Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
We have just had a 7 day stay at this hotel, a treat for a special birthday. The hotel is elevated, across the road from the lake, close to the ferry terminal and a short (enjoyable) walk from the centre of Stresa. It is a 15-20 min mostly downhill walk from the train station (a taxi costs around 10 Euro). We had apartment No 105 which had 1 bedroom, a lounge room, a small kitchenette and mini fridge, and a large bathroom with a double vanity and corner shower. An outstanding feature of this apartment was the massive terrace (with traditional wrought-iron balustrades) with 180 degree views of Lake Maggiore, the islands and the mountains. Everything worked really well, the internet was very good, it was all so clean, and the bed and bedding was all lovely too. Another plus was a laundry which you could use at a cost of 10 Euros (instructions were in Italian so the fab staff helped us with this). The breakfast room was on the (elevated) ground floor with great views too but we did not have the hotel breakfast, so cannot comment. Overall, a wonderful hotel run by friendly caring people. We were very sad to leave and have already booked again for 2024.

The room was very spacious, clean and extremely comfy. It was well equipped and we had the use of the kitchenette which was brilliant. The bathroom was supplied with mini shampoos etc which helped to ensure that we did not need to bring our own - and they smelt amazing!
The best bit of the room was the view - it is utterly stunning and I could spend the rest of my life just sitting and watching it!
The hotel is situated close to the main town but there was no noise that disturbed us at night or in the day at all. There are plenty of nearby restaurants etc to walk to and the hotel can recommend some fantastic ones.
We had the breakfasts which was very good - so much food and it was varied every day. The fresh orange squeezer was a big hit with our daughter.
We were able to park easily - the hotel does not have its own car park but you can usually find free parking near by and if not then it is reasonable for the day in the main car park by the harbour.
The best part though were the staff - they are so friendly and helpful and always there to great you with a smile. We cannot thank them enough for such a fantastic stay and yes I am sure we will be returning again!

The hotel is in a great location in front of the lake. It offers very nice views of the lake and islands. We had plenty of space in our rooms to relax and feel comfortable. Stresa is a small town so shops, restaurants, bakeries and the ferry terminal were a short walk away. There is limited free parking outside the hotel but it can be hard to find a place at busy times.
We enjoyed our stay but there are a couple reasons why I give it 4 rather than 5 stars. The first is that you need to stay for many days to be able to use the kitchenette. Given that staying in this hotel is not cheap and the kitchenette is already there, it seems silly not to have them open. Just ask guests to leave them clean and charge them if they don't. The other thing to mention is that this hotel has the earliest check-out time we have ever come across. I do not think any hotel should be expecting you to leave before 11am.
Overall, though, we enjoyed our stay in this hotel, and we have wonderful memories of Stresa, lake Maggiore and Isola Bella.

This was our second stay at this hotel. The room was large with a gorgeous view of the lake. Beds are comfy and the room is clean. We had a Lake view suite which was a large living area and separate bedroom - both with great views and a bathroom.
Location: Perfect. Step out of the door and you are a minute or two from shops, restaurants and also the ferry terminal. Despite being close to everything we found the hotel quiet and peaceful.
Breakfast is very good value and very nice and my daughter loved the orange juice machine where she could squeeze her own juice every morning.
The staff are very helpful and friendly and work hard.
No car parking but this wasn't a problem for us. We went in August when it was very busy but still found free parking close to the hotel.
There is a small petrol station below (as mentioned in other reviews) but we never noticed any noise or smell from it and we had our windows open most of the time. It really is a tiny station with just one pump and room for only one car so don't let this put you off.
Basically you wont find a room this large with that view at such good value!
Biggest plus points: The view, the space, the location and the staff.

What a delightful few days we spent in Luna Nel Porto hotel on the shores of Lake Maggiore in Stresa. The town itself is nestled in the foothills of the Italian Alps where in March the air is clear and the lake promenades are inviting and restful and reminiscent of bygone times. The staff in the hotel under the friendly and efficient Alyssa are so courteous and helpful and they do everything to make sure your stay is a welcome one. The bedrooms are beautifully prepared and most have a view or balcony facing the lake. Breakfast overlooking the lake is a special delight. We had a delightful stay from beginning to end. The staff who greeted us and cared for us were incredibly friendly and helpful. We had reserved a room with a lake view but did not expect the enormous suite with huge terrace that we were given. The entire set up was comfortable, including the bed and the bathroom (very large, two sinks (!)) and the living room area. The breakfast was excellent. We had to pay an extra fee for breakfast, but it was a modest amount and well worth the cost. The breakfast room is also a lovely space from which to start your day. The location of La Luna nel Porto was also excellent. Local destinations, including the ferry and the restaurants, are within easy walking distance (minutes away). I highly recommend this hotel.

This is a wonderful hotel that I'd highly recommend. The location is fantastic with an amazing view of the lake and just a few minutes walk into the centre of Stresa. The hotel is situated above a petrol station, but there was no noise or unpleasant smell.
Our lake view suite was clean with everything we needed. The kitchenette was one of the reasons we booked this hotel and it was very useful to be able to prepare simple meals, particularly with a toddler. The bed was extremely comfortable and our balcony was huge with a hammock, table and chairs and sun loungers.
The Italian breakfast option sounds fairly basic, but actually it was brilliant with a good selection of rolls, croissants and pastries with jams, spreads and honey and amazing coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. It was very good value.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming and are a real asset to this hotel. I hope that we can return before long to La Luna Nel Porto.

It was October so we were able to have a well-priced lakefront suite that was very comfortable. The staff are exceptionally welcoming and helpful and it is a clean, modern and appealing small hotel. We enjoyed the continental breakfast and took advantage of the laundry facilities. The only eccentricity is that the lift from the street level to hotel reception requires that the call button is held down continuously until the lift arrives and the button inside is similarly held down all the time while it ascends.

What a beautiful setting! The staff were very polite and professional and the property is so lovely. This was a special night for our family so we splurged on the Lake View Suite @ €340 - Room 311 - gorgeous!! and spacious. Staff left us some snacks and a bottle of wine. Very close to shops & restaurants. We were able to park just down the street. We skipped the breakfast, although the setting looked beautiful - went to "il Gigi bar" just up the street for croissants and coffee (€8,70 for three of us). I want to go back!

Hello, We stayed for 3 nights in this hotel and were asked not to use the kitchenette (the kitchenette is blocked off by a large screen) .However, we were given a hot pot, cups, glasses, and ice to use (no refridge). Really, though, the restaurants and coffee bars in the immediate area are so good, I probably would not want to cook or prepare much of anything in the kitchenette anyway, unless I was staying there for a week or more. Our suite had one full bedroom, one large bathroom, and a living room with one single murphy bed and one sofa sleeper. I believe the bedroom had a privacy door, to close off from the living room. Both rooms opened out onto a lovely patio with a view of the lake. The proprietors were very accommodating and pleasant. Highly recommend this hotel, although not sure if they have any 2-bedroom units. I also think most of the rooms vary in size and layout.
Sorry I was there by train and parking was not an issue. But from what I could see there was no designated parking, just on the street. But the hosts Daniela and Graziano will point you in the right direction. They are very nice and helpful. Enjoy and good luck.
