From the clash between innovation and tradition, a refuge for modern travelers and classic adventurers was born. The hotel is located in one of the most beautiful historical buildings of Corso Italia, built by the doctor and philanthropist Gregorio Ananian and furnished with elegance and functionality, inviting every guest to write a chapter of his story in Trieste.

The Modernist Hotel is right in the heart of Trieste, merely minutes away from all the sights and the seafront.
The design is super cool and modern including great quotes on the ceiling of the rooms. The bar is open until 10pm and serves really good cocktails at super reasonable prices. Due to the COVID pandemic there is currently no breakfast buffet but the serve to your table tray is more than sumptuous with salmon croissant and fresh scrambled eggs amongst others. Fantastic cappuccino.

The modernist is an odd place, but in a good way. Wonderful staff, starting with Nina, who checked us in, and Cosmin, the fabulously multilingual night receptionist, and quite literally all others.
It takes guts to post huge Nabokov quotes on the room’s ceiling, but this place gets away with it. It’s an old converted building, but it knows what really counts: windows in the room and bathroom that can be opened, when far too many so-called modern hotels are so clearly idiotic and do not value fresh air; truly great showers; bidets, which again other, supposedly better, hotels eschew, even though they are the surest indicator of civilised living; affordable valet parking, local knowledge etc etc etc.
Excellent value for money.

In sum: friendly staff at the reception and in the bistro, a really excellent room service (always super clean and on time); very good breakfast; and a good location in town. Other tourists should not be allowed to bring plastic boxes and fill them with food from the breakfast buffet. I do not want to cofinance other (e.g., German) guest's lunch boxes...

Almost five stars. This is a great hotel which is very well located in Trieste. It’s walking distance from everywhere in the centre.
The team are really friendly and helpful. I had Room 600, the Panoramic room. It was excellent with a great view. Breakfast is nice with a decent selection of high quality food and very attentive service.
They have a valet parking service for €20 per day which is good.
The only negative and I’ve marked it down one star is that each room has its own WiFi and they have limited this to 3 devices. Which is very restrictive. And quite petty. If I’d been hear for work, it would have been difficult. For a modern hotel this is unacceptable. There’s simply no option to even pay to increase the number of devices. I’d definitely stay here again but I would expect them to solve the limited WiFi issue as there are other good options nearby.

Eminently walkable to all sights in Trieste, The Modernist Hotel is a delight. It’s warm and welcoming environment is only matched by a personalised experience in each stylish room- each with a nod to TSEliot, Matisse and Joyce. It’s location on Corso Italia is a potent crossroad that leads to all of Trieste’s historical and cultural sights. The Modernist offers a fabulous breakfast, as well as a great restaurant. It is placed deservedly alongside the distinctive character of this vibrant coastal city.
A wonderful immersive experience on all levels.

We stayed four nights in The Modernist Hotel in mid October. The location was an easy 20 minute walk from the main train station and centrally located between the water and two interesting neighborhoods. Our room was comfortable and spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was pleasant and satisfying. I am very sensitive to noise and was bothered by the busy street below. This is very individual. I grew up in New York City and the location would be quiet by NYC standards.

It‘s a modern style new hotel in the heart of Trieste. All kind of stores, restaurants, famous Trieste buffets and cafes are in walking distance from the hotel.
Garage San Giusto is app. 200m walking distance from the hotel . The hotel is offering a 15% discount voucher for the hotel.
Please note that rooms and beds are comfortable but you must consider that you might have no view from the windows because the neighbor building is only 2m away.
Breakfast is top, staff ist young and very friendly.
The hotel has a bar opening in the evening!

A few hundred meters from Piazza Unità di Italia and the Teresiao village, the hotel is a young structure managed by a young and highly trained staff. The small room is indeed small, but has all the comforts. The bath and shower soap from the Erbolario is valuable. Very rich and varied sweet and savory breakfast, excellent cold cuts and fresh cheeses, very good choice of sweets and filled croissants.
Slightly lower price than the competition. Very good sleep quality

We travelled very early from Ljubljana and arrived at the hotel at 09:15. I thought they would say it was too early to check in but we were able to check in straight away which was much appreciated.
Lovely, central location, clean hotel. The prices of drinks at the bar are reasonable (same as other central bars). Friendly staff. Would recommend

The Modernist is located in Corso Italia, one of the central - and busiest - streets of the city, in an ideal position for getting around the city. My room overlooking the Corso was very quiet, despite the heavy traffic. Spacious, bright and clean, perhaps with some details to fix (door knob unhinged, towel holder unglued) but welcoming and comfortable.
The staff, from the reception to the bar, from the breakfast room to the floor staff, were kind, affable and helpful. Very good breakfast, very varied and satisfying for both sweet and savory lovers.
The only comment I feel like making is the smallness of the common spaces. Only one area is available for guests next to the reception which for both evenings in which I was there was booked by events and my friends and I were "kicked out" - with kindness, but the meaning is that, from the area . I believe that a hotel should have the possibility of welcoming its guests together with the guests of events organized on behalf of third parties.
Apart from this small inconvenience, my stay at The Modernist was very good and I will certainly return, also considering the excellent value for money.
