Great central location, only a few minutes walk from Duomo, but on a quiet side road. We arrived mid afternoon and had the room overlooking the square. The staff were very helpful when we arrived and helped us to book a restaurant for the evening meal. The room was clean with with huge pillows and free soft drinks in the...

Once again, I feel like Trip Advisor needs a 3.5 rating - something in between average and very good. While this hotel is definitely above average, I'm not sure I would say it is very good. I would say 'good'. Pros - The main one is its location. It is just a few minutes walk to the Duomo and the...

We stayed here for a single night visit in mid-March. The hotel is easy walking distance from the cathedral. The staff was very helpful, allowing us to leave our bags and check in early with our early arrival in Milan. The breakfast was excellent with hot eggs and sausage and a large selection of pastry and other items. I called...

We truly enjoyed our stay in Milan. Much thanks to the staff at Gran Duca Hotel. The location was perfect for our brief but fun stay in Milan. It was an easy walk to the Duomo and the Sforza Casrle. The breakfast exceeded my expectations. The service at breakfast and throughout our stay was fantastic. Even our cabbie commented "...

Be sure to have drinks at the bar: order either Campari Soda or prosecco. You will not only get wonderful amuse-bouches, but also learn a lot about the hotel. A thoroughly delightful place to stay and good value as well.

It's all about location - just behind Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, 5 minutes walk from Duomo di Milano, 10 minutes walk from Teatro alla Scala, 15 minutes walk from Quadrilatero della Moda. Bed was comfortable, bathroom well equipped with some good quality toiletries. There was a kettle in the room with a very basic selection of teas and coffees; free soft drinks...

This hotel has a great central location near all the tourist sites; 5 minute walk from Duomo and 10 to la Scala. The Last Supper and castle a bit further at 20-25 minutes away. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, with amenities like shampoo, lotion, hair dryer, etc in the bathrooms. There was a...

Staying in Centro Storico

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.
