Small hotel inside Sirmione citadel. To get to the hotel you first have to get a permission from the guard at the city gates. Then you have to literally drive through crowds of tourists walking through medieval narrow streets. The Garmin is not very helpful...More

The Mavino Hotel is really In the heart of the paeninsula of Sirmione. Close to the Thermal Pools and the tiny streets, the Mavino hotel has very comfortable rooms and nice personnel. Areas of improvement are breakfast and parking. The latter is outside the castle,...More
The location of the hotel is wonderful... tucked inside the historic old town. It is a 10 minute walk from the bus stop outside the castle walls (which is the collection point for excursions to Verona, Venice, etc.) and is less than 5 mins from...More

Hi CyprusLea, We had the same dilemma when we came to stay here ourselves. I asked others at the time and had no real answers. In the end I sent an e-mail to the hotel and they gave me the details of a local man who was absolutely brilliant. One thing I will say in advance, transfers from the airport to the hotel are expensive. He did charge us about 50 Euro's each way? One person told me about using the bus service but this meant waiting about and lugging luggage about so we paid for the Taxi. His details are Ponti Easy Travel and his name is Mauro Tammacco. He speaks excellent English and is a lovely man. We e-mailed him to get a quote and he replied very quickly. We loved the hotel, the staff were very good and the location is perfect to ramble around and see the Old Town area of Sirmione. We wanted a view of Lake Garda and opted for a second floor room which I believe was 301? It did cost us a little extra but we thought it was worth it and we booked that before we went by sending an e-mail to the hotel. If you look on my reviews for the hotel and Lake Garda you maybe able to pick up some things of interest to you about the ferries etc. Have a great break away, regards Grahame & Julie.
