The hotel is close to many attractions yet still very quiet. The rooms are compact but have a huge TVs with Italian Sky. There is a minibar and plenty of storage. The bathroom had a shower and whirlpool bath and plenty of toiletries and towels. The only thing missing was any coffee/tea making facility. A basic breakfast is available for...

Modern House is tucked away down a quiet street. No obvious sign outside until you look at the bell panel on the wall outside and see the name amongst all the residents of this old apartment block. There is a lovely old lift that takes you up a couple of flights, signs ask you to respect the privacy of other...

We went there for Christmas. The building was awful , inside is even worst. The photos are completely different. They forced us pay the first night even if we did not stay. Do not spend money for this b&b too expensive for what you get. Not good at all.

My partner and I stayed at Modern House in early Feb and were delighted with the experience. The appartment was very pleasant - secure, cleaned daily, very comfy bed, and great colour scheme/art. It is very well located and staff were v helpful. We recommend you use the lift when climbing the stairs. Worth noting that it is more an...

This place was a great value for the price. 2 of us booked a 4 person room in this hotel and it was still cheaper than all of the other 2 bed rooms we saw online for the area. It's a 10-15 minute walk from the Roma Termini and right down the street from the Vittorio Emanuele Metro stop which...

Stayed here for 3 nights. Is on the fourth floor (which is quite high in Roma, especially for me!), however the price for a triple room (en-suite) was very reasonable (148 Euros TOTAL for ALL guests, 3 nights) including a breakfast that was not served within the apartment block. For breakfast, 'tickets' are issued for each person to get a...

I can´t say much more than - room was big enough, the staff (Antonio) very client-focused and service oriented, helpful. The room was perfectly clean. The flat (turned into separate rooms with individual shower in ours) was in 4th floor of an old nicely renowed house just next to the Metro station one stop from Termini (main train station) and...

the location is fairly good, within a 10-min. walk to termini station. there's also a subway stop close by. the first impression of the area seemed a little sketchy, but we didn't have any problems with safety. the place is actually a flat in an apartment building. you need to schedule arrival time, as there is no staff on hand...

My husband and I had a great time in Rome at this really nice Bed and Braekfast, where we felt like home, our room was really nice, there's a supermarket right next to it, internet right next door, the kitchen where we have breakfast is very nice and big, and we could use the fridge, so not only we don't...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.

“It's pretty tough to find at first, we asked a couple locals that were on the street. It's in a main building that houses a lot of different hotels, you will need to go into the main building then go up to the 4th floor.”
