After deciding to put Lake Maggiore on our (two couples) Italy travel destination list, we then worked to find the most ideal location on the lake to stay. At first, our thought was to stay on the mainland in Stresa and avoid being more isolated on one of the Borromean Islands. However, we chose instead to stay on the island of Pescatori at the Hotel Belvedere. Turned out to be an ideal choice. The ferry transportation getting from place to place around Stresa and the nearby islands is so simple, we wondered why we had even been concerned. The Belvedere was an absolute pleasure-spacious rooms with the best bathrooms, super-comfy bedding and pillows (we are in our 70s so we're pretty picky) and awesome views over Lake Maggiore. Their restaurant is 5* and their service staff could not have been any nicer. The breakfasts were perfect (buffet style and good choice of cooked food) and the dinners were fantastic. We were in room 102 with french doors to a deck and large windows on the lakeside wall. Could not have found a better place!

Stayed here for 2 nights on the advice of friends. When booking, only a room with a view of the alley was available. The room was fine, new, well furnished, good beds, but the air conditioning did not work well. We reported this the next day and it was immediately looked into. It was too hot (27 degrees with air conditioning on the lowest setting) and we got another room at 12 noon (deluxe room with balcony and lake view) and didn't have to pay anything extra. This is because we booked directly through the hotel's website. Transfer to and from hotel is also included if you book directly with them. The upgrade was sensational. Large room, king size bed, minibar and kettle, well-functioning air conditioning and a breathtaking view! Enjoyed it immensely! The only point of attention is that it is not clear where on the island you will be picked up from the hotel by the water taxi. If you are walking with luggage in 30 degrees, it is nice to know where to wait as there are 6 to 7 boarding points. Placing a sign here with Hotel Belvedere on it with times (in the evening from 7 p.m. the boarding point is different than during the day) would cause a lot of stress and lack of clarity for customers and the water taxi service.

We booked a dinner with an overnight stay. Upon our arrival from the Carciano pier we were accompanied to the island, the dinner was of good quality and tasty, the room was beautiful, clean and very bright, as there were several windows with a small balcony. We tried both deluxe rooms with an alley view and a terrace overlooking the lake, both beautiful and well-kept. Very nice restaurant, directly on the lake, very good food. The only flaw... I ordered a local wine that was on the menu, but it wasn't there and the maitre recommended me a similar one... which I appreciated, but upon check out I realized that it cost more than double. Remember to notify customers, it's good practice! We'll see again

First of all, I would like to mention the excellent Maria who, from the reception, does everything to satisfy even the most complex requests. We stayed our last night in Italy and found the Albergo Ristorante Belvedere delightful, it’s position is wonderful although I am sure rain and cloud on that night reduced the impact of the view from our balcony. The room was very comfortable, clean and modern, the staff were all welcoming, attentive and thoroughly professional. We ate dinner in their lovely dining room and had a superb meal with local produce - I had grilled fish from the morning catch from the lake - with excellent wine from the region; in the morning breakfast was also generous and tasty, again served by delightful staff. Transport to and from Stresa was very well organised and parking on the mainland very easy.

Pension is beautiful, the view of the lake and Isola Madre , the single rooms have a superb decor that I prefer even to deluxe . The pebble beach where in the middle of August there is no one until 11-12 pm is a few steps away. Otherwise you can throw yourself into the lake in front of the Pension. The room itself was really nice, very spacious and clean. However, the staff was very rude and from the moment of our arrival we did not feel welcome. Also, pets are accepted and we had even asked over the phone regarding this, but nobody told us before our arrival that the pet is ''not allowed to stay alone at all''. We booked this hotel in order to go visit the Palazzo on Isola Bella in which animals are not accepted due to the gardens, so we ended up missing on that because the hotel did not communicate with us before that the dog needs to be with us 24/7 and did not even apologise for not mentioning this.
When we arrived in the room there was a dirty towel, which we took to the reception and was not even offered a replacement, just an ''ok'' as a response.
