Hotel well located near the train station and tourist attractions (for us Rome can be visited on foot with lots of things to see). The room is clean with a slightly outdated decoration (a matter of taste). Provision of a safe, mini-bar, coffee/tea and kettle, shower gel and tissues (very good). The bedding is correct, 2 90cm beds assembled. View of a building and the heat pump groups.
Continental breakfast in the form of a copious and good buffet, you can find everything from savory to sweet pastries, cakes, fruit, etc…
All the staff are smiling, friendly, professional, they generally speak English, some receptionists also speak French.
A big thank you to Edmond (reception) for his kindness, his patience and his professionalism, he helped me obtain tickets for a visit to the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, no more tickets available on the internet before my departure, as well as for advice on restaurants, favorite tourist places, etc.

Info/advice (hope it will be useful to you)
For people sensitive (like me) to noise, do not take No. 122, (noise of groups, heat pumps.) just behind the window;
Airport/Termini station (around 32 mins) by Leonardo express train €14/person per trip, take the ticket at the ATM (all languages) allow around 10 mins on foot to get it from terminal 1 (well signposted).
If possible buy tickets in advance for the tourist places you want to visit (lots of people).
Example of approximate walking distance from the hotel for some tourist places Termini station 650m, Terme di Diocleziano 550m, Trevi Fountain 2kms, Pantheon 2.5kms, Piazza Novano 3kms, Piazza Stagna, Villas Medici and Borghese 2kms, Colosseum and the Palatine Hill 3kms, St Peter's Basilica and the Vatican City 4, 5kms etc…
Every Sunday at noon sharp, Papal Blessing (we can see it in the window).

Hotel with very good services,
Impeccably if you are near the bus and metro lines in the city center and near the train station.
At reception always a friendly word and a smile.
The bathroom linen is renewed every day hygiene products are also restocked.
Excellent quality king size bedding!
Very large choice for breakfast, both sweet and savory, from a very good manufacturer! 3-star superior hotel that even deserves a 4.

Welcome and Employees: Okay welcome and took only 5 minutes to check in. They gave us a good recommendation for dinner within walking distance.

Room and Facilities: Location was good, only 15 minutes from the train station and many restaurants. The room was good sized, clean and surprisingly quiet since it was on the main street. The climate system worked well.

Breakfast – typical for European hotels, included scrambled eggs and a good choice of sweets, breads, meat, cheese. Breakfast room was not overly cozy and unwanted person wondered in and took a long look at the buffet. An employee escorted him out.

Summary and Recommendation: We had a problem on checkout due to the “new” credit card system. The employee had trouble cancelling out the 100 Euro credit card deposit required upon check it, which caused a stressful 20-minute delay. Too bad as the rest of the stay was very good. The system is archaic and old fashioned. Also, be aware that Rome is charging 6 Euros per person per day tourist tax!

I booked a single room, first room had interior window so no fresh air, changed to noisiest room I have ever stayed in . I contacted Agoda , whom I booked with and did not get a reply, so had topay an extra 90 euros to get a quiet room. As this was my 75 th birthday present to myself for surviving illness I was very disappointed. hotel is in convenient position, and staff were professional, just be careful about choosing back quietroom, and never use Agods

The room had bedbugs; we woke up with a "textbook" picture of multiple bites, which were very disturbing and took days to heal. Neither the hotel nor Agoda (through which the booking was made) provided a satisfactory response and compensation. A disgrace.

Response from Giuseppe Rossi, General Manager at Hotel Camelia
Responded Feb 20, 2024
Dear guest, We are sorry to read your review but we have never got reports of bedbugs from any other customer. We already informed you in person that those bites were not from bedbugs and showed you pictures of what bedbug bites look like. We also suggested to go to a doctor to get a medical report, which you did not do. Your stayed during the summer and could have been bitten by any insect while going around in Rome. Best regards

Room was ok as rooms go, bathroom quite small but again ok. Shower soap dispenser would not dispense soap, so had to dismantle and remove from wall to use during showers. No kettle and tea / coffee facilities in room.
Worst part though was the breakfast. Hotel was part of Bellarome trip for italy v England rugby. Advertised as buffet breakfast, but breakfast consisted of 1 croissant, a coffee or tea and fruit juice, absolute crap!

Responded Jan 31, 2023
Dear guest, We are sorry to read your review at it is quite misleading. It is very important to say that you stayed during Covid 19 restrictions. A buffet breakfast was forbidden and your agency was well informed about it. We offer kettles to all of our guests upon request. Like in all hotels, something might go wrong. Your dispencer was fixed the next day as soon as you informed us about the issue. Best regards, Management

We value our nine-day stay at the Camelia hotel very positively. The hotel is close to Termini station where you can take trains, metro and buses, it is also good to go to the Repubblica metro stop. The reception staff is very friendly and whenever we needed they helped us. Additionally, two of the receptionists spoke Spanish which always makes communication easier. We liked the room. Cleanliness was very good.

I stayed for three nights at the Hotel Camelia as a solo traveller. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and gave me wonderful tips for transit to sight seeing locations. While close to Termini station, the hotel's location is a bit out of the way and can feel a bit frayed around the edges. That turned out to be a blessing as it was wonderful to leave the crowds of Rome to an area that was calm and normal. An added bonus was the street market in the mornings! Even though travelling on my own, I felt perfectly safe at the hotel and the surrounding area. I thought that Hotel Camelia gave me great value for money and will certainly stay there again when I next visit Rome.
