forcing your guests to sleep outside in the early hours of the morning after a hospital visit is not my idea of a satisfactory hotel. For your own good, just go somewhere else. Terrible food, terrible service.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
