We stayed here as a couple for two nights stay. We were shocked by how nice our room was at first glance, seemed very modern and had a cool balcony. However we soon noticed that there were loads and loads of ants on the floor, wardrobe, bathroom. We obviously told the staff who, when we went out, said they sprayed everywhere/surface in the room with I presume bug spray. This was fine I suppose apart from the fact that all of this spray will have gone all over all our belongings and our bed, which isn’t great. Some ants remained but they said there was nothing more they could do. The main thing you want in a hotel is for it to be clean (bug-less) so this was a real downer as we darent put anything on the floor or in the wardrobe incase ants got in it! We then got a visit saying we were being too loud when ironically I was writing a review on the last place we stayed whilst my partner showered, so we certainly weren’t being loud, not even speaking. Aircon was very loud, couldn’t keep it on all night as it sounded like a car, but at least it worked. Breakfast was fine, hot food looked horrible but they had yoghurts and juice which sufficed. Very good location!…
We paid to stay in this hotel where it was written that the breakfast is included. We had to bring our own yoghurts because we got one thin slice of cheese and 2 slim slices of ham. This is enough for 2 thin toast breads which were additionally dry... we toasted them but imagine what you get from toasted dry bread. Waiting for a coffee 30 min seeing one working person very very busy... I went to reception to ask if this is the breakfast we really paid for when taking the room.... breakfast can be included but it is still some price you pay when booking a room, even if it is not clearly stated (for obvious reasons...) I told her we are hungry and if we can get a bit more ham for example? If we knew it was so little we would never book this hotel... we are also a gym couple so we dont survive on 2 slices... She said it is sunday and this is what we get even though yesterday there was more food... she saif this is hotel’s good will that we get the food... Sorry? Good will? We paid to be there with a bfast included in the price.... good will would be letting us sleeping for free. Anyway, terrible.…
This hotel is perfect if you’re arriving or leaving by train as it’s right by the train station. The staff were lovely. The room was basic but clean and comfortable and the shower was great. Lovely breakfast with a good selection but above all this place wind for its location
I stayed at the Astoria for one night in October 2019. This is a fairly basic hotel, saved somewhat by a good location and laid-back, friendly service. Check in was fast and very friendly. Rooms are small, old and in desperate need of renewal. The batteries in both my aircon remote and TV remote were out. Sound proofing was poor in my 4th floor room, and traffic noise was an issue. Breakfast was very basic and not really work worrying about. A good hotel to choose for convenience sake, but nothing much to recommend it otherwise.
I stay in turin several times a year. It is a beautiful city. This is the second time I have stayed at the Astoria. My room was spacious and comfortable. Its very central and the staff are attentive and helpful.
The Astoria's glory days are some decades back (as are Turin's - while the two may be connected that's really a different story) but its location next to Porta Nuova train station and in the middle of town not too far from the Egyptian Museum remains superb. Basic, popular, inexpensive - if you're expecting luxury, minibars, room safes ... You will be disappointed. The beds are comfortable, the airco and shower work. Breakfast is a little disappointing - a buffet yes but poor choice; I am always put off by watered down fruit juice. Coffee is OK though ! We liked the ancient lift. And the lovely marble inlays on the ground floor.
My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Astoria for two nights whilst visiting Turin. We found check in a little unenthusiastic, having to request a map and general directions where usually this is something hotel reception staff offer as standard. The room was a good size, decor was a little dated but the bathroom was modern. We were not impacted by the small bath or tall toilet that others have mentioned in their reviews. The hotel is actually very close to the train station, minutes away and approximately a 10 minute walk away from the main square and Egyptian museum. Breakfast was nice with a reasonable choice available. We would recommend this hotel for a short stay in Turin.
The room was a bit small. the bathroom was very small. Breakfast was basic. Nice staff. The location is very close to the central station. walking distance from the street with brand stores. overall good for the price.
I was very impressed with the friendly greeting by the concierge when I arrived late owing to a delayed train. This Hotel was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was all you need it to be, and I enjoyed my stay.
Staying at this hotel is always a nice experience. Nothing exceptional, but always clean and has a very convenient location. The staff are fantastic and do their best to help. I always stay at this hotel whenever I visit Turin.
