Absolutely charming in every way, the B and B, the owners, the Citta Alta itself. We have just returned after three days in this beautiful old city sitting on top of the hill. What a welcome, the hospitality was warm and friendly, our room was a delight, traditional Italian style, in keeping with the history of the building. Breakfast was... More

We were 2 adults and 3 kids needing a stay over before we travelled to bella Italia next day. The charming and v friendly Alfonso picked us up from airport and it was a hassle free ride to citta alta. Loved the adjoining rooms, everything spotless and so much better than a standard hotel room. You knew you were in... More

We were redirected to this B&B by their colleagues in this business who had some repair works in the building, and we never regretted this change. The location is perfect, right in the heart of the old town. The Michelangelo room was large and very authentic. Not to mention the free parking a few hundred meters away, in the old... More

Loved this little place. It was just perfect. Good sized, high celinged en suite bedrooms, beautifully and artistically decorated with an eclectic range of furniture so that you feel as if you are in rural Italy and a world away from home. The perfect location and gorgeousness of this B&B is topped only by the helpful owners and the delicious... More

Perfectly situated 100 metres from Piazza Vecchia this is a highly recommended B&B. Owner Alfonso was a great host, gave some good restaurant reccommendations too. Breakfast was excellent, the rooms are a great size, bigger than you would get in a hotel. We stayed in the Michelangelo room which was perfect for my wife and I. And it is very... More

This B&B is on the first floor of a 14th century building right in the heart of the upper city of Bergamo. It was quite difficult to find as it was dark when we arrived and our satnav gave up trying about a mile away. Many of the roads in the area are one way, extremely narrow and have restricted... The hotel itself is in the heart of Bergamo Alta, the old, walled section of Bergamo. The entrance is an unassuming green door on Via Salvecchio that leads to a large interior courtyard. The bed and breakfast itself is up one flight of stairs. The rooms are wonderful - the furniture is beautiful, and the frescos on the ceiling are... More

Bergamo was our last two-day stop on a week-long tour of Northern Italy and it the stay at Pierangela and Alfonso's Albia Chiara was a wonderful experience. First of all, the location in Citta Alta is as good as it gets - right in the centre of the historic upper Old Town overlooking the city. The hosts offer free parking... More

Spent four nights at the Alba Chiarra and really enjoyed it. Bergamo is a charming place to wander round, relax and take in the views. The B&B was excellent. We had a very spacious room which was very quiet as it was at the back of the building. The breakfasts were wonderful with lots of fresh fruit, cheese or ham... More

We originally booked a room in the guesthouse, however the owner called us and offered us the apartment, as the other two rooms in the guesthouse would be occupied by two quite large families - something that could cause a bit of noise. We were quite happy to stay in the apartment instead. As our plane arrived very late, we... More
