You mostly get what you pay for - and this is the case with Funny Palace. Old, not very comfortable beds and thin walls inside the room makes it somewhat hard to sleep - but I guess you cannot expect more for around 20 Euros in an expensive city like Rome. It is a decent place if you are travelling...

My friends and I were in Florence and decided to head to Rome for the weekend. We needed some place that was decent and conveniently located. It was then when we stumbled upon Funny Palace. Though its name may sound well, funny, it was a great place to stay and it was more than we could ask for! In addition...

The hostel is right next to Termini/main train station, which means you can easily take Metro [underground] anywhere in Rome and it's only two stops from Colosseum.. The bus company Terravision takes you there right from the airport for 4 Euro, and from the station you can just walk directly to the hostel. It is pretty easy to find. We...

The hostel is really closed to Termini station, so well connected to the centre and to every interesting place in Rome. People working here are really nice and super helpful and we had also a private bathroom without over charge. The cherry on the top is the reception, which is located inside the laundry...which is also an internet point and...

We stayed at this property. Before going few reviews on this hostel scared us. But we are very happy with the location (max. 5 mins from Roma Termini), value for money and hospitality of the staff. On registration the staff explain the important places to see in Rome based on the duration of stay of each guest. Tips on transport...

A hostel located in different departments of buildings. The beds are bad, very old. Bathrooms are insufficient. No common areas. It is located in a degraded and dirty area, it is not pleasant to walk but well connected. The best ticket you get for breakfast.

Good price and just two minutes away from main station Termini, walking distance to many touristic atractions. Mabri gave us a map and drew routings for each day of our stay which saved us a lot of time. Complimentary bottle of wine was also a very nice gesture. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. The only minus was a bathroom...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
