The Doria Grand Hotel was an excellent choice and in a great quiet location just a 5 minute walk from the Central station, close to Metro and only a 40 minute walk from the city centre if you fancy walking. The rooms were very comfortable and offer a nice combination of traditional and modern. The staff were all very pleasant and welcoming. Breakfast offered a good selection of choices. The one and only negative was that there was no hot water in the room on occasions. We understand other guests also experienced the same issue.
This is my 2nd visit to Grand Doria Hotel, my first visit was before covid. Charles is reception is very helpful and welcoming. Cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. The rooms are superb and comfortable. Love the while marble bathroom fittings. The breakfast is excellent and so is the location, the Metro is nearby and so is Milan Centrale station. Many thanks to Charles, Rocco and others for the excellent service.
Lovely, clean and friendly hotel. Perfect location as took less than 10 mins to walk from central station down one road so easy to find. 3 min walk from Metro which was then easy to get into the centre from. The bar was nice a relaxing after a day of exploring and for pre-dinner drinks. One day was a pain having to wait for the lift as it was busy as only 1 lift and 11 floors but every other time was fine. Our aircon didn’t work but as it was November it wasn’t too hot so we didn’t complain or ask about it. Lovely spacious room with huge bed and nice clean bathroom A very comfy and pleasant stay at the perfect location. Recommend this hotel to explore the city but able to be in a quiet area.
Grazie Mille Giuseppe!! He found the best possible room to make our stay lot more comfortable and restful. Just for having that type of room, we were wanted to stay longer! The hotel amenities are classic and stylish, make anyone feel that we really are in Milan!
It was a convenient hotel situated a short walk from the station and near two Metro stops. The hotel staff were welcoming and the facilities were fine for a city hotel. There was a small bar and a good range at the buffet style breakfast. The rooms had coffee making facilities and were well furnished and comfortable.
Despite recent bad reviews this is actually a very nice 4 star city hotel. Room was clean and nicely furnished with a decent size bathroom. Location is very good, about 8-10 min walk from Milano Centrale Train Station and 4 min walk from 2 Metro underground stations which link up with the network of underground lines to pretty much get anywhere quickly easily and cheaply. Breakfast was okay, not a massive choice but something for most people. Staff were all very nice, especially the young bar tender. There is an underground car park which is easy to use. Weirdly, in the room was a kettle and tea bags and sugar, but no coffee or milk and other people said the same. Coffee would have been very welcome. Main criticism was how hot the bedrooms get, the air con will not go below 24.5 degrees so useless. I believe this though is not the hotel’s fault but instead is down to Putin and the ongoing energy crisis meaning hotels have to follow new rules on air con use. The room did have an opening window but unfortunately despite being high up on the 11th floor this allows the dreaded mozzies to get in. A decent hotel for a short stay, either for business or a city break…
Am always suspcious of hotels that demand you pay IN FULL on arrival before you see the room. On the positive side MOST of the staff were excellent. The exception being an older male receptionist who clearly defines 'hospitality' as ignoring guests, then being rude and grumpy. He obviously not having an off day as we noted he was same next days. Dated and unmaintained. I have seen so much mold in a bathroom..see pictures. Lots of damaged furniture. Air con very odd..would not set below 22.5 and never went below 24 degrees. In a rather unsalubrious area and do not be fooled by map..still rather a treck from station.
Stayed at this hotel for three nights. On the day we checked in noticed that the hinge of the cupboard where the safe was situated was broken. Informed the receptionist in case we are held responsible for it. The hotel is close to the station . The breakfast was good and the staff friendly. On the day of our check out when we were arranging the bed we noticed that the quilt that was on the bed had some brown marks like dried blood fortunately for us there was another sheet underneath it otherwise we would have been sleeping on someone else’s blood. Don’t think we would recommend this hotel 🏨 due to their un hygiene practices.
Nice building with a good breakfast close to the train station. The AC didn’t work for us and calling down to the front desk didn’t improve the situation. If you prefer sleeping in not hot temps, book elsewhere. We also accidentally left some very important medicine in the fridge of our room when we checked out this morning. We’ve been trying for hours to call the hotel from various phones and sent them emails but haven’t been able to get in touch. We need to recollect our items but are now in a different city and it’s impossible to get in touch. We’re hoping they email us back soon.
We will never stay here again. Our biggest complaint is that the air conditioning system didn't work on a very warm day....and night. We barely slept all night after a long flight from the US. We told the front desk and they said they "unlocked" our AC but it still didn't work. If we hadn't prepaid we would have left. Also, i was traveling with a medicine that needs to be kept cold so I have a thermos like contained with an insert that has to be frozen to keep the medicine cold and the hotel refused to put the insert in their restaurant's freezer due to "security concerns". This medicine costs $8000 per dose but they didn't care. Also, the hotel is run down and only has one elevator for 11 floors! Lastly, the breakfast buffet was mediocre at best. Do not stay here!
