We've recently returned from a short break in this fabulous B&B in Rome. Our visit didn't start too auspiciously because the building was covered with scaffolding and as we were early there was no one to meet us. This was soon resolved by the owner Lorenza who kindly upgraded us for this first night. (She couldn't do anything about the...

We have wanted to visit Rome for years to see all the amazing ancient historic and religious sights all of which exceeded our expectations ! What we did not anticipate is that we would actually begin to feel like we were "living" there - the reasons for that were the proximity to the river, local churches, the cabs, and buses,...

Lorenza's B&B is just so great. We absolutely loved it from the first second (could be because they managed to have a room perfume that is so nice). Our room (we stayed in a quadruple) was clean, full of charme and had a bathroom with everything you need for a pleasent stay. The breakfast is served in a nice little...

The Arco del Lauro is small, friendly and relaxed. It's in a perfect location - with the delights of the Trastevere district to hand, and the centro storico just across the river. It's lovely to walk home across the Tiber to the B and B in the evening after a hard day's sightseeing and find yourself in this little quarter...

My wife and I (with our 15-year old daughter) stayed at Arco del Lauro in October 2008. We are not real demanding guests and mostly manage our own affairs. Nonetheless we found that Lorenza and Daniella to be very warm and helpful and added a personal touch to our visit. The rooms, particularly the bathrooms, are small but quiet, clean,...

The B&B is so wonderful. Daniela and Lorenza were both a HUGE help. They were always able to help with bus information, dinner suggestions/reservations and museum reservations!!! The rooms were very spacious and clean. You have your own bathroom in you room and they were clean and a decent size. The location is absolutly perfect!!! We walked everywhere except to...

We spent three days at Arco del Lauro in the quadruple room which had two single beds and a queen size bed. The accomodation was excellent - spacious, clean with new furniture. The bath was also very good. Breakfast was served at a cafe near the B&B and included a croissant of our choice and coffee/juice. They also had yogurt...

We booked our first few nights in Rome in this lovely b&b during August and loved it! There were 7 of us (all adults) occupying 2 doubles and 1 triple. It is very conveniently located in a quiet locale, surrounded by terrific eateries and just 15 minutes walk to the old centre (take the #8 tram to save you some...

We booked this B&B because we were on a very tight schedule in Rome (less than 24 hours - crazy I know!) but wanted to fit in some sightseeing and we were arriving in the evening. Reviews of other accommodation disclosed all sorts of problems with people not being able to find hotels, hotels being over-booked etc so booked this...

I am not one for writing reviews, but having been many times to Rome, and having always ended up in a not so cheap scummy hotel, I had to write in and recommend this one. The place was clean, the staff friendly (they even spoke English!) nice rooms, very well located and best of all very reasonably priced - we...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
