We were recommended this Auberge as a good place to stop over on a two-day trip to the Maritimes in mid-June. As we know from past experience that summer rooms get booked up in advance, we booked two dates to stay going and returning. We also asked to reserve a table at the Auberge restaurant at the same time as we booked the rooms. On the out bound trip, we stayed in single story motel where the rooms have a balcony overlooking the river. The room was modest but clean modern and functional. I noted that the sliding door when closed, reduced the sounds of the waves, good for light sleepers. We purchased a bottle of wine at the bar and took it back to our room before eating at restaurant with windows overlooking the river. This is a popular place so booking well ahead is necessary. We also had breakfast there, the attractive flower arrangements on each table was a feature as well as the excellent cooking.
On our return in early July we had booked a room in the main building which is historic and so the fittings are dated but functional. our room had a bath, the motel rooms have showers. As our return visit was on a Sunday the restaurant was closed but we again had a fine breakfast. All our engagements with the staff were very pleasant and we will certainly make the Auberge sur Mer a regular stop on our yearly drive to the Maritimes.

We stayed in the main building as it was a last-minute booking and the motel was full. The room was comfortable and we had a little balcony. Sat outside watching the herons with binocs and a glass of wine before dinner, perfect. Staff lovely, restaurant meal was fabulous. Especially vegetarian dish. All in all, can't wait to stay again.

So I’m a biker and I like to ride straight through Quebec this time however I decided to stop this is an old place with some character definitely needs some updating but if you’re looking for a five star view and a five star meal and don’t want to pay for it then this is the place the room is small comfortable with a great relaxing view with a beer or wine makes for a good sleep the staff are friendly professional and polite the location is central for a run up or down hwy 132 very scenic i travel a lot and believe you would easily pay twice the cost or more to match the view and the food and service great safe place for bikes

What a treat to stay in the historic inn right on the shore. The room in the inn was charming and clean. The parlor area was lovely, filled with a fascinating array of antique books. The evening meal was fabulous, with a view of the sun setting on thr St. Lawrence. I suggest staying in thr Inn, rather than the extra units built to the side. Food is pricey but excellent.

Ae have been driving from Toronto to the east for many years. We have tried stopping in various places...Quebec City, Levis, Edmonston. But we have settled on Notre-Dame Du-Portage as the perfect place to stop. We have probably stayed there now on 10 occasions for a single night on our journey. You can stay at a simple clean room in the motel or a nicer room in the Inn. The highlight is the dining room, which offers a lovely classical French dinner and a lovely country breakfast. The food is the best we have found on the road between Toronto and PEI. (Don't forget to make a reservation) Friendly bilingual service, good location around the midpoint of the journey. Not too far off Highway 20. Lovely waterside location on the St. Lawrence.

I dislike big, impersonal hotels, so this wee spot, approximately 10 kms from all that, situated right on the Fleuve St. Laurent, the perfect alternative. The rooms within the Auberge seem more updated than the motel part of this place. The food is elegantly presented and well-prepared, the atmosphere is welcoming and charming and the views are spectacular. The staff were very helpful and it felt as though we had found a jewel on the shore. A perfect little stopover.

Positives: wonderful view of the Saint Lawrence and friendly staff. But while the downstairs lobby and dining room are nice enough, the balance is in need of an upgrade.
Negatives: tired upstairs hall way. Room had minimal comforts though the bed itself was comfortable. No air conditioning or fan.
The "gourmet" cuisine was acceptable but nothing more than that.

I spent 3 nights here and never slept better. I have no idea why, but I'm glad of it! The dinners were very good and the dining room overlooking the river in very charming. I did not have time to investigate the spa, but it was obvious that plenty of folks at the auberge were taking advantage of it.
Don't miss this one, it is a delight.

Where we had wanted to stay in Riviere du Loupe was booked so we got off the highway and meandered along the river. This auberge looked nice and the people were very friendly. They had what appeared to be a very good all inclusive dinner, room and breakfast. We took it but we thought a room in the big old auberge would be nicer than one in the motel style row that was attached. Uh uh. Paper thin ,walls and hollow floors. Nevertheless, thinking of stopping again on our return west. The meal was magnifique, the wife can still taste the lobster ravioli starter days later, the wine list was excellent although too much emphasis on France and the staff were as good as you will find anywhere. Breakfast was almost the equal to dinner.

This place is such a hidden gem! I wanted to stay in something different from the hotels that we've stayed in before in Riviere du Loup, so I just searched for hotels along our driving route on google maps and found this one. We stayed here as a stopover on the way from Ontario to Nova Scotia. I chose it because it is on the coast of the St. Lawrence estuary, which is a great area for whale-watching. Although the whales stay mainly on the other side, I saw at least 50 Belugas over the span of an hour on, using binoculars. The Inn itself is quaint and beautiful with a beautiful dining room that overlooks the St. Lawrence. The staff said the inn was built in the 1800s. The town that it is located in, Notre-dame-du-portage is very picturesque, with beautiful colourful traditional houses. The only thing is that the road that runs along the coast its shared with pedestrians and s very narrow, so you need to drive slowly.
