My boyfriend and I stayed at the Saint John for 4 nights when visiting Rome. We arrived late at night and was welcomed by such a nice man in the reception, giving us maps and telling us how to get around. Everyone we met working at the hotel spoke very good english and were so nice. Some of the reviews...

The room condition was not so 'fancy' as it seemed on the photos, maintenance needed to walls etc., the toilet was broken and after flushing the water kept running, the personel was not so helpful, I had to call 2 times to the reception and ask for someone to come and check, the guy told me he fixed it without...

Firstly fantastic location- only minutes to everything, longest walk Vatican City about 40 mins but well worth walking as you see so much more. A number of reviews say how small rooms are but ours (523) more than adequate for 2 although a little hot - not sure about air con in the end turned everything off and then perfect.....

My husband and I have just returned from four night stay at the hotel which was a good choice for a city break. Hotel was clean, room had everything needed for a short break, but the best, was how kind and helpful the staff were, especially the female receptionist who looked after us very well

the room was clean and the service was wonderful and the breakfast was great! the room space was a little small for us but maybe because they added two twin beds for my two children which was wonderful of them so I am not complaining !

I stayed at this hotel for 3 days, the room was lovely, very modern, staff were fantastic very friendly and helpful, the breakfast had a wide range bit of hot food, fruit, pastries, cereals. The location is fab and there is an underground train about 3 mins walk away which gets you all around Rome within 15 minutes. Very handy....

This is mainly a businesshotel, Location is OK and in walking distance from Colosseum Rooms, mtg rooms and other places in hotel are 4star. Service is sloppy and surely not upto 4stars Breakfast is good but barservice was below even a 3star rating When returning to Rome I will select another hotel

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
